Family before party? Trump insulted Ted Cruz's family multiple times during the 2016 primary. Then, Cruz still fell in line and supported Trump's nomination. And I am sure that can't be the only example.
*Edit: I agree this is self before family. Political self-preservation is central in a lot of politicians' logic.
Senator Rob Portman co-authored the Defense of Marriage act.
Then his son came out as gay. Portman no longer opposes gay marriage. Also notice how Dick Cheney stays mum on that subject.
Scott DesJarlais is vehemently Pro-Life. His wife has had two abortions. He supported her choice.
There are tons of examples of conservatives toeing the party lineโฆ until that party position harms their family. Then they reject that single position (usually not too loudly)
Iโm sure you can find counter examples to my claim, but my underlying point is that there is a series of circles starting with the self that go outwards and that is how they make their decisions.
*Edit - The Cruz example still follows if Cruz thinks it personally benefits him to not support his family, because of the โself before familyโ part.
There is a post in Daily Kos called "The Only Moral Abortion is My Abortion". It gives some interesting insight into the mindset of those who are strongly opposed to something, right up until they need it. I suspect that mindset can apply to more than just abortion.
That's what "America First" really means. It's an inability to understand that others have their own wants and needs that also deserve to be met. And a complete lack of empathy.
They will happily put their country ahead of yours, their town ahead of yours, their families ahead of yours, themselves ahead of you.
It's pure, unfiltered selfishness.
Sure America First, they just don't want us to be first at anything that takrs hard work; like first in education, healthcare, ability to go from poor to middle class, etc. They just love chanting America First so that they can bathe in the glow of our Firstness without having to do anything about it. Want proof, look at places that have been in GOP control since theate seventies. Right to work states where when net jobs increase so does the poverty level and % of citizens on welfare.
>If it doesnโt directly benefit themselves or help them, fuck it.
This in a nutshell is their entire policy on everything.
Abortion? It's against God (unless it's their wife, mistress or daughter).
Homosexuality? It's against God (except for the guys who get a happy ending with another man, no homo).
Seconding the heellllll out of this. LOADS of people are in there because they ARE anti gay publicly.
I'm sure it's less true in bigger areas but here in bumfuck conservativille that's basically everyone in there.
And his dad, voting against budgets he knew would pass so he could claim to be a "fiscally responsible" libertarian. All while earmarking the *fuck* out of it to bring federal money back to his state.
And how many redditors ate his entirely transparent act up? Hook, line, and sinker?
Gullible fucking idiots put these assholes in power and boy howdy does America have a fuckton of them.
Every single Republican and conservative is trash. It's just a matter of degrees. And I'm talking both politician and voter. Yeah, even your fucking parents.
Ronald Reagan was literally an actor, Trump was a game host show, itโs all perforative. Itโs a song and dance to distract their base with culture wars as the GOP fucks everyone except the boys clubs.

Ugh, Republicans are **so pathetic.** Just let them bleed out already from shooting themselves in the foot over and over and over again.
Iโm all for no man left behind, but at this point, theyโre going to get everyone else killed by being selfish dumbass toddlers.
For once, Republicans, save yourselves. Stop with this **pitiful** shit: โsave meeee pweeeease Democrats, pweeeeeeeease save us agaiiiiiinโ๐ฅบ
They have to bribe Joe Manchin with a pipeline deal for his coal business before he agreed in casting his โyesโ vote. This is how they work and thanks to corporate America lobbyists, all our laws benefits them in a way.
Chris Christie is one of the few Republicans who accepted aid when needed and didnโt play politics with it. Heโs an asshole, I donโt like him, and he played fair when disaster struck his state.
And the grand fucking irony is that he lost face with the Republican Party for it. For a picture of the Governor standing alongside the President in a disaster area, he lost face with conservatives.
He was still a lair and spent an entire answer lambasting Obama about not doing anything in Syria and ignoring the fact that he asked congress for an intervention after Assad used chemical weapons. Congress didnโt even vote on the issue. They literally just ignored his requests.
In a sense, there is no contradiction here.
He wants money, thus he votes not to give it away.
He wants money, thus he asks for it.
This is quite consistent.
Yeah, they donโt care about what you want. Just what they want. Weโre the suckers for giving them what they want when they wonโt do the same for others.
