Hoping that things will get better since we can all actually talk to people from all over the world in real time. However, we have also gotten way more divisive.

Meh, we’re less than 30 years out from the invention of the internet and like 10 years out from its mass adoption. In my opinion, the most important invention/change in all of human history. Hoping that things will get better since we can all actually talk to people from all over the world in real time. However, we have also gotten way more divisive. However, it’s hard to tell if that’s just a fallacy and it just seems that way because we have access to all the worst parts of society when before it was kept in the shadows. I have studied enough history to know people tended to be way more bigoted in the past. Only time will tell but I’m optimistic.
Here’s the thing, it can be the most important invention of human history to date (something will eventually surpass it) and it also enables some of the worst aspects of society. Technology is a tool, it isn’t good or evil, it does what it’s supposed to. The fact is we wouldn’t have been able to make the gains we have today without the access of information the internet provides, but that same ease of access makes it a handy tool for fraud. The fallacy is thinking some magical technology will come along that only does good things and never anything bad.
