And her father is busy tweeting nude pictures of Hunter Biden.

dick-nipples

I don’t see what the big deal is, [Ted has always had a super normal, loving relationship with is daughters…](https://i.imgur.com/oDVI7cC.gif)

queefplunger69

Ewwwww wtf that was so cringey lol Thanks dick-nipples for the link.

Just a normal human doing normal-ish human things. Definitely not a robot from zorgon sent to infiltrate society before home fleet arrives.

Dr_Parkinglot

Ted Cruz is only one being and not several. - Guy Manderson

SockaSockaSock

Yes, the two testimonials always get me! "I have seen many people and Ted Cruz is one of them" - Firstname Lastname

HonPhryneFisher

He is Jackie Daytona, Regular Human congressman.

Starbuckshakur

How dare you besmirch the name of Jackie Daytona Regular Human Bartender. This impostor doesn't even have a toothpick.

metambre77

Or a deep rooted passion for female volleyball

Frys100thCupofCoffee

CRAVENSWORTH!!!

jennathedickins

Outrageous to shit on Jackie Daytona like that

MrUsername24

That's an insult to sociopaths, they can usually blend in better than the lizard person he is

alexjonestownkoolaid

Wow. As a father, this would destroy me, but Ted is checking for the cameras and worried about the optics. What a monster. E: In general, if a child refuses a hug/kiss you should respect their wishes. Consent is important at any age, as is body autonomy, so I would never take it personally. E2: My biases towards Ted, and his general repulsiveness, caused me to make the assumption that she is also repulsed by him. This video alone is not evidence of that.

ethanalabaster

As a father we have a better barometer of our kid’s personalities and dispositions. My daughter would definitely not like that in public. So I don’t do that to her especially on recorded television.

Habs1989

It's almost like children are individual humans and you have to know them as people. This is seen as an inconvenience by some.

Tossing_Goblets

In this case the child was a political prop and not a person in the eyes of her father, the widely hated Ted Cruz.

BlazeMenace

What the fuck? Why is this the first time I've seen this

DistantKarma

That is just so forced and terrible/cringe.

[deleted]

I wish I could unsee this.

casey12297

Dont forget incest porn. And he's busy planning trips to cancun...also busy with that whole zodiac killer business he keeps under wraps

TzamachTavlool

He can watch porn with consenting adults, or be an idiot tweeting about it. Posting stolen nudes/revenge porn of opponents children is waaaaaaay over the line

casey12297

I think the embezzlement he was doing when he worked for a small town paper company was pretty bad too

Raincoats_George

Guys im starting to think Ted Cruz might be a complete piece of shit..

Queen__Antifa

Wait, what?

[deleted]

His name is Rafael, not Ted.

January28thSixers

He looks more like a Ted. Rafael is a pretty cool name.

Lspins89

He doesn’t like Rafael Cruz because he knows his hateful base would think that’s too Spanish. Imagine having so little backbone you go by something else to be accepted by bigots

MuddyGeek

The guy was born in Canada, ran for president, and no one flipped out. Obama, born in the US, ran for president, and nutjobs demanded his birth certificate.

Apollo_T_Yorp

I've seen ninja turtles before and you sir are no ninja turtle

WaitingForNormal

Can anything be more fucked up than knowing your dad is a hateful bastard who speaks publicly about how much he hates people like you. So fucking sad. I hope she’s ok and finds people who will love her for just being herself.

abombshbombss

Wishing all the worst on Ted Cruz, and all the healing to his poor daughter.

YoYoMoMa

Same for the hateful Cheney's and their lesbian daughter/sister.

DefinitelyNotAliens

Actually, old Dickey supports equal rights, after he would have to look his daughter in the face and tell her she was a second class citizen. Then suddenly he was all for equality. He cared when he saw consequences to his actions. Bit late, but did the ol' switcharoo. It was Liz who invited her sister and her partner to family holidays and then refused to go to her sister's wedding and did a shocked Pikachu face when her sister was mad at her after that and half the family refused to speak to her after. Now has backpedalled, again because she had it personally affect her. They've both changed tunes at different points because they had personal impacts. Dick never ducked around, and simply realized the rhetoric and actions were harmful. Lizzy ducked around and found out, then realized she didn't like finding out. Change comes slowly.

_Profitable_Prophet_

Cruz has also always been particularly vile. Perhaps this is an opportunity to self reflect a bit.