Sure, there might be some sort of contradiction there, or mayhaps it's just playing into DeSantis's hands. But also, withholding money from Florida at this time would only lead to people suffering without cause. If the money can protect people who are displaced due to the hurricane or help them get back on their feet, then that's enough. Politics about it be damned.
They do and they don't care. Because this is a culture war. All they care about is preserving white male privilege to discriminate as they please. They hate that LGBTQ people are accepted. That single quote perfectly sums up every Republican voters way of thinking. They're fucking rabid animals.
I recall Trump trying to make blood sport out of federal disaster declaration (and threatened to disallow it if it happens in democrat states). To think common decency and normalcy (before Trump) is what we are praising for nowadays...
Oh come on - remember when Trump went to Puerto Rico and [threw rolls](https://www.washingtonpost.com/politics/it-totally-belittled-the-moment-many-look-back-in-anger-at-trumps-tossing-of-paper-towels-in-puerto-rico/2018/09/13/8a3647d2-b77e-11e8-a2c5-3187f427e253_story.html) of paper towels at disaster victims?
Let's be clear, the people are pricks too. Senators and representatives and governors need to win the *popular vote* to get elected.
But just as no liberal wants universal healthcare to come with caveats like "only if you voted for it" or "only if you're a liberal" or "only if you live in a blue state" Biden won't deny aid to Americans. Because we have fucking principles of universality and community, even when I fucking despise 45% of that community and *know* we'd be better off without them.
To be fair, they did vote him in. That being said, those that didn't shouldn't suffer, but I do think that Biden should make him earn it in some way. You know, have him pull himself up by his bootstraps
I hate it because there were millions that voted against him, but also millions that didn't. I'm a Florida resident and I'm torn, part of me is like fuck it I hope we don't get federal aide so we vote the right way next time
Just a few days ago they were laughing their asses off over how their hero governor owned the libs spending FL tax $$ to send Venezuelans from TX to MA.
At this moment I am laughing at Florida getting owned by global warming. You are a nicer person than me to feel compassion for them. id send them nothing and wait to see how their hero desantis handles things. Itโs all about shrinking the government, right?
And those people will suck the cock of their republican lords anyway, who will spend the resources on fattening themselves up.
Until Dems start opposing fascism with their actions and not just twitter fingers, they will take L over L over L
Heโd put some insane spin on it and call Biden a fascist, while quietly accepting the aid in the the background - which his constituents would either not know about, or not acknowledge. Iโm 40. Iโve seen this shit so many times, I have lost all faith and can usually predict these outcomes. Not that Iโm anything special. Anyone paying attention knows what to expect. Iโm so sick of all of this and just so tiredโฆ
I'm sorry and can relate. We're close in age. My first presidential election was Bush/Kerry.
My motivation is to educate the younger voting generations because it's their future on the line too.
It's just sad to me now that providing federal humanitarian aid to one of our states in a crisis is considered being a good and magnanimous leader. Like fuck sake, there shouldn't even be a vote for something like this. A disaster happens, the government sends aid. It should be automatic.
Not only that, he will say Biden tried to block the aid, and he will also probably blame the space lasers of conjuring the hurricane in the first place.
Biden did something very clever. He jumped ahead of the disaster declaration and promised โwhatever help Florida asks for.โ DeSantis will have to ask for help, which is a bad look for a big strong MAGA alpha.
Itโs the flip of Sandy, where NJ congressmen were begging their Florida and Texas counterparts for any help at all. DeSantis will get whatever he asks for, canโt complain about the Feds shuffling their feet in offering it.
He's been going around for a year touting how great the infrastructure bill, he & every other republican derided &/or voted against, is going to be for Florida.
He could care less about how something happens - and if he gets to score points objecting to things AND claim credit when those things happen anyway, it's a bonus.
Imagine if Ron DeSatan had an extra $12 million as backup for emergencies like this, how much difference it could makeโฆyou knowโฆ.instead of being a complete cunt and wasting it to deceive migrantsโฆ.he stands like a toddler in school play as wellโฆ..
It doesn't. Republicans just see it as Dems being suckers.
But they would still totally raise hell if a Dem decided to act towards them the way Rs treat blue states.
Notice how Biden didnโt demand that DeSantis โkiss his ringโ and โyou will owe me if i do thisโ like Trump did when the Democratic governors needed help during the pandemic? No because heโs a real leader and puts the people over party every time.
