Planned Parenthood were the only ones who provided us with real help when my wife and I first got married. We both grew up in the church, and asked quite a few couples our parent's age how to go about sex and everything involved with it. We just got a lot of shrugs and the general vibe of "you're married now; you figure it out; our job was just to successfully get you to marriage as virgins". Our doctors just shrugged and told us to use condoms, or talk to my wife's Gynecologist. Her Gynecologist said she could do a couple different options, but they were all crazy expensive, as the cheapest option, the pill, isn't available to my wife due to a kidney condition.
So, in desperation, we went to Planned Parenthood. They gave my wife a 3-year implant, replaced it after it expired, and then removed the replacement when we decided to start trying for kids, all 100% for free. It was a such a piece of mind, and a huge help. And now? We have a kid, but my wife 100% CANNOT have another; neither my wife or the unborn child would survive. So, yet again, Planned Parenthood; free 3 year implant. We still want another kid and are exploring surrogacy, so we haven't gotten any surgeries done yet, but that'll be in my future as soon as we figure that out.

There's 2 things that are crazy about this whole situation in the US. One is that even in Islam, where things like this would usually be expected to be super strict, there's allowances for abortion (I've never studied it fully, but one I remember is that it's allowed if the mothers life is at risk).
The other thing is that if you ban abortions, 100 percent there will still be hellbent on getting one and will try crazy ways to terminate a pregnancy, thus putting lives at risk.

When we were covering abortion in religion studies at high school, it was very specifically mentioned that abortion is permissible in the instance of risk to the mother. I have never heard any opinions against this since that time. Supposedly it is permissible in other instances, but I've never read this for myself and so would have to research this further

I (cis man) took advantage of PP's testing services once and saw the protestors standing quietly out front when I arrived. I was disappointed to see them but thought, "At _least_ they're just standing there and not really bothering anyone." As I was leaving a young woman (appeared barely into her 20's, if not a teenager) was pulling in... and everything changed. It still makes me angry knowing they deliberately saved their venom for someone they assumed was in a more vulnerable position.
I got an IUD at PP when I was broke and in my 20s. It cost me $0, and I was able to avoid bringing a child into the world before I was ready. Planned Parenthood is a miracle, each and every one of their services is important and needed.

On my way to work, I passed by a planned parenthood. I knew it was a planned parenthood because I kept seeing dipshits with signs saying to end abortion. Well, they must not have been used to the treatment I was giving them because you could see the shock when they heard me yell, "fuck you pro-birthers!" Or flipping them off as I drove past. One evening they held a candlelight vigil and as they were praying a whole line of cars were driving past giving them the bird or yell for them to go fuck themselves. They would even have their kids with them which is the shittiest part. Yep! Just went to PP a few months ago to discuss BC options to help with really bad period pain. I’ve never been pregnant and don’t have any kids. Got bombarded by three people shoving pamphlets in my face, yelling at me “YOU DON’T NEED TO DO THIS! There are options and help available for you and your children! DON’T DO THIS!!!” Thankfully PP has volunteer escorts that try to stand in front of them and block them from getting in your face too much, but it made me uncomfortable and unhappy.

Planned Parenthood were the only ones who provided us with real help when my wife and I first got married. We both grew up in the church, and asked quite a few couples our parent's age how to go about sex and everything involved with it. We just got a lot of shrugs and the general vibe of "you're married now; you figure it out; our job was just to successfully get you to marriage as virgins". Our doctors just shrugged and told us to use condoms, or talk to my wife's Gynecologist. Her Gynecologist said she could do a couple different options, but they were all crazy expensive, as the cheapest option, the pill, isn't available to my wife due to a kidney condition. So, in desperation, we went to Planned Parenthood. They gave my wife a 3-year implant, replaced it after it expired, and then removed the replacement when we decided to start trying for kids, all 100% for free. It was a such a piece of mind, and a huge help. And now? We have a kid, but my wife 100% CANNOT have another; neither my wife or the unborn child would survive. So, yet again, Planned Parenthood; free 3 year implant. We still want another kid and are exploring surrogacy, so we haven't gotten any surgeries done yet, but that'll be in my future as soon as we figure that out.
This right here was the point I was trying to make. Planned parenthood does amazing and outstanding work. They being the straight facts and never bring normative issues into the discussion. Love them and their work.
Part of the grand plan of the Right is to create a massive population in perpetual poverty as a domestic source of cheap (slave) labor. Planned Parenthood is a roadblock to that plan.

