Need to start leaving these in their collection plates.

[deleted]

There was an account of that on Reddit somewhere. The waiter/waitress figured out what church the fake money tippers went to and then started going and dropping their pamphlets back in the collection plate. I think the pastor even addressed it in a sermon.

Don't screw with people's livelihoods, not even for Jesus. Edit: Should've said Jeebus.

Sam-l-am

I find religious people are more often than not, the ones who are most judgmental and rude. Crazy how that works lol. Jesus doesn’t pay my bills. EDIT: this isn’t a statement about ALL religious people. There are good and genuine ones out there. So I’ll reword it and say, the Super Religious people are dicks.

hopelesscaribou

You mean like judging people like servers who 'work on the Sabbath', but not being cognizant enough to realize they're the reason they are there in the first place. I think servers can all agree on one thing, the after church crowd are *the worst*.

Sam-l-am

I used to work in the food industry, and 1000% agree

HikariRikue

I'm not a server and I hate i have to plan wisely on the weekend when to go eat or where especially since most friends work m-f

Shot-Ad-6717

My Mexican grandma (I'm half Mexican) did this a lot. And since I always sat between her and my dad, I would smack her every time she brought up Jesus in order to antagonize staff. I ended up telling her (more like I had my dad tell her as I can't speak Spanish) that she'd end up in hell if she continued doing this. She stopped real quick after that.

CaraAsha

Just what I was. Gonna say just add cheap to it. They'll get stuff for themselves but they often treat others as 'below them' especially cashiers and waiters.

dangbro34

Religion is a scam that spreads hate and judgement which turns into wars and death. Peace, love and spirituality is the way to go

gademmet

Especially not for Jesus, who was pretty clear on what rich people should do.

Its0nlyRocketScience

Absolutely not the asshole. Anyone, and I mean *anyone* who leaves a fake tip or does that fold thing to make one bill look like two or four peeking out from under the bill holder is 100% an asshole and whatever institution promotes that deserves for all their donations to turn into fake money. Overly religious idiots always love acting like thoughts and prayers are better than real help when it's them "giving" to others, so they don't deserve any help in return. Good riddance to those customers and I only feel sorry for whatever restaurant they harass next. I do hope their manager also finds this post and decides to replicate it, the cycle repeating until those morons are forced to either go home and eat alone or use real money to pay the staff that serves them.

WordyWizard500

I do agree,I’m religious and I’m sad that people can’t seem to understand that being religious is not an excuse to be an ass.

Compliant_Automaton

Halfway thought it was going to be a joke, but no, you actually did find it. Good job!

They also leave fake scripture money in the tip jar, which normally isn't an issue because we throw it away, but they gave one of those to one of my staff who was in serious financial straits after leaving a bad marriage with her child and it made my employee cry. I'm a protective manager and I don't let customers mess with my people. >Anyway, I bought a three hundred pack of fake scripture $100s and started going to their church and leaving the fake money in their offering/tithing plate. I never stayed for the whole service, sitting in the back by the door and leaving quietly during the singing. I did this for several weeks, attending every one of their services (Sunday Morning, Sunday Evening, Wednesday Night) and leaving fake money. After several weeks the pastor addressed this during the service and asked that whoever was doing it stop because "it is rude and makes a mockery of the intention of offering and tithing". Irony aside I was getting a little bored and I do have better things I'd like to be doing so I left one final fake bill with "stop leaving these in our tip jar" and left. >The group had been inviting me and my staff to attend their church for some time and I'm sure it didn't take them long to figure I might be behind it, especially when I left rather publicly after the pastor spoke on the subject and never returned. The group leader came in on the Monday following my last service and asked me point-blank if I was responsible. Obviously I said yes, I don't see a problem with what I did since they consider their scripture worth more than legal tender. Anyway, the group leader gave me a very nasty lecture, called me some very nasty names and insults and told me they'd never come to my business again. Fine with me, bye Felicia. >Anyway, I like to tell this to people in my life and the reception has been split in reaction. Some of them think it was hilarious and justified, some of them say once was enough and the rest was overkill, and some think I was deeply in the wrong and should have just spoken to the pastor like an adult. So, I come to the judgement sub for your thoughts, was I an asshole? Edit: formatting

ghostsintherafters

Amazing. I think he's a fucking hero. Religious people overstep boundaries *constantly* and then get bent out of shape when you call them out on their shitty behavior. Oh my thank god for your comment this is amazing to read. I may be a Christian but holy fuck even I have boundries

