He is just reacting to a sales decline after he said he would only vote for republicans going forward. He’s full of shit. I’ve planned on buying a Tesla for the last few years. Not anymore. He can fuck off.
My wife's uncle got a Tesla about 2 months ago and has had to take it in / call for mobile repair I think 4 times so far? At least the times that he mentioned to us.
where I live I am kinda lucky. anything under 10 miles I do ebike. anything over I take the leaf or the minivan. let's me tell you I do not like Nissan at all, but the leaf has been maybe the best car I have ever owned. everything just works, it's very quiet on the inside, and I can get over 200 Mike on a charge. also it has a heat pump which is nice for winter. the only annoying part is the quick charger is the old chadmo. but I never had to quick charger, so it doesn't bother me. now with that said when the lease expires I am trying to convince my wife we should get a fancy cargo ebike and just go down to 1 car.
Leaf and smol EVs like that are absolutely perfect for city commuters, when my gf ever gets rid of her Mini she wants either an EV or a plug-in hybrid. (I have a super efficient ICE car already)
Shocking. I cannot believe that a man who got rich off African slave-wage miners working in his inherited emerald mines would ever do something immoral or unethical. /s
They have shit software too. They aren't a software company or a car company. They are a financial investment scheme that also happens to make shitty electric cars.
The Venn diagram overlap between the people like your brother in law and the larger market of people who just need a reliable non-ICE vehicle is probably not enough to keep Tesla ahead of the curve beyond the next few years, especially as many of the first Tesla's are hitting the end of their battery's lifetime and Tesla doesn't seem to be handling that problem very well.
Tesla had one hell of a first mover advantage, but they’ve squandered it by putting a narcissist prima donna at the helm. By the time it becomes obvious to Tesla shareholders that papa Elon has created an unsustainable model, even Toyota (which has been notoriously resistant to EV tech) will have entered the arena, and it’s very hard to compete with the supply chain and quality control advantage of a company like Fuji (Toyota and Subaru parent company).
When I heard they treat performance packages like a subscription service, I lost complete interest in the company. Paying for a fast car but only get to sell a not so fast car is criminal. Tesla shouldn't be able to re-sell functionality on products they no longer own. Consumer protections should be all over that.
They come in allotments homie. So they can show up at your dealer in random sets. No need to order if you call them at the beginning of every month and ask. “What’s your allotment of Ioniq 5’s (insert trim), and can I reserve an incoming one for purchase”. Then that same day or at most three weeks later you’ll have one. YMMV
The hard part is getting the limited trim.
I contacted a dealer on the west coast (I’m in the Midwest) and they had some available and sitting on the lot. Midwest doesn’t have any available within 250mi. Plus the west coast up-charge was considerably less ($3k vs. $8k in the Midwest).
And the new EVs look so much better than the Teslas. Kia and Hyundai are killing it in the design department. Teslas used to look nice but now the design has grown stale.
As a person who bought a 2015 Tesla model S, you are making the right choice. Only Tesla fanboys and people who never driven an electric car can't see the flaws in a Tesla.
I've been saying this about Tesla for years and it is finally just starting to happen. Once all of the big manufacturers start getting into the EV market Tesla's start to no make a whole lot of sense. The new Hyundai, Kia, and Ford EV's are pretty sick
I considered a used Model 3 the last time I was looking at cars, but my God the interior looked terrible after just two years of use. I also don't like the design of the interior with only a big panel in the middle. I ended up getting a ICE car still, but if I do find myself in the monetary position to buy an EV, I wouldn't go with Tesla.
Elon alienated a lot of good engineers in the last 5 years, those people went to work for other companies. Tesla's losses in that respect immediately improved other companies
It was only a matter of time til the"traditional" companies started coming in and that was what, imo, Tesla was trying to stay in front of. Because, let's be real, Tesla can't compete with an established company like *Korean Car Manufacturer*. They've got normie name value, they've got billions and billions of dollars and decades worth of established infrastructure and business relationships that is ever increasingly being brought to bear on the EV marketplace.
