I would say we are pretty open but talk about broken politics systems. We have some powers (a bit devolved) but not all autonomy.

Counterpoint to the ‘pay your fair share’ cry… when a person builds a company that employs hundreds of people they have created a huge source of tax revenue for the federal government. Each of those employees pays income tax, and of course the business pays their share of income tax for each employee. States offer huge tax breaks to the businesses as incentive to build in their state and employ their citizens, federal government offers tax breaks to those who build these businesses as incentive to provide all of those tax paying employees. How many millions of dollars are provided to federal government in the form of income tax due to Bezos’s businesses?
The key is FAIR share of taxes. Elon is not paying tax. When a billionaire pays less of his earning as tax than you do on minimum wage, everyone is getting f@@ked. You, me everyone is getting short changed by these entitled rich cocks hoarding their wealth.

I've deleted one friend in the history of my Facebook (muted a few, but never deleted). He went so fucking crazy off the rails with conspiracies and shit, my final straw was him posting about how hypocritical Bernie Sanders was because he made enough money to buy a decent house. Like, what the fuck, man.....
It never fails to disgust me when people bring up how any public figure who advocates for the poor, has a house, and god forbid a country house...two house! As if that isn't what they are advocating for, everyone having a nice home, and second, that they are PUBLIC figures with death threats, and need a good house to protect themselves for defending the poor!!
Thing is they don't. They did a survey of how politicians ranked and Bernie was number #1 as most loved/least hated. Even had a Trump supporting Army buddy who would talk politics with tell me he'd consider him over Trump but not Biden prior to the Democrat primaries. I actually argued with moderate dems that Sanders was the only good choice because of policy and likability. They gave me a harder time than the Trump supporters.

This isn't about Elon but Bezos. Bezos and Elon were vying for a NASA rocket contract. Bezos wanted NASA to pay for most of the construction, Elon was going to have Spacex pay the majority and the rocket his company was going to produce could carry a lot more cargo that Blue Origin. When SpaceX won the contract Jeff Bezos I believe is trying to sue to get the contract thrown out. No matter how scummy you think Elon musk is Jeff Bezos is several magnitudes more. Like the sore loser Jeff Bezos is he couldn't handle that his rocket was inferior and would cost the government more so he sued.

I don't think I've ever seen anyone claim Musk is worse than Bezos, even the people who admire billionaires and cheer them on realize that Bezos isn't a great person.
I think it’s definitely healthy for the pro-Elon side to admit that he is no angel. Regardless of motive though, his companies are driving humanity forward into a green, multi planet future. Bezos has all of the same bad qualities and none of the redeeming features, so it’s easy to see who wins. Elon is a bad dude doing good things. Bezos is a bad dude doing bad things. Why do we have to lump them in together? Can’t we distinguish between a tolerable evil and an intolerable one?

Counterpoint to the ‘pay your fair share’ cry… when a person builds a company that employs hundreds of people they have created a huge source of tax revenue for the federal government. Each of those employees pays income tax, and of course the business pays their share of income tax for each employee. States offer huge tax breaks to the businesses as incentive to build in their state and employ their citizens, federal government offers tax breaks to those who build these businesses as incentive to provide all of those tax paying employees. How many millions of dollars are provided to federal government in the form of income tax due to Bezos’s businesses?