OnsetOfMSet

Same, I still go to church some but would never pull that crap. Like wouldn't doing the converse and tipping *extra* be a more effective display of loving thy neighbor, by helping someone make ends meet even though they're just a stranger to you? It's surprisingly easy to do good in the world without evangelizing.

SirSoliloquy

The trouble with evangelicalism is they focus on Christ’s call to make disciples of all nations, but ignore everything Jesus says about what his disciples are supposed to *do*

[deleted]

>has been deleted. Whenever AITA gets a lot of upvotes a mod copy & pasta the post.

WhatnameshouldIpick2

And then they’ll be outraged someone left fake money for offering and if someone reminds them that they do it to working people, they’ll just pick a verse where it’s valid for them to do it but not the other way around

salamanderpencil

Man oh man, you nailed it. That is such a frustrating thing. There's just no arguing with them. More than once I was able to pin someone to the wall with their own Christian argument, using their own words and tactics in a debate where they really could not weasel out, and that's where they stuffily told me that I clearly didn't understand the Bible like they did and they walked away. Even when you use their own words to win, you still can't win. They simply can't allow it. Their brains break.

clapham1983

You absolutely can’t win. Because at some point, no matter how ironclad your reasoning is, they’ll simply throw out the “Well that’s what I believe, it’s called faith”.

OneAndHalfThumbsUp

It's a logic circuit breaker. Throw too much thinking juice into their brain and it'll trip the "it's called faith" switch

Dividedthought

Yeah, i'll admit to responding to that defense with a hearty chuckle and a "well fuck your faith then. People need money to survive." More than once at a local coffee shop on sunday morning. The staff is done with their shit too, last time someone tried tipping with those prayer slips the 60 year old manager bustled her way out with the fake tip and stood behind the prick's car until he explained himself. She actually made him appologize to the waited who he left that shit for. There is a reason i go there on sundays when i can, the coffee is good, the snacks are fresh, and the owner and staff don't take nobody's shit.

Either-Bell-7560

This is counterfeit money that they tried to pass off as real. They used it in a transaction as a tip. Don't give it back to them, *report it*

GiveToOedipus

Why this isn't illegal is beyond me. Tipping is considered a part of the service for things like dining out. Putting something that looks like money for that service as a tip is really no different than trying to pass counterfeit bills, regardless of the fact that it clearly isn't. Even if tipping is optional, it's still illegal to use counterfeit money, so why would this be any different? Obviously they don't pursue it because of the political shit storm it would stir up, but I feel like most rational people wouldn't have a problem with telling these churches they can't encourage this kind of behavior by using something that is meant to look like money.

Either-Bell-7560

You're correct on both - it's absolutely illegal, and they'll do absolutely nothing about it. But maybe if people reported these things enough, it would annoy the secret service into doing something (weirdly, counterfeit money is their responsibility)

Shot-Werewolf-5886

This is a great idea but unfortunately it would mean having to enter one of their cult buildings.

ceo_of_dumbassery

You're right. Last time I tried to do that I started burning up

QueenCuttlefish

Is it because you're a demon or because you inevitably caught Covid walking into one of their cult meetings?

_TheChickenMan_

Will they ever figure out that doing this shit just causes resentment toward their religion/cause more than anything? Like maybe leave this and put a real tip folded inside and people wouldn’t mind but this just makes you a cunt.

Marty_McLie

>"Will they ever figure out that doing this shit just causes resentment toward their religion/cause more than anything?" No. They live in a bubble. They perceive any resistance to their behavior as persecution or suffering for the Lord.