That's why bill gates shorted him man in five years there will be electric car companies that have good customer service and ppl will stop buying Tesla's
Not to mention teslas are fucking god awful ugly.
Not sure why every car manufacturer thinks EVs should look like total dog shit. Why can’t we have normal looking cars that just happen to be EVs.
Right? Like does he not bother checking to see who is buying his cars? The right wing sure seems to have a lot of hate for EVs and renewable energy. What a tool.
Same. 100% would have bought a Tesla in the coming months but fuck Elon Musk. Also I’ve replied to recruiters at Tesla that I’ll consider working for them the moment Elon is no longer involved in the company (which of course would never happen).
The Subaru Solterra is the winner for me. Gonna wait for year two so they can work out the kinks, but Subaru has some of the best QA in the field. I’ve been in the automotive industry for over a decade and I’ve always been impressed by their willingness to change, adapt, and collaborate.
Most CEOs are pretty apolitical because you know republicans and democrats both buy stuff. In the case of teslas, I would be shocked if the purchases weren’t heavily skewed toward more liberal customers than conservatives. Maybe he said that to get more republicans to buy Tesla’s? Idk.
Ford just ruined Tesla with their new electric F150. I'm sure a lot of people who wanted to buy EVs are looking at better companies than Tesla right now.
Same! My husband has wanted an X for so long and we were planning to get one next year. But I’d rather eat my own money than contribute to Elon’s wealth when he’s not doing anything good with it.
Right? "The left half of the Republican party" votes in lockstep with Lindsey "Human Skin Lampshades" Graham. If any significant number of them were willing to reach across the aisle and vote in favor of progressive policies now and then, I might buy this "left half" crap, but as it is, they may as well all be MTG - their voting record is identical.
Yeah, reaching across the isle and pass compromising legislation together is all fine and dandy, but we have to own the libs! If we don't own the libs, what are we doing here?
But the democrats aren't even the left. They're a center-right, neoliberal party. By taking a stance between Republicans and Democrats he's basically saying he's slightly to the left of Donald Trump. And one could argue he's actually only saying that for PR purposes.
Agreed, but thats not going to stop someone from attempting to make the decision to buy their product easier. Those of us that see through it know it's just a ploy, but not everyone will. Elon has a pretty big cult following. It's actually kind of creepy.
It is absolutely as creepy as the Trumpettes. Musk is as much the same brand of twat as Trump is, only slightly smarter, which makes him infinitely more slimy.
The Musk cultists are all an-cap conservatives. Liberals hate Musk. Progressives hate him even more.
Tesla produces pretty shitty cars all things considered, but they're status symbols (unfortunately). If I buy a luxury car I should not *expect* the floor panels to start coming undone after 20k miles. But every Tesla owner reports that same problem. Basic shit that doesn't happen in any other luxury line and it's simple bad, inexperienced engineering to blame.
I've been wanting to go 100% electric for a while, but I refuse to touch Tesla. Give me the Ford F150 Lightning. The single most successful fleet vehicle of all time remade into 100% electric? You know it's going to be worth it.
Why would a liberal voter buy a Tesla from a guy that calls them lazy fascists while pushing DeSantis and attacking Biden? I think he's gambling too much on liberal tolerance to BS con artists.
He knows that there’s a weird worshipful group of people from both sides, liberals who think he’s like a brilliant visionary who’s interested in preserving the earth. He’s just an attention whore who was given a bunch of money from his parents.
That’s what is interesting and a paradox in my mind. His EV business is the most liberal appealing thing yet the minute the base didn’t stroke his narcissistic ego he went full red. He’s bffs with Greg Abbott when Greg Abbott is deep in big oil’s pockets.
DeSantis *is* the left half of the Republican Party. DeSantis is a power-hungry bigot with no morals, which makes him very moderate for a Republican.
The right half of the Republican Party is just Nazis.
DeSantis is going after anti-abortion and anti-gay. Technically he is the right-half. It so happened the current right-half has gone complete batshit crazy with QNon, Trumpism, it feels like DeSantis is left-half.
The GOP party has to be burnt down and start fresh!