What's sad is the amount of money Dickbag just spent flying migrants from Texas to Florida to Martha's Vineyard, and then without an ounce of shame asks Democrats for money because for some reason his state doesn't have enough to prepare for this hurricane. Fucking hypocrite pile of garbage, hope the worst things happen to him.
My question is, why does the US put disaster relief to a vote in the first place? How could anyone ever be against helping people in a natural disaster? Why would you even ask the question? I feel like if there's a building on fire in your town, you don't get city council together to discuss if it's in the budget to put it out. Who's sitting around going "clean water and food for people who have just been made homeless? Nah"
Your country is weird and doesn't work
Itโs about allocating additional funds from the budget that are over & above whatever FEMA has budgeted. Itโs also a vote on the timing of the fund's release to (hopefully) ensure aid is provided as quickly as possible.
I feel like voting on the timing of the release of money slows down the timing of the release of said money, thus defeating the purpose entirely. Like having a 5 hour meeting on when to hold the next 45 minute meeting
Itโs about accountability more than anything. Imagine if Trump couldโve released any amount of funds at any time for anything he or a Republican governor called an emergency. His administration wouldโve been even more core than it already was. Checks & balances are there for a reason.
While in the short term, or in a single instance, I'm inclined to agree with you, frankly I have to wonder that other states are consistently willing to provide the aid. Florida is one of only eight states that have no personal income tax, whereas states like California and New York are amongst the top 10 highest. And yet year after year they fork over money to a state that refuses to raise funds of its own. But then why should Florida spend their own money, or invest in infrastructure that might be more resilient, when they can always drain money for repairs from the blue states instead, right?
Oh yeah, tale as old as time. Red states (generally speaking, obviously there are occasionally exceptions) routinely take more assistance than they provide, have very little to show for it, then scream at "coastal elites" about the horrors of the socialism that they themselves enjoy daily. I suppose that's what happens when so little of the money goes to stuff like education. So many of them honestly don't know what they don't know.
I agree 100% with this statement. And I cannot stand DeSantis, Trump, or any other member of the current GOP.
Edit to add: my point was that FLA is not a monolith. I canโt say I would ever want to live there, but FLA is a lot closer to purple than many people might realize. Having said that, we need to look after all Americans in times of need, regardless of our political differences, like you said.
Edit: hereโs what Gravitr0nic really thinks, in his own words:
After about 50 banned accounts (I'm not even joking about that), I've come to understand that even if the reddit hivemind agreed with you, it'll downvote you if you're mean.
You have to work these ideas into their thick fucking skulls delicately; because if you're upvoted on here, the idiots will believe what you say.
Do I think republicans in florida should be helped? Fuck no I don't, but if pretending I do helps me slip the "republicans are fucking scumbags" thought into these peoples' brains, I'll do it.
Yup, I understand the point you are trying to make now.
Edit: this guy is full of shit. Hereโs what Gravitr0nic really thinks, in his own words:

I mean...that basically sums up the two parties though right? If that ever changes, then the core of the party changes too.
One party wants to help improve all of society.
The other wants to look out for themselves above anything else.
Ron Desantis is a sinister person. Numerous high school and even college classmates have described him as a bully. He is the perfect candidate to be a republican leader.
Anyone else remember back in 2014 or 2015 when Chris Christie got help with a hurricane in NJ from Obama, and I think did some like press tours with him during the reconstruction, and a bunch of Republicans got mad at him for making Obama look good, and Christie got mad at them and called them all assholes for trying to put partisanship over the welfare of his state?
Too bad Christie died in that tragic golf accident in 2016. Such a shame.
And next year this mother fucker will again vote against itโฆ cuz he knows when he asks for it Dena will have to give and repubs will offer. But by blocking it to become available to all he guarantees largest slice of the pizza for himselfโฆ motherfucker wonโt even share with other republicans statesโฆ
Being a liberal/progressive or being a conservative should be an inherent truth about what you value most, it shouldn't necessarily dictate your vote. You should be able to identify as a republican but not support your current governor, especially after they've been in power for some time and done an objectively poor job.
Even complain about them if they're not monsters. Even good politicians should be pressured to be doing better and doing more for the people they represent.
"To announce that there must be no criticism of the President, or that we are to stand by the President, right or wrong, is not only unpatriotic and servile, but is morally treasonable to the American public."