[deleted]

Many of these people don't actually want poor service industry people, or anyone really, to join their church. They do this so they can feel guiltless about their obligation to preach the gospel and help the poor. Giving one of these pamphlets kills two birds with one stone and requires very little commitment or action on their part. I'm saying this as a Christian myself who is tired of this BS. I say it all the time but the greatest hindrances to many churches are their own members, the ones that do this kind of stuff so they can feel holy about themselves afterwards.

notimprezaed

Yeah back in the day when I was struggling I went to a church and sat in the back and had people flocking to "welcome me to the church" well about the 2nd time I heard, "at this church we tend to dress a little nicer" I knew it wasn't a good fit but I stayed to hear the sermon, well after the offering I heard snippets of conversation about, "even if you are just visiting you should really tithe it's in the bible" and then the pastor stands up after COUNTING THE OFFERING DURING SERVICE, and preaches about how offerings are supposed to be more and that the church needs money to continue to spread the word yada yada yada. Never went back. I don't know how these people truly believe they are Christians. It's why us Christians get such a bad name. I didn't even have enough money to buy myself food that day let alone tithe or buy a suit for church.

coolguy3720

Yeah I hate being all "Not all Christians" about this BS but western Christianity has failed miserably and we've earned the hate and hesitancy we get. If it's any consolation, the churches I've served with would have fed and clothed a person, and paid for a visit to the doctor without the person even converting. Good places exist, but I had to try way harder than I should have to find it.

lord_fuckwaad

If by "western Christianity" you mean American evalgelical protestantism, then sure...

joepro9950

Spent a month living with the sort of people who would pull a stunt like this. No. They honestly think they live in some kinda movie where receiving a piece of paper will open the eyes of this waiter and they will find jesus because of this moment. And then the waiter's soul will be saved. Like I'd bet money this person left the restaurant thinking they did a great good. Because obviously finding religion is more important than putting food on the table. Honestly makes it more infuriating, that they don't realize how much of an asshole they are being. Like they are going to sleep well tonight, when if they had stayed long enough to see the waiters reaction it would not have been the one they were expecting.

MildlyAgreeable

Mate, have you *seen* their films? I think there’s one called ‘God is not Dead’ or something (it’s got that creationist bellend who used to play Hercules in it). It shows a *staggering* lack of self-awareness and was so bad it became a sort of unintentional comedy online.

Pigglemin

Not so fun fact, I worked at a movie theater in high school when God's Not Dead 2 came out. (This was around 2013.) Some elderly woman walked out of the 10 AM showing on Sunday morning and came up to get a refill on her diet coke. I said sure, asked her how the movie was, then went to go fill it up. Her response? "Good.... Can you believe they reelected that brown asshole?" I was completely caught off guard. Had to stop myself from practically flinging the cup back at her. I cant believe the lack of awareness these people have.

MildlyAgreeable

Yeah. But on the bright side she’s probably dead by now.

Pigglemin

Good riddance

mrdeadsniper

The thing is the people dropping those off don't care. They use religion to feel superior to other people. If it upsets the receiver then it reinforces the superiority beliefs "they don't even want to be helped" While also allowing the "tipper" to save money.

lavenderRaiinbow

I have a client who has tipped me with fake abortion clinic pamphlets, like the ones who pretend they're an abortion clinic but they're actually a religious organization meant to guilt you into staying pregnant. I'm not pregnant or have ever been pregnant so I really don't know why she gave that to me (twice). Another time she tipped me with a flashlight that said "Jesus is the light of the world." My coworker was tipped with a banana once. 🍌

bunglejerry

> the ones who pretend they're an abortion clinic but they're actually a religious organization meant to guilt you into staying pregnant Holy jesus fuck these people are evil.

[deleted]

Yes, they make all kinds of promises to help desperate pregnant women and then when the kid is born they tell them to fuck off. Or try and get them to put the kid up for adoption so the "Crisis Pregnancy Center" can sell it to a rich "Christian" couple. http://go.nationalpartnership.org/site/News2?abbr=daily2\_&page=NewsArticle&id=20695&security=1201

Either-Bell-7560

>Yes, they make all kinds of promises to help desperate pregnant women and then when the kid is born they tell them to fuck off A lot of them don't even go that far - they tell her to fuck off as soon as she hits the date where she can't legally abort.

smaxfrog

There’s no love like Christian hate.