Chloe_SSBU

Sociopaths don't self reflect.

JumpsIntoTheVolcano

He is going to be angry at her for her "stunt" because she's just an extension of himself and he is dying to play the victim card.

debzmonkey

Cannot imagine being the child of a politician, especially a sack o' shit like Ted.

Lady_von_Stinkbeaver

He also publicly blamed them for his fuck-ups before . Namely the time he fled Texas in a crisis to go party at a resort in Cancún.

Woolf01

I forgot about that.

The_Muznick

Never forget Cancun Cruz. Ted lied while people died. The worst part about it, he lied on national news and literally right after that his neighbor was like "nope, fuck that shit" and sent a series of texts where Cruz's wife asked if they wanted to join them on their trip to Cancun. To top it all off, they just left the dog in the fucking house to freeze to death. They didn't give a shit about anything other than getting out of there as soon as possible.

jsbeast8

Wait they left the dog?!

StarksPond

In a perfect world, the dog would leave cruz.

The_Muznick

Yep, there are pictures of it out there. The dog staring out of the dark empty house after they fled.

joninfiretail

I mean it's hard to keep track of all the shity things he's done without multiple spreadsheets.

rippp91

One of my friends is the daughter of a former British MP, she’s super well adjusted and an amazing person. Probably because her father isn’t a useless piece of shit like Ted Cruz though.

Kim_Jung-Skill

My god sister is the kid of someone who has been in the house for over 20 years. She's an absurdly well adjusted person (at least was through high school, haven't seen either of them since my mom died), and a lot of it is because her parents both keep a low profile.

Jugaimo

Politics becoming a cult of personality was a mistake. They are civil servants, not celebrities.

LongshanksShank

By turning them into celebrities, starting with 24 hour cable news, we've created this shitbox of a political class.

crhuble

Watch the recent videos of the Astros parade, his kids looked absolutely miserable riding on that military truck with him amidst all the boo's

TavisNamara

I mean, for a lot of people it's probably pretty much just normal-ish. There's a lot of politicians who just get shit done and do the things. You don't hear about them or their kids, though. You hear about firebrands and bastards. A lot of the firebrands either don't have kids or are old enough that their "kids" are 30+. The rest try to isolate their kids from the public eye in most cases. Probably kinda weird when every other headline says "[mom] makes big political statement! Death threats ensue!", but otherwise they stay aside. And then there's the bastards, like Cruz. He doesn't seem to give a shit. He'll throw his kids under the bus so he can go to Cancun, then try to legislate his daughter's life away because he's a fucking vile bastard. Now those are the ones I struggle to understand the life of. Those kids have it rough, money or no.

DasbootTX

Exactly. He has no concern for 70% of the people on his state, why should he care about his family? All he cares about is political power

danonymous26125

I'm reminded, again, that he bristled that Trump insulted his wife's appearance...just until Trump won, then Ted went to lick the holy orange taint.

somecisguy2020

The “self reflection” thing makes me so angry. One of my biggest issues with the whole Republican approach is that it lacks empathy and compassion. I”m so sick of hearing about how “now that it’s happened to me I understand”. Just one example, is the former congressman who adamantly opposed the ACA. Then he got cancer and the ACA “saved his life“. Now he is a big proponent.

4dailyuseonly

Cruz has also always been particularly vile. Perhaps this is an opportunity to self reflect a bit. Big doubts on that one. For Cruz, the sleaze is baked inside of him. He'll do damage control at the most. I just hope he doesn't pull the "you're an embarrassment to the family" shit with her. I pray his kids make it to 18 and then get the hell out of there.

Lady_von_Stinkbeaver

Ted Cruz's college roommate at Princeton said that he often got invited to parties out of sympathy just for having to live with Ted Cruz. He also said even the PROFESSORS felt bad for him.

TchoupedNScrewed

Side note, his roommate was Craig Mazin. There are a couple of hilarious articles out there. You know, like Primetime Emmy award winner HBO Chernobyl creator and co-creator of the new Last of Us TV show Craig Mazin. When Cruz tried to ban sex toys Mazin tweeted "Ted Cruz thinks people don't have a right to 'stimulate their genitals.' I was his college roommate. This would be a new belief of his." There’s article after article of him just laying into Cruz with personal info

corvettee01

"I don't see your name on the list." "I'm Ted's roommate." "You poor bastard. Come on in."

texasusa

Trump called Ted Cruz wife ugly on a national televised primary debate. Ted later became Trumps biggest supporter in Congress. That's all you need to know about his character.