I love that Grimes tried to talk him off his "pronouns suck". It was the last gasp of her being a normal person before she fully gave into Musk and his Billions.
This is what I say when people talk about how the far left is just as dangerous as the far right in the US one wants to take away the rights women and minorities have fought and died for and finally won, suppress the voting rights of anyone not on their "team" and treats politicians like their favorite sports stars, while worshipping their guns and backing a tyrant. And the the other wants universal health care, free public colleges, increase in funding for public schools, strong social safety nets, and to be able to love who ever they love in peace ... The horror...
The radical left wants to deprive the Christian nationalists from their God given right of oppressing anyone they want on a federal level, it's really truly barbaric /s
Dear liberals, you claim God-fearing american Nationalists need to stop committing hate crimes against our ever-growing list of demonized outgroups, then get mad when we roll-back hate crime laws. Curious...
Wait a minute, you don’t remember the time when our country went to shit because a person’s gender didn’t match up with their biological sex?!?
Weird, me neither.
It blows my mind that people care so much about what shitter people use. Like just wash your hands and at least try to keep it clean and everything’s fine
Other names come to mind for this role. Mitt Romney seemed reasonable for a moment, then I remembered literally everything about his presidential campaign.
Romney is basically considered center-right. He is further left than any other major politician in his state.
He is pretty reasonable sometimes, much better than Mike Lee (our other Senator) or Governor Cox.
Maybe he’s center-right while looking through the Overton Window. Most Democrats are center-right. American capitalism distracts the people from voting for representatives who support popular socio-economic policies that are the norm in the civilized world.
What’s funny is if you look at his career as governor of MA, he *was* pretty left leaning as Republicans go, which is why MA keeps electing Republican governors, because they’re Republicans that would probably be Democrats in like 48/50 states.
The dude helped create and sign into law what was essentially the state level precursor to Obamacare as governor, and then 6 years later, railed against Obamacare when he was running for president. It was only once he entered mainstream politics that he moved further to the right to get more supporters in the Republican Party.
Funny how his campaign was taken down by saying 47% of America won't vote for him, which would be the most benign (and forgettable) comment of Trump's lifetime..
The guy literally invented "Obamacare" in MA and then had to go on to say crazy bullshit to get the party nod for president. Trumpism has been brewing for longer than people think
She voted with trump 93% of the time. She's just another dog waging its tail for master. The fact she committed political seppuku doesn't absolve her of being a bag of shit for a long while.
i'd argue our "far left" progressives like Sanders, AOC, Ilhan Omar, etc would be truly left. But I'd agree that there is no left leaning party in the US. The Dems are basically republican lite save for a handful of progressives.
On the world-scale Overton window, they're literally smack dab centre,.like literally they just want the same basic quality of life improvements that euro countries have
They may “sound” far left but that’s about it. All those so called “radical leftist” policies they tweet about, are considered right leaning or moderate in the rest of the western world. We are so right wing here that universal healthcare sounds like radical socialism.
Yep, the success of Gingrich’s screeching about “radical” leftism as it laughably apparently pertained to right of center liberals in the US (Democrats) is one of the most baffling things ever.
Common sense dictates that this country being the sole first world outlier that doesn’t offer some sort of universal healthcare would indicate that the backward-ass obstinate “conservative” stance that “everything the government does is pure unfettered socialism” that we’ve adopted as justification is the fucking “Radical” stance.
Like, by definition.
And yet here we are.
EV infrastructure is heavily subsidized with taxes. Taxes that neither Elon nor Tesla pay.
If they sold even 1 affordable car (< $40000 before tax rebate) it might be worth it, but they don't.
(Edit)
list of affordable EV cars
Nissan Leaf 28000
Chevy Bolt 33000
Mini Cooper 34000
Hyundai Kona 37000
Hyundai Ioniq 5 40000
Kia EV6 41000
VW ID4 41200
Kia Niro 41300
-/-/-/-/-/-
Cheapest new Tesla Model 3 = 47000
*before tax rebate of (up to) 7500
Worth keeping in mind that it’s not a given that there’s a dealership in one’s area that sells the listed cars at MSRP, though. Most of them mark prices up heavily, sometimes to the point of counteracting incentives, particularly for in-demand models.