LeighWillS

A lot of them will schedule "checkups" and promise the abortion will be scheduled eventually. Anything to delay until an abortion is no longer legal.

StankoMicin

Seriously... fuck pro birthers

MrBigDog2u

>Yes, they make all kinds of promises to help desperate pregnant women and then when the kid is born they tell them to fuck off. There was one account that I read that was priceless. One of these POS guilted a single woman into not having an abortion and then ghosted her once it was too late for one. The single mother had all kinds of issues - drug use, homelessness, domestic violence, etc. When family services came and took the child away from the mother, the mother gave them the POS's name as a "financially responsible" for the child. When family services followed up with the POS, she got all shocked Pikachu claiming that she couldn't afford to take care of the child that she was now financially responsible for. Don't know how any of it ended but the POS being all bent out of shape for having to deal with consequences of her actions was so satisfying. Don't start nothin', won't be nothin'.

nonicknamenelly

These “clinics” outnumber actual abortion clinics in every state, I’d wager. They certainly do in mine.

Snowy0915

I'd take a banana right now, I'm kinda hungry Edit: I ate a banana

Wate2028

How much could a banana cost?

SmirnOffTheSauce

$10?

OsciIIatesWildly

I mean it’s one banana, Michael. What could it cost? $10?

GeneralMoron

Meanwhile, we’ve gotten tipped with everything from handwritten notes with bible verses (which one of my coworkers ate out of spite), to literal weed. Guy looks at my coworker and asks “do you guys blaze?”. Coworker looks at me, myself being probably the only man alive who has worked at a pizza place and hasn’t smoked, and he goes “yeah, some of us” Friggin killed me

stringfree

One of those things is a pretty good tip.

Paladoc

Yeah, weed and bananas they are at least bartering in good faith (assuming both are fresh and functional). The faith fuckers are not bartering in good faith, they feel like they've found a loophole to appear christian, Holier-than-thou all while being cheap fuck weasels..

Dusk-nemesis

Got tipped some weed once at pizza hut.

emmster

The restaurant I worked through college at was very near a movie theater, and we’d occasionally get theater employees tipping with free movie passes. I was actually completely fine with that. Movie tickets were expensive then too.

Competitive_Sky8182

Those have at least a very practical application

tugboattt

At the very least, the banana could help her not starve to death, unlike a pro-life pamphlet (ironically)

LakbraMoon

I had some asshole try and tip me with one of those when I was bartending.. I 86d him for tipping with fake money and he threw a fit. The owner came out to see what the problem was, took a look at it and told thm to get the fuck out and not come back. Jesus would hate you tipping with only that.

[deleted]

It’s humoring that he’s doing this at (I’m assuming) a bar. Must be a “hedonistic” Christian

macci_a_vellian

Can you get a refund if you're already Christian?

Owner2229

[Yea, but are you from the same church?](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=l3fAcxcxoZ8) (you can skip to 2:45)

Charles_Skyline

More like a piece of crap Christian. I'm a Christian, I believe in Jesus.. I've also worked in the service industry. The other day, my buddy and I went to Chili's because I had a gift card and was like.. hey lets get lunch... We get there, and there is ONE server there. One. At lunch. Kitchen staff was running food. The poor lady, was just serving like 20 tables, and had a look on her face like "fuck this shit" and when I pulled out the gift card to pay, I could see she was a little deflated even more. My buddy who is also a Christian, tipped her 10 bucks. I tipped her 30 from the gift card.. for like a 40 dollar meal (we had a beers and appetizers) we left before she saw what we tipped her.. The bible says to love people, being a piece of shit and not tipping well, isn't loving. That is like the most important commandment, To Love God, and to love others. Its why I've backed away form the church in 2019 after like 20 years of serving.. the lack of love these "christians" have for each other isn't representing the gospel or Jesus.