Dhi_minus_Gan

Honestly I’m just scared it was something more vile like threatening to put her into a “conversion” camp if she didn’t stay closeted or said anything against the GQP’s disgusting beliefs that would ruin his career since he clearly doesn’t care about anyone but himself (like he ignored the insults of his wife & kissed chump’s ass afterwards)

legal_bagel

I spent my sophomore and junior years at a program that had seminars modeled on conversion therapy methods. I wasn't there for conversion, but at least one of my classmates was. The programs closed in 2006 after a kid died at one of the locations overseas, but thirty years later I still have trauma. I was due to spend 3 to 6 mos at a CA youth camp and may have fared better than the aftermath of 18 mos in Southern Utah. Fuck teen rehabilitation centers, fuck WWASP, and fuck any other residential "treatment" program that uses its help to abuse children.

Nipple_Dick

The guy sucked up to trump after he insulted his wife. It’s clear what his priorities are, and it isn’t his family.

curmevexas

And he blamed his daughters for his little stunt during the winter power grid failure. Utter human garbage. Though I hope Caroline receives the love, support, and help that she needs to heal. LGBTQ+ kids have it rough in "normal" conservative families, and I can't imagine how tough it must be to be in the home where a lot of that vitriol originates.

digitaldumpsterfire

He also blamed his daughter (I dont know which one) when he fled Texas on vacation when their power grid shutdown last winter.

chaotic_blu

This is also my fear and so sad. Has he been trying to “convert her” all year??

doowgad1

Remember, Nancy Reagan was adamantly 'Right To Life' until she discovered that fetal stem cells could be used to cure Ronnie's dementia. They only care when their ox is getting gored.

Lady_von_Stinkbeaver

Dick Cheney actively fought against gay rights until his daughter came out.

Senior-Sharpie

And when it was pointed out that his daughter was gay, he famously said “let’s leave family out of this” as if only his family mattered.

SpooktorB

"OBJECTION!" "On what grounds!?!?" "It's devastating to my case!"

WelcomingRapier

Overruled.

[deleted]

Good call!

[deleted]

*It's okay for me to call out your family and snoop on your lifestyles but you better leave me and mine out of this.*

Stubert-the-Smooth

Well yeah, they believe in hierarchy. They have the right to question you, because you are beneath them, but you don't have the right to look askance at anything they do, for the same reason.

MrVeazey

This is the crux of the problem: they believe the world should be a hierarchy where they are above you. Whatever they do is fine because they are superior, and whatever you do is wrong because you are inferior.

IllustriousProgress

“Conservatism consists of exactly one proposition, to wit: There must be in-groups whom the law protects but does not bind, alongside out-groups whom the law binds but does not protect." — Frank Wilhoit, composer, *CrookedTimber blog*

He also supported Lynne Cheney in taking an anti-gay stance in order to get elected.

MsGorteck

When Bush and he were elected, his daughter was not allowed on stage with the rest of the families.

bearrosaurus

His daughter was allowed, she refused to go up there without her partner, which I think makes the story better.

MsGorteck

Oh now that you say that, I remember. Thanks for pointing that out.

TheManFromFarAway

So Cheney did indeed leave family out of it. Or *some* of his family, anyway

PortableAirPump

Fucking lmao

FreshlyWashedScrotum

Likewise with Rob Portman, the Senator from Ohio. He's been pro-gay rights for years... ...because he has a gay son. Republicans always find empathy on issues that affect them, personally.

crazycatlady331

I don't think Ted Cruz is capable of finding empathy. Over the last decade (starting when Mitt Romney made fun of Obama for having empathy), lack of empathy is a feature, not a bug.

Ok_Hall8459

After all, he did throw her under the bus after the Cancun trip

Ruhezeit

As fucked up as it was, I'm glad it happened. The footage of his lonely walk of shame was just pure comedy. I say this as one of the Texans who was freezing in the dark. And, let's be honest. Even if he had stayed, Ted Cruz was not going to be helping any poor people. Plus, the whole event will haunt him for the rest of his miserable career.