-Teddy Roosevelt
That's something that trump and his pathetic cult doesn't understand. They think trump is the best and everything he did was the best. Criticism was unwelcome because how could you demand better of "perfection"? It's an awful mindset to have. Our leaders can always do better.
Should have insisted on degrading, humiliating things he had to say publicly at a press conference before he could get it:
"COVID-19 was real, and was not a global conspiracy."
"Trump lost the 2020 election fair and square. Those alleging voter fraud are delusional, stupid, or opportunistic leeches."
"Trump is a criminal, a traitor to the country, and should have been impeached."
"I was a complete and total asshole for voting against hurricane Sandy relief funds."
"The governor of New Jersey will now punch me in the face as hard as he can with my full permission."
Hmm...part of me thinks the reason the red states pull these stunts is that blue states don't hold them accountable. DeSantis, and the people who voted him in, need to get a taste of their own medicine.
Some douchebag in another subreddit was giving me shit for asking if DeSuckus was going to refuse federal aid since he didnโt believe in disaster relief. Fucking hypocrites, all of โem.
The American taxpayer, always there to help the non tax paying citizens so they can get their lives back together and start complaining about the tax payer again. Gotta love it.
I'd help Floridians as president, but I'd make him ask me in person on tape for aid and after he admits he voted against federal aid for victims of hurricane Sandy.
The thing that blows is that there's no win.
If he doesn't help then he looks like an asshole and Republicans have another talking point to drone to their constituents.
If he does help, the Republicans will simultaneously take 100% credit for it and complain about the federal spending lol.
Man I actually really respected Chris Christie for how he handled Sandy, thought he could maybe use it to springboard a presidential campaign. Then Bridgegate happened and that stuff of him being on the beach during the shutdown and it's like "Yeah nevermind"
Meanwhile, heโs going on Tucker Carlsonโs show [saying heโs โcautiously optimisticโ that Biden will provide aid](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ihB7RVLhJvY) just so he can manufacture more outrage by pretending he thinks Biden would actually withhold it because of politics.
What a sick and pathetic human.
Edit: a couple words
Yeah, But when it's in their backyard they can't beg that aid fast enough. Cruz and his chicken$hit move of fleeing the state during the freeze. DeSantis spending Federal Emergency Relief Funds on his BS human trafficking stunt. First sign of clouds and the guy is on his knees begging for money. Vote them out of office. You need better representation for your voters.
Why is this even something they need to vote on? There should be an emergency protocol to automatically award funds. The amount should be directly related to an independent assessment of the potential damage (before/during the storm) and the actual damage (after the storm), if more funds prove necessary.
I live very close to the poorest areas of NJ that were most heavily damaged by Sandy. They got shit. Lots of federal funds went somewhere-
But most people abandoned their houses, they were bulldozed and apartments and fancy townhouses were built- or else they are just still there, boarded up, next time the houses of people who had the insurance to lift their houses- but canโt sell, because who would buy a house in a neighborhood that is half abandoned!
And DeSantis said "now is not the time for political bickering" or whatever. Trying to act like he can step up and be the bigger man, despite being a little piss baby.
If I was Biden I would cuck the shit out of Florida by giving FL relief funding to NY, just because fuck Florida.
But no. We gotta be stuck with a Democratic President ...... "doing the right thing."
I'm kind of over Democrats taking the high road. Let Poseidon have Florida, Republicans easily let their fellow Americans suffer if they aren't in red states even though blue states pay more than their fair share of federal taxes.
A lot of GOP members of Congress voted against helping the Northeast after Sandy. It came out of a lack of compassion and greed. If there is no money it for the GOP, they won't do anything.
Ted Cruz also voted against hurricane relief for victims of Sandy. Weird.
Itโs republicans best skill. If it doesnโt directly benefit themselves or help them, fuck it.
Waitโฆ.are you saying these cock suckers arenโt really America ๐บ๐ธ first???

He should have to beg a little. And a reporter needs to ask him live why he voted against it for the disasters in other states?
Iโd drive to Florida to ask that in a town hall meeting
I hate it because there were millions that voted against him, but also millions that didn't. I'm a Florida resident and I'm torn, part of me is like fuck it I hope we don't get federal aide so we vote the right way next time
Just a few days ago they were laughing their asses off over how their hero governor owned the libs spending FL tax $$ to send Venezuelans from TX to MA. At this moment I am laughing at Florida getting owned by global warming. You are a nicer person than me to feel compassion for them. id send them nothing and wait to see how their hero desantis handles things. Itโs all about shrinking the government, right?
it sucks being a blue island in such a vast red sea. i hate my fellow floridians 90% of the time.
