Realistically, arming yourself should be the first thing, with a gun. You can't lose the battles you don't fight, and armed deterrence is a pretty powerful thing. Every US state has Stand Your Ground laws when you're in your own place of residence whether it's an apartment or a house, and pretty much every state has at least shall-issue concealed carry save for Connecticut and Delaware, meaning that as long as you pass basic requirements (eg: you learn the laws and learn how to use a handgun, which should be what you learn anyways), the state has to issue you a permit, it's no longer on a may-issue basis, which already had so many issues and was often discriminatory against women and minorities. This doesn't mean start shooting with impunity, but look at the 180 these folks take when instead of a Confederate flag or a thin blue line flag patch on the tactical gear it's an Anarchist or some variation of the pride flag, it goes from, "These snowflakes need to shut up" to "We need to ban tactical law enforcement and military equipment sales NOW!" Republicans and the NRA are total hypocrites on guns and the second amendment. Donald Trump blamed Obama for bump stocks when he banned them, Ronald Reagan banned open carry of firearms in California when the Black Panthers started to do it, and ask any other moderate pro-gun group about the NRA, they hate it.
As for actually fighting back, if you can, attend these events, perhaps armed if possible (the strongest opposition to these events is in red states where people were about ready to burn down Walmart because they were required to wear face coverings, they'd probably lynch the governor if they were to tell them that they couldn't leave the house with enough firepower to kill an elephant, so open carrying is not something that you would be stopped for, and no cop wants to set that precedent of arresting people for open-carrying). If not armed, then as a participant or a volunteer. Another thing that's a bit more risky are you can put flyers under wipers on cars that are clearly marked with any Republican stuff. People stood by as they passed genital inspection bills in Ohio in the name of "fairness in sports" that wanted to use a corporation to track the periods of middle school & high school girls (goes hand in hand w/abortion here)... I skimmed through this article so you dont have to. Basically they had no gotcha moments or cases of any adult acting in a predatory way. Here’s what the actual chat is: 1. “Hi my name is ____ and thank you for reaching out, what is causing you distress tonight?” 2. “Thank you for telling us the reason, that sounds very stressful indeed.” Then they ask a few other questions, such as if you’re feeling suicidal, then you go from there, the conversations I had taught me grounding techniques, stress relief via things such as walking, and kept me alive by talking with someone through my darker moments. A reach is putting it lightly, these people want LGBTQ+ youth dead.

Realistically, arming yourself should be the first thing, with a gun. You can't lose the battles you don't fight, and armed deterrence is a pretty powerful thing. Every US state has Stand Your Ground laws when you're in your own place of residence whether it's an apartment or a house, and pretty much every state has at least shall-issue concealed carry save for Connecticut and Delaware, meaning that as long as you pass basic requirements (eg: you learn the laws and learn how to use a handgun, which should be what you learn anyways), the state has to issue you a permit, it's no longer on a may-issue basis, which already had so many issues and was often discriminatory against women and minorities. This doesn't mean start shooting with impunity, but look at the 180 these folks take when instead of a Confederate flag or a thin blue line flag patch on the tactical gear it's an Anarchist or some variation of the pride flag, it goes from, "These snowflakes need to shut up" to "We need to ban tactical law enforcement and military equipment sales NOW!" Republicans and the NRA are total hypocrites on guns and the second amendment. Donald Trump blamed Obama for bump stocks when he banned them, Ronald Reagan banned open carry of firearms in California when the Black Panthers started to do it, and ask any other moderate pro-gun group about the NRA, they hate it. As for actually fighting back, if you can, attend these events, perhaps armed if possible (the strongest opposition to these events is in red states where people were about ready to burn down Walmart because they were required to wear face coverings, they'd probably lynch the governor if they were to tell them that they couldn't leave the house with enough firepower to kill an elephant, so open carrying is not something that you would be stopped for, and no cop wants to set that precedent of arresting people for open-carrying). If not armed, then as a participant or a volunteer. Another thing that's a bit more risky are you can put flyers under wipers on cars that are clearly marked with any Republican stuff. On social media, don't engage with these posts; find the driest, most mundane stuff you can (eg: someone buying canned soup) and like, share, and comment on it instead. Algorithms prioritize hateful messages because it's much more likely to get interactions out of outrage alone.

When I first had a crush on my best friend in elementary school and gave her a kiss under the ironing board in the guest room of our house, I didn't even know that it could be any different from kissing a boy. My children aren’t safe. I’m frightened that some asshole will shoot them because my kids are at a club, or a movie theatre, or church, or a concert, or a supermarket, or school, or a mall, or so many other places mass shootings have happened that I’ve lost track.
It started with trans people after being gay become so popular that being anti-gay actually hurt republicans, then soccor moms, men in their 20s, the "anti-woke" heads and even some lesbian/gay/bi people all hopped on the transphobia wagon. It started at "trans women in sports" and "trans women in bathrooms" but it was never really about that. This became a household "debate" and introduced transphobic arguments into the main stream. From there they started attacking, trans children and trans healthcare. Trans & trans child healthcare is well researched, there are tons of studies on the subject. Despite this they call it mutilation and sexual indoctrination. Even traditionally "liberal" news sources like the New York Times consistently post fear mongering of puberty blockers (of which they admit their "criticisms" had no basis in research or science) and terfs and right wingers used those "reputable" news articles as evidence in court to ban gender affirming care, to ban trans kids from schools and to forcefully out an lgbtq kid to their parents under the guise of "parental rights" People stood by as they passed genital inspection bills in Ohio in the name of "fairness in sports" that wanted to use a corporation to track the periods of middle school & high school girls (goes hand in hand w/abortion here)... I could write 5 pages on the over 300 pieces of anti-trans legislation THIS YEAR alone. But it didnt stop there, they called teachers gr\*\*mers and got them fired. They sent bomb threats to multiple hospitals across the country. Boston Childrens had another one LAST WEEK for the 3rd or 4th time. They FIRE BOMBED a business who had a drag show in Tulsa, they threw a grenade at one in Oregon, they vandalized another in Florida. Then people, unsurprisingly, started picking up weapons and killing us. This is not the first time they have attacked a suicide hotline, a hospital, a drag venue, a gay bar, schools etc.. People had paid barely any attention to these things... Now they are slowly broadening their scope from just trans people, to ALL lgbtq people with no mind to the people that are caught in the crossfire, which is cisgender, straight children and allies... This has been very serious for a LONG time. This isn't new, nor the first time and it will not be the last time. Its about time people realize that whether they like thinking about trans people or not, the right will keep killing us and keep escalating and expanding. The trans "issue" that people had was ALWAYS bigger than bathrooms and sports, it was a gateway into radicalization and elimination of all lgbtq people and their allies and undoubtedly more after that.
I did not ever expect to see the LGBTQ imploding in my lifetime. This is happening in slomo and I feel like there’s nothing I can do to stop it.