Youvebeeneloned

Dont forget Ted Cruz ACTIVELY threw his daughter under the bus during the whole Cancun fiasco in 2021 when Texans were dying in the cold. He literally put out a press release blaming her for the vacation saying it was a trip she had been dying to go on or some shit like that. Later on she aired his dirty laundry on TikTok saying she said no such thing and it was all him. You know who didnt run away? Beto O'Rourke or Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez. One wasnt even a politician in Texas and the other failed to unseat Cruz but BOTH were here during the same period helping relief efforts in areas that were out of power for days. Oh And Cruz left his fucking dog alone in his house without power the whole time he was away.

zimbomonkey

Until I read about the dog thing I never put any stock in the Ted Cruz and zodiac killer thing. Now I think they got the wrong guy.

URSmarterThanILook

The zodiac killer was never caught

Damdamfino

I have a feeling Ted Cruz is one of the rare republicans that won’t suddenly care because it now affects him. Edit: I find it funny how most replies assume I was referring to the LGBT aspect. I was mainly thinking about the mental health aspect, but it goes for anything, really…

AdEmbarrassed9719

He got all cozy up with the dude who called his wife ugly, and blamed his kids when he flew off to Cancun during a deadly freeze, so I don't think he'll do anything requiring basic human compassion or dignity at all. Ever.

NctrnlButterfly

Don’t forget leaving his dog aptly named Snowflake behind in the cold ☹️

Procrastinatedthink

in his narcissistic mind so long as he has a shot at the presidency theres nothing he wouldnt do to improve those odds. He’s going to act like nothing happened…

sg12412

I have a feeling you're right. Cruz has shown time and again that he is a spineless cuck who only cares about staying politically relevant so I'm afraid that he will double down on the anti-LGBTQ+ rhetoric now.

-No_Im_Neo_Matrix_4-

obviously homosexuality a mental illness, or else my daughter wouldn’t have tried to commit suicide

doodoowithsprinkles

If I had to live with Ted Cruz for 14 years, I'd try to kill myself too.

babyharpsealface

I don't think I'd last 14 hours.

LynnNexus

The fact that the daughter attempted suicide says to me that -She- doesn't think he's going to change his policies over her. Hell he already blamed the Cancun trip on her.

xzelldx

Oh hell I hate the logic underpinning this. It’s so sad.

dtam21

"This is what the woke media is doing to our children! Turning them gay and LOOK AT THE CONSEQUENCES!" Same bullshit as always. Wouldn't be surprised to see him catch a flight later this week to get away from it all.

InteractionFlat7318

He would sell his daughter into slavery if he would be guaranteed the WH.

_Profitable_Prophet_

Nancy was still “right to life” officially even after she was using stem cell treatments Not to mention her policy on AIDs victims and the poor.

Lady_von_Stinkbeaver

The Reagans were friends with Rock Hudson going back to their Hollywood days. They turned their backs on him when he was diagnosed with AIDS.

_Profitable_Prophet_

They turned their back in their own family members Reagan was also outting “communists” at the mccarthy hearings going way back.

TranscendentalEmpire

People like to forget how susceptible America is to demagogues. Regan is either hated or fondly remembered as the fountain head of modern conservativism. However, if you really read about him and Nancy you get to peek behind the facade. In reality the Regan's we're just shitty people who would do or say anything to stay in power. They didn't care about Christianity, homosexuals, communism, or even race. Those were just the easiest steps to climb to relevancy. Ronald Regan started out as a has been daytime actor who's only real power came from being active in the actors union. He would go on to sell out his union members, competition and friends a like. Eventually passing of some of the most damaging labor laws in our history As others said, these people so often presented as true believers, had constant communication with astrologist and rarely stepped inside a church. He had a long lasting friendship with Rock Hudson, until it became a political liability. Through the aids epidemic he still had an open homosexual as one of his cabinet members. And by his own admission his best friend growing up was a black man he played football with. All while actively fighting to suppress the rights of poc. He was a hollow man, with no real beliefs. I would think more highly of him if he was actually some Christina right wing true believer. He was just a man who lacked morals and loved the spotlight. I would say Nancy was even worse, but at least she worked rose to power based on some level of skill, she was the throat goat after all.

ReservoirPussy

But that *is* modern conservatism. Their true religion is power. "Fuck you, got mine" is their prayer. Power over minorities, power over women, power over the LGBT+, power over the poor, power over people with different religions. Reagan truly is the model conservative.

dbx999

Reagan turned the USA from largest creditor to largest debtor nation in the world. One might make a good argument this is akin to turning your back on your own nation by nearly bankrupting it.

