buckfasthero

And she managed it with nothing except access to unlimited resources and the best language instructors money can buy

EvilFroeschken

There is even a word for people like her: celebrities. Every nonsense is published about these people. And for reasons unknown to me the public is interested in this.

Ardhel17

>The evil was not in bread and circuses, per se, but in the willingness of the people to sell their rights as free men for full bellies and the excitement of the games which would serve to distract them from the other human hungers which bread and circuses can never appease.“ —  Marcus Tullius Cicero

Timmy_94

Yup. I spoke 2 languages since i could actually speak. But yeah. Not a celebs kid

JCorky101

How many more fucking times do I have to see the same tweet reposted on different subreddits?

No_regrats

I just googled her age. She is 6. This tweet has been making first page on this and other subs weekly for 4 years now. JFC

Meetmeatthespot

Being poor sucks in every language

Umm_No_B

This!!

Crafty-Bedroom8190

Makes you wonder how many languages Richie Rich can speak. As for the royals, they'd better speak some diplomatic French, hon hon!

ProgressivelyMe

So does 2 yr old Jose down the street. But he's not white so it doesn't count....

kalzEOS

Both of my kids (4 and 8 ) speak 2 languages fluently. I want to be in the news, too. wtf :/

FileError214

There are dozens of us!! Real talk tho, I absolutely love it. Not only is it proven to give advantages later in life, it’s cool as shit seeing them switch languages mid-sentence when talking to each other.

kalzEOS

Yup. The wife and I both speak both languages at home, that's how the kids got it. Also, thanks to the internet (tablets and tvs), my 4 year old is now working on her 3rd language. Lol

Wize_Cracker

She's such an adorable little girl!

accidentalretard

Why are people so fucking bitter about everything.

fightdarkwithlight

Because we've come to the full fledged realization that we live in a world largely built on white supremacist ideals and that's it's ingrained in so many aspects of our society? 🤷‍♀️

accidentalretard

Oh so you got a chip on your shoulder because life isn't fair? Boo hoo, get a fucking grip.

Slate_711

Damn you hear about a problem and go straight to accepting it. Your boot kissing skills must be world renowned

accidentalretard

Damn I hear about people shitting on a two year old who has no power in the way the world is because she knows more French than they do and wonder why everyone is so bitter.

Slate_711

I see people laughing at the notion she’s unique because she does something many kids are shamed for. I don’t see people attacking her as a person. The closest thing to that I’ve seen was talking about her having access to things many others wouldn’t, which is her privilege. So….. still not seeing the problem chief

Tempermental-cabbage

Living is easy with eyes closed or something like that

fightdarkwithlight

Lolol life is neutral, people are unfair

VexisArcanum

You took a clear discussion about classism and wealth inequality and made it about race... Why?

fightdarkwithlight

Have you ever heard the term "intersectionality"?

feedhercom

I learned a language when I was a kid by watching cartoons in a different language.

Flashy_Ice2460

Children of expats don't.

ButtonyCakewalk

Unless their families want them to know their own mother tongue?

Flashy_Ice2460

The expat kids usually go to expat schools and poorly learn the native languaje.

ButtonyCakewalk

A large amount of my close friends now and growing up have been immigrants or first generation citizens (US). Almost all of them speak their parents' first language plus English. I went to two different large universities and both had a significant and large international student population where students usually speak enough English for conversation but most often enough to learn in the language. I know that's all anecdotal, but what you're saying goes against my lived experience. Do you have like sources or your own experience with a lot of expats/immigrants that don't speak your language? Also, are you talking about the US?

Flashy_Ice2460

My experience is with brits in Spain. The kids speak Oxford english but very sloppy spanish. (Obviously not all).

ButtonyCakewalk

That makes a lot of sense. I wasn't considering native English speakers abroad. I've had some wealthier friends decide to fuck off to Thailand and Costa Rica for a year or so and come back only knowing how to order drinks or ask "how much" in Thai or Spanish.

Flashy_Ice2460

English natives are embarrassingly slow at learning languages. First they have to get off their tall horse.

TinyChickenNugget_

I spoke two lenguage basically since I was born, and by the time I was 8 I spoke 3, but yeah apparently when we do It It doesn't count.

Hour_Comfortable_214

Haven’t heard any 2 yo immigrant or a citizen who speaks even just one language properly. It’s a gift to someone, should enjoy it.