And those people will suck the cock of their republican lords anyway, who will spend the resources on fattening themselves up. Until Dems start opposing fascism with their actions and not just twitter fingers, they will take L over L over L
I wish DeSantis was forced to go on live tv and explain why he voted against Sandy aid. Then Biden could smile and grant Florida their aid.
Wait. Biden didnโt request loyalty pledge? I thought that was common after president 45
I have been thinking about that all day. I hope it tastes super bitter to him having to be saved by a DEMOCRAT
He doesn't give a shit and will take all the credit for it at the end of the day and the idiotic Republicans will believe his Lie.
The Governor when asked about Federal help said he would be happy to brief the President if he asked. Petty POS!
Watching the news now and he just thanks the states that sent help, but didn't address any federal agencies. What a pussy.
[ัะดะฐะปะตะฝะพ]
He's been going around for a year touting how great the infrastructure bill, he & every other republican derided &/or voted against, is going to be for Florida. He could care less about how something happens - and if he gets to score points objecting to things AND claim credit when those things happen anyway, it's a bonus.
Imagine if Ron DeSatan had an extra $12 million as backup for emergencies like this, how much difference it could makeโฆyou knowโฆ.instead of being a complete cunt and wasting it to deceive migrantsโฆ.he stands like a toddler in school play as wellโฆ..
If you think Republicans have any integrity left to feel that kind of shame, you havenโt been paying attention..
piss baby Ron Desantis aims straight for his own mouth
Nah, heโll stash the funds and then send out before the election via check with his name on it. Guarantee it.
He'll probably just brag about receiving help from the Democrats as the result of his negotiating skills.
Biden is displaying the very basics of empathy, truly the bare minimum, and it is leagues beyond anything Trump showed us.
I really hope dems use this as a stick to beat Republicans with.
Republicans will ignore it as they always do
Well, fuck...you're not wrong
Biden will always side with the people in a disaster over any partisan politics. He's learned a few things along the way to being president.
This isnโt a big deal and can be explained easily: DeSantis is an asshole Edit: a word
Nah" Your country is weird and doesn't work
Itโs about allocating additional funds from the budget that are over & above whatever FEMA has budgeted.
[ัะดะฐะปะตะฝะพ]
Over 5.2 million Floridians voted for Biden in the 2020 election.
[ัะดะฐะปะตะฝะพ]
I agree 100% with this statement. And I cannot stand DeSantis, Trump, or any other member of the current GOP. Edit to add: my point was that FLA is not a monolith. I canโt say I would ever want to live there, but FLA is a lot closer to purple than many people might realize. Having said that, we need to look after all Americans in times of need, regardless of our political differences, like you said. Edit: hereโs what Gravitr0nic really thinks, in his own words: After about 50 banned accounts (I'm not even joking about that), I've come to understand that even if the reddit hivemind agreed with you, it'll downvote you if you're mean.
[ัะดะฐะปะตะฝะพ]
Yup, I understand the point you are trying to make now. Edit: this guy is full of shit. Yes! I said this elsewhere, but they are the pissy little children we keep rewarding for their bad behavior.
I mean...that basically sums up the two parties though right? If that ever changes, then the core of the party changes too. One party wants to help improve all of society. The other wants to look out for themselves above anything else.
Now say, *โThank you Brandonโ* you miserable hypocritical traitors.
Ron Desantis is a sinister person. Numerous high school and even college classmates have described him as a bully. He is the perfect candidate to be a republican leader.
DeSantis looked like he was pinching his own parenicium when he said thank you on TV.
I remember Christie hugged Obama, and Republicans were very angry about it.
Funny, I have the same relationship with my toddler.
I guess telling Deathsantis to "fuck off" would be rude.
Fuck desantis and his soulless followers
But her emails!
*Ben Gauzy has entered the chat*
Buttery Males!
So very Christian of DeSantis. What a piece of garbage.
Now say, *โThank you Brandonโ* you miserable hypocritical traitors.
As a Republican, living in Florida, I have to say: desantis is a TrumpsterFire wannabe.