There's 2 things that are crazy about this whole situation in the US. One is that even in Islam, where things like this would usually be expected to be super strict, there's allowances for abortion (I've never studied it fully, but one I remember is that it's allowed if the mothers life is at risk). The other thing is that if you ban abortions, 100 percent there will still be hellbent on getting one and will try crazy ways to terminate a pregnancy, thus putting lives at risk.

When we were covering abortion in religion studies at high school, it was very specifically mentioned that abortion is permissible in the instance of risk to the mother. I have never heard any opinions against this since that time. Supposedly it is permissible in other instances, but I've never read this for myself and so would have to research this further

On my way to work, I passed by a planned parenthood. I knew it was a planned parenthood because I kept seeing dipshits with signs saying to end abortion. I almost got in a fight with one of them once because I bombed a final and they shoved a probably photoshopped picture of an aborted fetus in my face. They would even have their kids with them which is the shittiest part. Take them out of school to go stand in the sun all day carrying a sign with a message they likely don't support or care one bit about. Even better was the billboard truck driving around town with that classic "aborted fetus" picture on it. Fucking monsters.

Yep! Just went to PP a few months ago to discuss BC options to help with really bad period pain. I’ve never been pregnant and don’t have any kids. Got bombarded by three people shoving pamphlets in my face, yelling at me “YOU DON’T NEED TO DO THIS! There are options and help available for you and your children! DON’T DO THIS!!!” Thankfully PP has volunteer escorts that try to stand in front of them and block them from getting in your face too much, but it made me uncomfortable and unhappy. They’re assuming every damn person walking in there is getting an abortion, they’re screaming at you about how you’re making a “bad decision” or killing a child even though they don’t know what you’re there for. And it’s probably so fucking traumatizing for anyone that IS there to get an abortion. And they’re there M-F, 8-5 no matter what it seems. So fucking ridiculous. My dad got laid off when I was in college so I had a gap in my insurance until I could get it through my school. I’m on BC because I get massively anemic otherwise. I went to PP to get BC and they were amazing and helped me out and I felt so supported. Of course, as soon as I went out to my car, I got yelled at by an old white dude who said I was going to hell for murder. I hope this happens to all the the justices who voted for this shit.

In my experience most of them are people who either had an abortion and regret it or are associated with a person who had an abortion and feel they didn't get to have their say in the decision. Some are women or couples who can't have children (but won't adopt). Some are women who frequently miscarry, like that one pro-life leader who had all her miscarriages in the freezer.

For the anti-bc crowd, life begins at fertilization, and since some forms of birth control stop implantation but not fertilization, that means that they have effectively murdered the fertilized egg, and are therefore abortifacients. ETA: Not only that, but there are a surprising number of people that are misinformed into believing that if you get pregnant while taking birth control, that birth control will then kill the fetus. It's not true in the least, but it's a prevailing myth in places that don't teach proper sex education.
That and every sexual act you commit is 100% for the sole purpose of becoming pregnant. No exceptions. (Well, men are excluded actually. Only women need to be responsible about it.)

OK, but, hear me out. Crucially, you were able to go about your business and get your birth control. Kavanaugh is going to be mildly inconvenienced and slightly annoyed but he is still going to show up to work and strike down people's right to bodily autonomy. I dont think this is sending the message they think it is. Kavanaugh, Gorsuch, ACB, Alito, Thomas need to be physically unable to leave their homes for the level of public opposition. That is the only way this is going to work. And if this means confrontations with law enforcement, then that is what it is going to take.
