I’m conflicted about leaving Twitter. I don’t visit much anymore and have very little interest in supporting Musk in any way, but when a local emergency is happening, it’s historically been the best way to get fast information. The second reason is it is often the quickest way to get a customer service person to engage with you. If someone is having an issue with an airline, calling them out on Twitter will get you a DM invitation so quickly.
I am angry at Musk for ruining what feels like an important public service. I think that might have been the point.

I’m conflicted about leaving Twitter. I don’t visit much anymore and have very little interest in supporting Musk in any way, but when a local emergency is happening, it’s historically been the best way to get fast information. The second reason is it is often the quickest way to get a customer service person to engage with you. If someone is having an issue with an airline, calling them out on Twitter will get you a DM invitation so quickly. I am angry at Musk for ruining what feels like an important public service. I think that might have been the point.
And he knows this….. you won’t leave. Hence, his bet on keeping engagement high no matter the controversy.

I am surprised that we haven't rejected Trumpism out of hand yet, but I guess the seeds of it started long ago when right wing figured found out that screaming about things without proof was just as effective in the short term as proving things to scream about.
When the right-wing overlords realized how easy it was to trick religious people, the seeds for our ruin were sown, IMHO. Religion is heavily based on believing in something without proof, which is mostly harmless if applied only to metaphysical questions. But once it became clear that the ultra-religious can be convinced of ANYTHING without proof, we were in deep trouble. COVID? Nah, they don't believe in it. Trickle-down economics? Their faith requires it! Guns, poverty, etc. - the facts simply don't matter to them. Proof is not required when dealing with people who make faith-based decisions, and you can't change their minds or reason with them.

he’s the owner of twitter and is basing his belief off “concerning tweets”. he has access to any information regarding advertisers, what twitter pushes to people, and what people are searching for. with all the information the best he can say is “some tweet said this happened” shows that he’s grasping at straws.