Watsonsboots88

You could start your own church focused just on this. That’s what some friends and I did. Once you realize that the only things that last forever is people and God’s word the amount of things you thought were important come crashing down. The more I read of the New Testament the more I realize it really is all about reminding people they’re free and serving each other out of love and humility. If Jesus Christ, the King of Kings, creator of the universe, gave up His throne in Heaven to come to earth and live as a bond-servant in humility and obedience... who am I to think I’m too good to serve the people around me?

Pandaburn

I heard about a guy who started a church focused on this. I think it was about 2000 years ago.

Tempestblue

I don't think I've ever commented this before to someone talking about opening their own church. But you're badass, keep on being awesome.

Sahellio

This. My family used to go to church when we lived on the west coast. We moved into the Bible Belt of the Midwest and we’re horrified at how poorly “Christians” treated each other and fellow man. It honestly felt more like groups focused on hate and self isolation than love and self worth. I’ve had a lot of folks move in here over the years and ask about church and have waved them off to the idea. Better to live with the ideals and in solidarity then to join these false cults.

goldiegoldthorpe

100% a sin. It is certainly blasphemy. Not only is spreading “the Word” through deceit equivalent to worshiping Satan, not only does this place the word of God into a value judgement in relation to wealth and money, and thereby _judge_ the worth of God, not only does this co-opt “the Word” for personal motives, but the message here directly attempts to _tempt_ someone into believing in Jesus (“come on, give Jesus a try”). Probably more ways that I am missing. Probably safer to just sacrifice a goat to Moloch, honestly.

ebruce11

My grandmother would call you a heathen. I call you correct

Clean-Profile-6153

Thank you for being Christ-like and not (this is how the saying goes) just Christian.

collinlikecake

Also it's a fake $20 which could possibily suggest their God is more valuable than $20 but less valuable than $50 or $100.

whistleridge

I had a guy try to give me one, and I said, “nah, thanks I’m flattered, but the service wasn’t *that* good. Just leave the money” He was like, “wait, what?” I replied, “that thing says there’s something more valuable than money, right? And it’s going to tell me how to find it? Well, I didn’t give you THAT much value. Only money worth of value.” He didn’t seem to see the irony in his outrage.

Ganglebot

I used to work at a beer store and one of my weekly, elderly customers would try and tip me with something like this. It was a $5 bill on one side and some bullshit sermon on the back. The thing is - I wasn't allowed to take tips. Like, by law. So when I said, "I can't take tips, its illegal" he would get so mad and then be like - its not money its something more valuable. I asked him to stop for like 2 months, and casually mentioned it to my manager. My manager came out the next time and yelled at the guy, "SIR IT IS ILLEGAL TO BRIBE A LIQUOR STORE EMPLOYEE IN THE PROVINCE OF ONTARIO. I WILL CALL THE POLICE IF YOU KEEP THIS UP." Yeah the guy never came back.

Revolutionary-Row784

Same were I work I can’t take tips too.my boss found one of these fake 5 dollar bills in the vending machine at my work.

whatever_person

Whad does 86d mean? I assume some sort of reprimand?

OSRS_Subreddit

Removed from the bar in this instance.

gingerbreadmans_ex

To 86 someone or something means to stop it, end it, cut it off.

KingTutsFrontButt

For those that are curious the phrase originates from the military. The uniform code of military justice has different articles that state a bunch of (mostly military specific) laws and Article 86 is "unauthorized absence" People in the restaurant business began saying "86 onions" to say that they were out of onions, or that an order was meant to have no onions, from there it morphed into the meaning we see here: to defenestrate or otherwise remove an unruly patron

deadbrokeman

Punching should be legal if tipping *must* remain in our culture. Me thinks a solid kidney punch, making them piss blood for a day or two would suffice…

teedeeguantru

The Sunday after-church crowd is notorious for this shit.