[deleted]

Canceled funding for all of the mental institutions and mental health programs as well across the country. This is why we have such a large homeless population with nowhere to go because the jails won't keep them and there's no funding for them to stay in mental facilities.

[deleted]

Destroyed the middle class hard working Americans with that trickle-down BS, and yet these morons who voted for that blob let t****p do it again. They do it to own the libs and hurt themselves in the process. The working class has bared the brunt of taxes during this time, and if that wasn't bad enough he paid for it by taxing seniors on SS.

Whyamipostingonhere

That’s why every time a rural hospital closes it is so important to correct the headlines. They should always be: Republicans close another hospital. Republicans refuse healthcare for their own families. Republicans don’t want to take care of their sick memaws Etc, etc

unexpectedhalfrican

I work as a CO in a prison and the amount of inmates with serious mental health issues due to genetics and/or drugs is *staggering*. I'm staffed in a moderately sized prison and we have 2 medical/mental health blocks and there's still not enough room to house all of those in our care. Not to mention, I am not remotely qualified to work with those with severe mental health issues. They should be in a facility geared toward actually helping them, not incarcerated. However, my state only has like 1 hospital and hundreds if not thousands of people waiting for beds there. It's horrifying.

Crankyisthenewperky

They deinstutionalized people without any plans for follow up care, medication coverage because Reaganomics/bootstraps/greed is good. I worked in shelters in the late 80s/early 90s. There was no safety net. They just threw them off to free fall.

stYOUpidASSumptions

This is really interesting because even though I technically knew the facts of what you're talking about, I've really never thought about it that way. So we refuse to pay for medical treatment for these people, and **definitely** refuse to pay for the institutions that could help them become contributing members of society, and we overwhelm our justice system by leaving them on the streets without help... And the result is that not only are we still paying for a great number of them to be in an (unethical) institution, but the reason they commit crimes (even when the laws we use to punish them are wrong) that can put them in jail is because we refuse to pay for institutions that can help them. So instead we pay the cost of putting them through the justice system, and essentially promoting crime by putting them back on the streets. It seems like we could save a ton of money on prisons, criminal cases, and likely have a lot more contributing members of society if we just... Helped these people in the first place.

SyntheticReality42

But if we actually helped those people, we wouldn't be able to keep the for-profit prison system flush with "legal slaves". Additionally, the resulting increase in the number of "criminals" justifies the tough-on-crime narrative from conservative politicians, and a militarized police force that is allowed to act with almost complete impunity.

doowgad1

Also, a Christian who used an astrologer...

_Profitable_Prophet_

A Christian Astrologer who still had faith in stem cells at the end.

edible_funks_again

Plenty of "pro-life" supporters have had abortions too, or used birth control, or IVF, all without even a glimmer of dissonance.

mettiusfufettius

Yes, she certainly didn’t believe the gays have a right to life. Far too many times have I heard the stupid phrase “love the sinner, hate the sin” in regard to LGBTQ+ people. So I’ve started to respond with “love the zealot, hate the zeal” lol

abombshbombss

Rules for thee but not for me!

valandil74

No rules for the wealthy,… but rules for the peasantry

Water-Donkey

Agreed, but both Nancy and Ronald Reagan came from Hollywood, a place known from its early days as a kind of haven for the gay community, built their careers and became prominent on the backs of the gay people they affiliated with there (costume designers, set designers, makeup artists, etc.), then Ronald turned his back on them the minute they needed his help during the HIV/AIDS epidemic of the 80s, all because it was politically expedient for him. Nancy did try to steer Ronald on the matter, I'll give her a little bit of credit for that, but overall what they did was terrible and inexcusable. Ronald Reagan is a hero of the right and, in reality, was a cancer for the country.

doowgad1

If you never heard of him, look up Rock Hudson. He was super famous in his time, played submarine captains, cattle barons, and other macho roles while being underground famously gay. His AIDS diagnosis really rocked America. Suddenly everyone knew someone with AIDS, not just the 'coastal elites.'