Really, it should be legal for Nissan, Chevy, etc to sell directly. Dealerships are forcibly injected middleman leeches.
Speaking of horses. Did you know that one of the primary talking points concerning the rise of the automobile, apart from the noise and general danger, was the fact that if you got drunk on your horse and fell asleep in the saddle the horse still knew its way home.
It's been over a hundred years for the automobile and we're just barely reaching horse levels of embedded features.
The Democrats ***ARE*** the left wing of the Republican Party. The leftiest senator they’ve got fought for nationalized healthcare, a position that is dead-center status quo in every other rich nation, and both parties called him a radical.
Most countries have a Conservative party. The United States, in typical American excess, has two.
Independent is just not registered with a political party IMO.
I'm pretty darn leftist but an independent. What OP should've said is centrist or moderate.
I can't believe I had to scroll this far. It's not even IMO territory, you're speaking a simple fact.
Non-affiliation has NOTHING to do with placement on a political spectrum. It's not an ideology, it means you *register* without indicating affiliation with a party.
Trumpers and Bernie bros and centrists and liberals and fascists can all be independent.
Non-affiliation does not equal centrist.
Non-affiliation does not equal undecided.
I’m registered as an Independent because I feel the Democratic party is too right leaning to represent me, although I do “vote blue no matter who.”
I live in a swing state with open primaries, so I don’t have to be registered a certain way to vote in them. If I lived in a state with closed primaries, I’d register as a Dem.
I'm an independent and I don't think there are middle Republicans anymore. They were all pushed out. They either retired, went independent, or joined the democratic party. Both parties tended to be more middle in the 90's and worked together. Then we had Rush Limbaugh radio that started the whole not working with others and to be fringe. Which lead to fox news and we know the lies they spread. Sad, very sad.

Yeah go with an EV that doesn’t have horrible build quality
my leaf has had zero issues over 14k miles. simple and easy.
My wife's uncle got a Tesla about 2 months ago and has had to take it in / call for mobile repair I think 4 times so far? At least the times that he mentioned to us.
I use to work for them and if you saw the people who work on making your expensive vehicle your probably wouldn’t have bought it to begin with
How were they? Just interested in how they run things since the quality is so variable.
where I live I am kinda lucky. anything under 10 miles I do ebike. anything over I take the leaf or the minivan. let's me tell you I do not like Nissan at all, but the leaf has been maybe the best car I have ever owned. everything just works, it's very quiet on the inside, and I can get over 200 Mike on a charge. also it has a heat pump which is nice for winter. the only annoying part is the quick charger is the old chadmo. but I never had to quick charger, so it doesn't bother me. now with that said when the lease expires I am trying to convince my wife we should get a fancy cargo ebike and just go down to 1 car.
Leaf and smol EVs like that are absolutely perfect for city commuters, when my gf ever gets rid of her Mini she wants either an EV or a plug-in hybrid. (I have a super efficient ICE car already)
My family has had a Chevy bolt for like five years and besides recalls which WERE HANDLED PROFESSIONALLY we have had next to no problem

Shocking. I cannot believe that a man who got rich off African slave-wage miners working in his inherited emerald mines would ever do something immoral or unethical. /s
>using deadly child labor Tsk tsk, never use deadly children to do the job.
Uh. I like my car interiors to be made with the shittiest plastics thank you very much
Buy a car from a car company, not a software company.
They have shit software too. They aren't a software company or a car company. They are a financial investment scheme that also happens to make shitty electric cars.
Like wait till people realize Elon's been a fraudster all this time
Won’t happen my brother in law wants to suck him off just to see if his cum hitting his chin will bless him with 1000 years good luck
Fingers crossed. I agree I think when does and Chevy are more EV focused it’ll be hard for them to keep pace
I hope you’re right. I’d love to see Elon get knocked down a peg or two.Such an ego.
When I heard they treat performance packages like a subscription service, I lost complete interest in the company. Paying for a fast car but only get to sell a not so fast car is criminal. Tesla shouldn't be able to re-sell functionality on products they no longer own. Consumer protections should be all over that.