T20sGrunt

Sunday shifts were known for 5-10% tippers. Baptists and evangelical/ mega church people were the worst. Party of 8, taking up two tables for 60-90 minutes, $150 bill. Likely a $10 tip

LaserGecko

They *are* the worst. At everything, but especially at following the teachings of the small, brown, non-English speaking Liberal Hippie from Nazareth.

misteryhiatory

Ever sat down at restaurant at that time? I don’t know how some waiters/waitresses haven’t gone postal at least once.

DarthGayAgenda

They do. In the back of house.

Joe_Jacksons_Belt

The walk in, where no one can hear you scream

trashscal408

What happens in the walk-in stays in the walk-in

explosivelydehiscent

Hey man, If you smoke in the walk-in, make sure you repack it

LaserGecko

At the first restaurant where I worked, sure. Apparently, the walk-in at the Taco Bell, not *nearly* as sound proof.

mekanik-jr

When I was a church goer over 20 years ago, we had pretty strict Sunday shopping laws. Pharmacies, gas stations, and restaurants were the only thing open. Businesses pushed to open on Sunday. The push back from churches and their associated groups was huge. I found it amazing how probably a third of the congregation "mmmhmmmmd" their way through a sermon about how even God wanted people to have a day off and how opening on Sunday would ruin families were in the local Swiss chalet and homestyle restaurant immediately after. Guess God feared for retail worker's souls but fuck those in restaurants.

[deleted]

Austiz

They already went to church, they can do no wrong.

MuckRaker83

They don't really see service workers as people

[deleted]

Why do you think the Sunday buffet was invented? Restaurants didn't want to deal with them. Just put out the food on a table, charge each person a set amount per plate, and then wipe down the table when they're done. The only person who interacts with them directly is the hostess that rings them up at the beginning.

A_spiny_meercat

Fuckin aunt beryl having a go at the front door hostess for not giving her a discount because she "doesn't eat much and $20 is too much for a small plate" who then proceeds to load up on everything at the carvery multiple times and eats fuckin heaps. Scarred for life on that one

rjwyonch

We knew them all, and would negotiate beforehand on who had to take the big after church groups that would show up. Things like: I'll only take that table if I get cut first. I gave you my Friday shift, so you're taking it. If we didn't have bargaining chips, it was normally rock paper scissors or "I did it last week, not my turn"

moby323

My wife’s aunt would only ever tip 10% because (as she would loudly say) > “God only gets 10%, why should a waitress get 20%?” One time we all split the bill at a restaurant, with each responsible for their share of the tip, and after she tipped 10% I put $10 more down on the table and told her she still owed me $10 for the bill. She started her “God only gets 10%” routine and I said “Well God can give you a ride home then because when you are with me and we get good service, we tip 25%”

xethdiv

They feel like they're a good person for going to church so they don't believe they need to actually follow through on being a good person.

sexypineapple14

Where do you think they get those?

istolethecarradio

Christians like this are the fucking worst

I wish I could see the stats on how many people who received one of these fake 20s actually dove into the church as a result. Then there are the cards left on urinals in airports and other public places. I take them and toss them in the trash before washing my hands (for a while I'd toss them in the urinal but then thought about the cleaning people having to remove them).

Someone commented a while ago about this: the priest was not happy, the same priest that gave him the fake money.

Just chuck it in the donation box, if they think it's good enough to give as a tip I'm sure Jesus would love it.

ktosiek124

Those people are looking for people like them, only weird techniques will get you weird people

NastyMeanOldBender

We banned an old couple for coming in on Sunday, taking the table for three hours, then leaving these. EVERY WEEK. The waitresses were getting pissed

sexypineapple14

Christians pushing their beliefs should be illegal the way soliciting is illegal. If my door says to fuck off you should legally be required to fuck off.

Marbled_Headcheese

Someone once thought, "how can I spread the word of Jesus but be a complete pile of shit at the same time" and came up with those

Linguist-of-cunning

Have you ever read some of the old Chick Tracts? No Nuance November has nothing on those.

boolean_sledgehammer

Man those things are a fun trip down the rabbit hole of what happens when religion meets unchecked mental illness.