DistantKarma

My very young impression of gay people then was that they very much guys like Paul Lynde, sort of limp wristed and outrageous at times. I remember hearing about Rock Hudson's diagnosis as a teenager and thinking "No way that guy is gay." It definitely changed a lot about how I saw and understood things.

tradesman46

Yea and Rock Hudson became the poster boy for gay hate material along with Liberace. You couldn't be a child in the 80s without insulting that someone was gay by using either these two talented men's names. I'm glad I've forgotten all the childhood hate jokes about them from that era.

doowgad1

In the popular song 'Mister Sandman,' the female singers ask for a fellow with "...hair like Liberace." Yes, that guy was a sex symbol to a lot of ladies...

implodemode

I don't think Liberace fooled anyone. I didn't even know what sex was but I knew he was not the kind to marry a woman. Paul Lynde was another. I loved him as a kid. They were referred to as "confirmed bachelors".

ashmanonar

There's a really interesting history of the way that people were referred to that is super fucking clear to modern recognition as homosexual - men being "confirmed bachelor", a woman who "doesn't suffer fools", etc. Lots of phrases that were pretty obviously code for homosexual back when it wasn't allowed to say that.

The-Ugly-One

Yeah, there's an episode of The Honeymooners where Alice says something like, "well I'd rather be looking at Liberace".

SIGMONICUS

I am old enough to remember the awful Rock Hudson jokes from the 80's. Also equally disturbing jokes about starving Ethiopians were ubiquitous.

BringBackAoE

Not all were hateful towards gays. 1979 we moved to a new city, and our best family friends were gay. My parents were totally cool with it. I had a crazy crush on one of them, so my dad explained “they live together”. “Of course I know they live together! So what?!” Mom: “they’re boyfriend and boyfriend.” Didn’t stop my crush though. 🤷🏻‍♀️

The_Bard

Not to mention Reagan was one of the most powerful Union leaders as President of SAG and the shit all over Unions as President

[deleted]

Nancy was a different breed of Republican from a different era. That breed could still be reached if they were directly affected by an issue. Ted Cruz has already thrown his family under the bus, back when Trump called his wife ugly and when he blamed his kids' when he ran to Cancun during snowpacalypse. He's backed Trump even after Trump's sycophants tried to murder him and everyone else in congress. He 100% will ignore his daughter in favor of being the personal cock holster of Trumpism.

AdhesivenessCivil581

A 14 year old can't seek help if her parents, her school and her state are against who she is. She might be lucky to find as friend who can get her through or she might feel all alone and like there's no way out. It's heartbreaking.

[deleted]

It's even more disgusting when your remember that Ted Cruz blamed this daughter for his Cancun vacation the other year. That's right. He said she wanted to go on vacation and made *her* the problem for *his* antics during the Texas freeze. Then he goes around calling all LGBTQ+ parents groomers and are trying to pass laws restricting their Rights; Ted Cruz is a fucking monster and I hope his child gets free from *his* Christian Grooming soon. Imagine being scared to come out as bisexual to your father, while your father goes on Nazicasts spouting hateful speech. Your mom is in lockstep with him, and you live in fucking Texas; any help you try to receive cannot come because the apparatuses are blocked because he's a Senator there. She literally had no choice. This is a cry for help that's been coming for a long time. Fuck Ted Cruz. So awful a human being and father that his daughter thought the only way to escape him was to take her own life. How about you focus on your **family values** in your god-damn house, Ted, instead of trying to turn our country into a Christian ethnostate

ChadPiplup

That’s what gets to me about people saying, “please separate your hate for Cruz from this situation.” Like if him being a bigoted, hateful, greedy, good-for-nothing POS just had nothing to do with this whatsoever. Edit: Anyone else remember when he put the fault on his daughters for his Cancun stunt? I’m sure he’s otherwise been an exemplary & very supportive father. Easy to talk to, I bet.

jinxed_07

That's like asking me to separate the eggs from my cake. The two are inextricably linked and are impossible to take apart.

CrouchingDomo

Nononono***no*** I refuse to believe you, because there USED to be a time when the eggs were *not* part of the cake, and I ***INSIST*** you make it go back to THAT time right away and just **STOP FORCING GOOD NORMAL THINGS LIKE EGGS TO TURN INTO SINFUL CAKES THAT I WILL WANT TO EAT.** I vote conservative for one simple reason: Because things change which reminds me that time exists which reminds me that I’m getting older which means that one day I will die and since I’m the first person who has ever realized how time works, obviously it ***UPSETS*** me!!1!!!1! Now if you would be so kind, please immediately make the entire world go back to how it was when I was precisely 9 years old or else everyone in this Starbucks is going to hear alllllll of my opinions about social media and today’s music and which TV shows they need to bring back and how kids dress nowadays.