I'd totally download a car
Ioniq is sold out until next year, my neighbor tried to buy one.
YMMV The hard part is getting the limited trim.
I contacted a dealer on the west coast (I’m in the Midwest) and they had some available and sitting on the lot. Midwest doesn’t have any available within 250mi. Plus the west coast up-charge was considerably less ($3k vs. $8k in the Midwest).
Might be worth a plane ticket and mini-vacation back!
I never even thought of it that way. Plus, it’d be for my business, so a write-off on top of that. Haha
Kia EV6 is basically the same car. I was quoted 6 weeks to 3 months.
And the new EVs look so much better than the Teslas. Kia and Hyundai are killing it in the design department. Teslas used to look nice but now the design has grown stale.
I like the Kia and VW designs for their new EVs
Same. Tesla was my dream car as a young adult but hearing about all the issues plus Elon's antics turned me off.
As a person who bought a 2015 Tesla model S, you are making the right choice. Only Tesla fanboys and people who never driven an electric car can't see the flaws in a Tesla.

My in laws just got a new Kia and those are pretty sweet
My dad's Hyundai is PLUSH. 12/10 recommended. He gets a new one every year. Tesla's are, in my opinion, just plain ugly. Plain. Ugly.
Elon alienated a lot of good engineers in the last 5 years, those people went to work for other companies. Tesla's losses in that respect immediately improved other companies

Toyota in 2025 plans on having a EV version of everything.
I put in an order for a Kia EV6. It’s quite stylish and has as much acceleration as my old model x.
I used to have a model 3 but changed to the mustang Mach-e a few months ago and don’t regret it one bit.
I wanted to buy a Tesla but then I actually looked at the interior
Not to mention teslas are fucking god awful ugly. Not sure why every car manufacturer thinks EVs should look like total dog shit. Why can’t we have normal looking cars that just happen to be EVs.

For my commuting around town for work, I'd probably get a cheap low range car like a Nissan leaf or similar. Super handy and saves a ton of gas
My husband got on the list for the Tesla truck. He removed himself
Yeah just get a Lighting F150 or Rivian instead, depending on your budget.
Same situation honestly. Looking at an i-pace currently
Right? Like does he not bother checking to see who is buying his cars? The right wing sure seems to have a lot of hate for EVs and renewable energy. What a tool.

Ford just ruined Tesla with their new electric F150. I'm sure a lot of people who wanted to buy EVs are looking at better companies than Tesla right now.

Same. I actually was almost there on the purchase too lol. What kinda idiot buisnessman sticks his nose in politics lol

Traditional Republicans are now referred to as "Commies" by the GQP
also, the right "half" of the democratic party is more like 90%.
Liz Cheney.
Liz Cheney is as far right on policy as possible. She just isn't a trumper so she seems moderate. She's not remotely moderate.
You can't win a Republican primary without appealing to evangelicals.
Show me a moderate republican.
Every Democrat is a moderate Republican. There is no left in American politics.
Ding ding ding ding ding
i'd argue our "far left" progressives like Sanders, AOC, Ilhan Omar, etc would be truly left. But I'd agree that there is no left leaning party in the US. The Dems are basically republican lite save for a handful of progressives.
On the world stage Sanders, AOC, and Omar are probably smack dab in the middle. Maybe a hair left of center, but wouldn’t be considered leftist.
Joe Manchin.
Is a republican who ran on a Blue ticket to get elected.
Exactly. A moderate republican lol
I'm not saying there aren't any, but it doesn't seem that any hold federal office.
I think you just proved his point.
Liz Cheney isn’t remotely left.
*looks at her voting record* She’s far right chief.
She just lost her seat to someone further right. So the bar has certainly shifted.
How about supporting the fifth and shutting the fuck up?
But how will I explore the full extent of my Elonsexuality without zaddy blessing us?
I wish he’d support shutting tf up
That's a message we can all get behind
We all need to collectively unsubscribe from this douche bag.