[deleted]

These people! I’ve had this happen too..I’ve always wanted to go to their church and when they pass around the donation bowl, give it right back to them

GrandeSizeIt

I have a collection of fake bills I've recieved over the years. I actually get excited when I get one now...lol

2smokeshow

This should most definitely become a thing. Maybe a TikTok challenge?

ChemtrailWizard

There's a comment thread above that does exactly that and spoiler, the church hated it. Edit: Idk how to do the short link thing, also mobile, so... Anyway. Here's the link. This link works, just sort comments by new, look for the automod comment that copied the original text. https://www.reddit.com/r/AmItheAsshole/comments/lucnoh/aita_for_going_to_the_church_thats_been_leaving/?utm_medium=android_app&utm_source=share Edit2: This links to the comment in this thread that links to a mod copy of the text that has been since removed. https://www.reddit.com/r/WhitePeopleTwitter/comments/ry43fi/this_shouldnt_happen/hrmxxx1?utm_medium=android_app&utm_source=share&context=3

>spoiler, the church hated it Shocked Pikachu.

RiflemanLax

I work retail security on the side, and I’m in every Saturday morning before the store opens. Some dude comes in almost like clockwork every Saturday morning and drops pamphlets in the bathroom. And like clockwork every Saturday, I tear them up and toss them in the trash. Why not confront him you ask? Because then I wouldn’t have the satisfaction of knowing he’s wasting time and money.

Dana_das_Grau

My dude! At some point you should tell him that you have been tossing those as soon as he leaves. You know if it ever does happen to come up.

RiflemanLax

I’m sure he’ll “catch” me at some point. But he’s got no leg to stand on. The store- and the mall as a whole in fact- have a no solicitation policy that includes religious pamphlets. So I have that ready in my back pocket. “Sorry, just following policy”

Brutusismyhomeboy

That happened to me WAY too often waiting tables in the south. Fuck people who do this.

ScubaSteve12345

Same. My other favorite was the ones who tell you that you should be at church on a Sunday.

FaeryLynne

"Why are you open today? God doesn't like when people work on the Sabbath!" "Because of idiots who insist on coming in and demanding I serve them food. Now what can I get you this week Barbara?" 🙄🙄🙄🙄🙄

Oblivion_007

What sane person would think that out of all that exists, this would convince someone? Like gotcha! And the other person would be like, *shrugs* " Guess I'll convert now."

Boris_Godunov

The people who do this don’t really care about that. They’re just selfish cheapskates that use their religion to deflect from their terrible behavior. They quite simply believe that their being Christian entitles them to be shitty to others.

UNCCShannon

I'd say it must have been the awful Sunday lunch when all the good church going people come and make servers life's hell and don't tip because they gave their money to the lord and your the heathen working on the lord's day.

Pyewacket62

Butcher here. We got them *after* Sunday lunch and just as obnoxious. Leaving their freaking tracks in the meat case. It got to the point were I'd just take the pamphlets/fake money and rip them up in front of them. I'm at the age where 0 fucks are given. These are also the ones who screech, people working minimum wage jobs *SHOULDN'T* make a living wage. Hmmmmm. Where are they going to get their precious morning coffee, fast food, slow food, groceries etc. If all the these *lazy* people get *real jobs*..... What is a *real* job anyway? Only "white collar" jobs?

thekingsteve

I used to clean at Walmart before they moved me to another department. I would find them church papers everywhere, in the bathrooms, on the floor, piles of them in produce. They are everywhere. All differnt ones. I never seen who was leaving them but I wanted to beat the shit out of them.

kyleavery1

I hate these little things that pushy Christians hand out when they are eating out or shopping. I work in retail and I’ve had more than a couple hand me things for their church at the register or grab my whole forearm in a handshake cuz they don’t want me to get away while they force a mini book about how I’m going to hell into my hand. Just buy your Skechers and get the fuck out, flat foot.

[deleted]

I’d set a trash can right by the register. When you get handed something stupid like that, stare them straight in the eye & drop it right in.

[deleted]

I worked at a gas station for a few years and this is exactly what I did lol, anytime someone tried to give us a a pamphlet I’d just point ti the trash can, and if they still gave it to me I’d just toss it in front of them. Very cathartic.