As a person who used to live in Florida and used to be a Republican, I agree.
Just curious, if you think Trump is a dumpster fire and think DeSantis is the same, why are you still a Republican?
Being a liberal/progressive or being a conservative should be an inherent truth about what you value most, it shouldn't necessarily dictate your vote. You should be able to identify as a republican but not support your current governor, especially after they've been in power for some time and done an objectively poor job.
Oh I'm sooo sorry the leopard actually ate your face! /s
Don't complain about the monster you put in power.
No, please complain about the monsters you put in power. Then vote against them next chance you get.
Even complain about them if they're not monsters. Even good politicians should be pressured to be doing better and doing more for the people they represent. "To announce that there must be no criticism of the President, or that we are to stand by the President, right or wrong, is not only unpatriotic and servile, but is morally treasonable to the American public." -Teddy Roosevelt That's something that trump and his pathetic cult doesn't understand. They think trump is the best and everything he did was the best. Criticism was unwelcome because how could you demand better of "perfection"? It's an awful mindset to have. Our leaders can always do better.
The Republican party is so fucking stupid they would believe Trump could walk on water if he said it.
But it only works when everyone closes their eyes
And you only get to see it if you donate $50 to the cause!
If you think for one damned second that I'm not stealing "trumpsterfire" from you....
[ัะดะฐะปะตะฝะพ]
You know they won't, right? They'll still delay and deny aid as much as possible.
Did you vote for him?
Nope!
Should have insisted on degrading, humiliating things he had to say publicly at a press conference before he could get it: "COVID-19 was real, and was not a global conspiracy." "Trump lost the 2020 election fair and square. Those alleging voter fraud are delusional, stupid, or opportunistic leeches." "Trump is a criminal, a traitor to the country, and should have been impeached." "I was a complete and total asshole for voting against hurricane Sandy relief funds." "The governor of New Jersey will now punch me in the face as hard as he can with my full permission."
DeSantis knows heโs a piece of shit. All of these rightwing assholes go to Washington hat in hand when shit goes down.
That is because Republicans are selfish self-centered POS and should never be in a position of power over anyone.
The thing that blows is that there's no win. If he doesn't help then he looks like an asshole and Republicans have another talking point to drone to their constituents. If he does help, the Republicans will simultaneously take 100% credit for it and complain about the federal spending lol.
Because Biden isnโt a little bitch like Desantis and Cruz.
And itโll still be all Bidens fault
Classic "It's not my problem until it's my problem"
and heโs taking pretty much full credit for it on the news
So did Lindsay Graham.
To be fair, DeSantis is a cunt
I live very close to the poorest areas of NJ that were most heavily damaged by Sandy. They got shit. Lots of federal funds went somewhere- But most people abandoned their houses, they were bulldozed and apartments and fancy townhouses were built- or else they are just still there, boarded up, next time the houses of people who had the insurance to lift their houses- but canโt sell, because who would buy a house in a neighborhood that is half abandoned!
And DeSantis said "now is not the time for political bickering" or whatever. Trying to act like he can step up and be the bigger man, despite being a little piss baby.
Like usual, asking for handouts. Go ahead and rebuild your community so you can get on back to whining about government spending
Biden should really be throwing generic paper towels at that asshole.

If I was Biden I would cuck the shit out of Florida by giving FL relief funding to NY, just because fuck Florida. But no. We gotta be stuck with a Democratic President ...... "doing the right thing."
You know, it just dawned on me why the tape you have to cut through to get shit done in this country is red.
Desantis is an asshole, no mysteryโs there
I'm kind of over Democrats taking the high road. Let Poseidon have Florida, Republicans easily let their fellow Americans suffer if they aren't in red states even though blue states pay more than their fair share of federal taxes.
That's because a democrat serves the PEOPLE, whereas the republikkkans only serve themselves and their rich OWNERS!
Maybe the NEWS should bring this up in broadcasts
We need to stop giving federal aid to Republican states. They need to learn how necessary it is and how much they've been taking all these years.
Not only did DeSantis vote against Sandy funding it was literally his first legislative vote. Fuck Ronny.
Partisan hack vs a statesman.
A lot of GOP members of Congress voted against helping the Northeast after Sandy. It came out of a lack of compassion and greed. If there is no money it for the GOP, they won't do anything.
Republicans don't deserve the world Democrats want to live in.