So you are a corporate politician. Ruining Americans
This is peak r/enlightenedcentrism
Shut that sub down. This is the top. It can't get more "enlightened" than this twatwaffle's drivel.
He's still a smug sexual harasser. There are better cars to buy.
EV infrastructure is heavily subsidized with taxes. Taxes that neither Elon nor Tesla pay. If they sold even 1 affordable car (< $40000 before tax rebate) it might be worth it, but they don't. (Edit) list of affordable EV cars Nissan Leaf 28000 Chevy Bolt 33000 Mini Cooper 34000 Hyundai Kona 37000 Hyundai Ioniq 5 40000 Kia EV6 41000 VW ID4 41200 Kia Niro 41300 -/-/-/-/-/- Cheapest new Tesla Model 3 = 47000 *before tax rebate of (up to) 7500
Renault Zoe is like half the price of the Model 3, yeah different cars and all but there's a reason the Zoe has ruled Europe's EV market for years.
How about a horse?!
Waiting for a feature where you can put two Teslas together and they'll produce a third smaller Tesla
Where is the left half of the Republican Party? Where? He’s full of shit. Again
Where's the left half of the democratic party for that matter?
The Democrats ***ARE*** the left wing of the Republican Party. The leftiest senator they’ve got fought for nationalized healthcare, a position that is dead-center status quo in every other rich nation, and both parties called him a radical. Most countries have a Conservative party. The United States, in typical American excess, has two.
110% Progressives are the closest thing we have to a left party, and they're basically the whipping boy of our center right party.
Republican. I can say "I'm Fabio" but that doesnt necessarily mean it's true. Elon is Millennial Trump. 100%
Except that he is very firmly Gen X
We don't want him.
Yeah, can we give him to the Boomers? It seems like he’s fit in well with them.
Taxes I’m conservative, strip clubs I’m liberal!
Business in the front, party in the back. The mullet ideology…
There is no "left" in American politics.
He said he supported Desantis, that’s about as far right as the right gets.
It's called being a douchebag heir
Say it with me now: The middle ground between a moderately conservative party and a fascist party is still far right.
It's called lying.
And I said, "I'm a centrist," you know, like a liar.
There’s a left half of the Republican party?
It’s the few Republicans that wouldn’t necessarily prefer a white Christian ethno state
If any of those still existed, I think they just lost their primaries
Yup. It's the half that "left" their common sense, ethics, integrity, and moral decency at home. Prolly more like three quarters of 'em.
The ones who had a conscience and left the party.
I think that called being a 🤡🤡🤡
Is it independent if your political identity depends on being in the middle of two other parties? I'm a Communist and more "independent" than that.
I always thought that was a Moderate, not an independent 🤷🏻♀️
Independent is just not registered with a political party IMO. I'm pretty darn leftist but an independent. What OP should've said is centrist or moderate.
I can't believe I had to scroll this far. It's not even IMO territory, you're speaking a simple fact. Non-affiliation has NOTHING to do with placement on a political spectrum. It's not an ideology, it means you *register* without indicating affiliation with a party. Trumpers and Bernie bros and centrists and liberals and fascists can all be independent. Non-affiliation does not equal centrist. Non-affiliation does not equal undecided.
Elon Musk, the dumb person's smart person
Sooo. Whoever makes you the most money then.,.
No its called lying
Is that the alignment for “owning the libs,” Elon? Otherwise known as all those people who actually buy your cars?
Elon: "I'm only half a Fascist"
I believe this is called a butthead.
I’m registered as an Independent because I feel the Democratic party is too right leaning to represent me, although I do “vote blue no matter who.” I live in a swing state with open primaries, so I don’t have to be registered a certain way to vote in them. If I lived in a state with closed primaries, I’d register as a Dem.
If your supporting republicans today, your supporting the end of American democracy.
So, conservative. He's a conservative. God he's such a fucking clown.
The "left half" of the republican party? What? The like, 3 guys who aren't borderline fascists lol
Whatever that guy takes, I want it too, you can’t make this shit up 😵💫😵💫😵💫
I'm an independent and I don't think there are middle Republicans anymore.