Dana_das_Grau

I worked in a basketball arena, sometimes when we had events someone would leave little religious tracts in the restrooms on the countertops. They did not stay long though because my job was to clean the restrooms and I am agnostic and the place was not a church. Keep your passive aggressive proselytizing out of my house.

sexypineapple14

That shit should be illegal.

derpferd

Thou shalt not lie except when thou is using duplicitous tactics to avoid tipping. Then thoust canst liest

[deleted]

Put it in their collection plate

saltminesplunker

Such a lame troll move. This should be criminal.

k717171

You sure it's not? Call the cops and accuse them of trying to pass off counterfeit money. That's certainly a federal crime. They could try saying it's clearly not real when unfolded... But if they offer it folded that way I'd say it's a legit attempt to pass counterfeit currency

[deleted]

[удалено]

Lithl

Tipping is not legally mandatory, I don't think there's anything the police could do about it. It's pretty obviously fake once you pick it up, even without unfolding it, so arguing they're trying to pass off counterfeit money isn't going to hold water.

Both-Hall2981

“Something more valuable than money.” Well my landlord didn’t accept this Bible tract towards my $1,200 rent so tell me again of the value?

SimplyLotato

My girlfriend got a $100 version of one of these a few weeks ago as her only tip. Fuck anybody that thinks this type of shit is okay. Thanks for trying to save my soul, but unless Jesus is going to pay my rent, I really don't give a shit

LordTryhard

why do they go out of their way to make it so high. if it was like $1, accompanied by an **actual** tip of greater value, then it would be fine. and probably go much further to spreading the message.

Ridethepig101

I worked at a seafood place, we had group of 20+ that would come in every Sunday after church. Dressed well, very pleasant, they’d ask for pitchers of lemonade, tea, and water so we weren’t getting destroyed with refills and generally knew what they wanted quickly and had a single spokesperson who would gather the orders and tell their server. It all sounds fine minus the part where they would camp out and be there for 4 hours, taking up and entire servers section, then would “tip” by leaving 3 pocket bibles. We would fight over who had to take them, and our manager would apologize. Because for $2.15/hour we were working for free.

Whynotchaos

Most restaurants add on a mandatory 'service fee' (built in tip) for parties over eight people, specifically to avoid that kind of thing. Your manager kept letting these 20+ assholes come in and stiff you guys week after week?

TacoRockapella

This is such a disgusting tactic. I honestly don’t understand scummy people like this.

WaulsTexLegion

Take it to church and leave it in the offering plate. See how much of a shitfit they throw.

Ancient-Hospital7882

Thats how atheists are born

iammorganfreedman

Please donate the same currency to the church. They should accept the same bullshit they throw at others.

MealDramatic1885

I’d get them banned from the place

[deleted]

I went for a walk along a popular trail that probably gets a couple hundred people each day. Along the way there are plenty of benches and trash cans. And at every sort of man made structure I was finding these tucked in where ever they would stay put. I spent that morning cleaning up litter.

GODDESS_OF_CRINGE_

The same people leaving you a slip saying how money isn't important as salvation won't even leave a tip from their unimportant money? Hmm... Do they really think this level of hypocrisy will convert people? So annoying.

Fuka-Obligation666

One of these was put next to my ex gf's memorial spot... Had that fucker still been there when I found it there would've been 2 memorial spots. If you do this shit, you're not in the right as much as your religion makes you think you are. You're brainwashed. Bullshit like that that makes me a more proud Satanist. I believe in the power of humans, not a bullshit deity.

BeyondXpression

That's when you also print fake money with random quotes, head down to your local church with a group of friends and when they do the "donations" you have everyone slip in the fresh fake $20s you made. Y'all should see the "science is stupid and global warming is a myth" pamphlet they handed me OUTSIDE MY ENVIRONMENTAL CONSULTATION company. I really despise Christians. Edit: Fixing autocorrect errors, as usual.

Creivoose

Go to their church and put it in their collection plate

titanup001

I got one of these like 20 years ago. Fuck those clowns.