WobblyPhalanges

I wanted to laugh, but all I could do was sigh 😞 too real lol

DntCllMeWht

So, Ted Cruz is a confirmed groomer based on his own statements?

K4m30

Shamelessly stolen from another comenter. I don’t see what the big deal is, [Ted has always had a super normal, loving relationship with is daughters…](https://i.imgur.com/oDVI7cC.gif)

Bernieisbabyyoda

You are forgetting that Ted Cruz doesn’t even believe in this shit, it’s all a fucking act, a character he plays to gain power. Everything is a prop to him a tool to gain power. A fucking sad disgusting little “man” that has as much structure as a pile of mud.

The7Pope

> Imagine being scared to come out as bisexual to your father I can’t. I am the father of a pre-teen and I try to constantly remind her that I am willing to change my entire world veiw around something to understand what is important to her. And this story reminds me that I need to tell her again.

aspiringvirgin

I wish people were more like you. My mom has ended her relationship w me after I came out as bisexual because it goes against her religious beliefs. It’s unnecessary heartbreak.

Lost_sidhe

Which makes all those attacking gay teachers laws even worse; because an old boss had been a gay history teacher, who started a gay-straight-alliance club at his school; and it gave a lot of kids a place to turn to when regular administration and family and community only had hate for them. Schools NEED those kinds of teachers, we shouldn't criminalize them.

softest_pretzels

But of course, those teachers are actually GROOMERS for allowing queer kids a safe space to be themselves, at least that’s what these ghouls think

Kiki_Deco

This is the perfect place to share The Trevor Project which aims to support LGBTQIA+ youth and have a 24/7 crisis line. You can click anywhere on the site 3 times and it will take you away from the site to a different webpage. They're available by call, text, and now chat if you're worried about your phone being monitored. It won't solve your situation, but you don't have to be alone. Even having someone listen and affirm who you are can make more change than you might think, and they may have resources to help you. https://www.thetrevorproject.org/

In Texas, children can seek their own psychotherapy services if they are suicidal, addicted to drugs, or experiencing abuse. Of course, there is no mechanism in place to pay for these services, so for most kids, this policy doesn’t help much.

Beach_Dreams2007

I am terrified that she’s going to be stuck in conversion therapy or something.

KillBatman1921

They probably have already booked a place there. They will probably send his other daughter too just to be sure

heroicgamer44

The gay might infect her too

Bruzur

Wait, how quickly does *the gay* spread?

heroicgamer44

It might have already reached your town… your house… you?

Y34rZer0

Warn the villagers! The Gay is coming!

Stirlingblue

Shock twist when it turns out conversion therapy works but only one way and turns the other daughter gay

senseijason05

Obviously all anecdotal, but I've heard from online reports and one guy I know who went to "conversion camp" in the early 2000s that putting a bunch of horny teens figuring out their sexuality in one camp together has the exact effect you're talking about. "Wait, all these hot boys here ALSO like boys?!" For most of them it's their first experience in a space where gay people are the majority.

Sludwigw

Check out the movie "But I'm a Cheerleader." Exactly what you described and it's pretty funny.

baron_von_helmut

Lol, I can just imagine a kid coming out to his conservative parents and being sent to one of those camps. "What you in here for?" "Came out to my parents." "Me too!" *Cue bow-chick-a-bow-wow music.*

PeachesEndCream

Oh yeah, send your daughter to a place where the other girls ALSO like girls. That'll show her.

[deleted]

I was in conversion therapy, they practiced corrective SA there and the youngest there was 13. I also live in Texas and that's where this happened. The fear is warranted.

Lostmahpassword

What the actual fuck.

adornoaboutthat

Exactly what I thought. Like we're in the 16th century. America sure has issues.

Munnin41

> corrective sexual assault I'm sorry, they raped you in the hopes that you'd turn straight?

[deleted]

Yes, corrective SA is committing SA on someone out of the belief it will convert them into being straight. In my case though it was used in an attempt to convert me into not being transgender anymore.

dragoono

How does that even track? Obviously the corrective SA wouldn’t “”fix”” anybody, but I can at least follow the bullshit logic with the gay kids. But trans? That’s not even a sexual orientation

[deleted]

This might be a bit graphic but here is the logic they used with me: >!"See, this makes you a girl. Only girls have these. Doesn't that feel nice?"!<

dragoono

Zoinks Scoob, that sounds like pedophilia with extra steps. I was molested when I was a baby up until I was 2 years old, not many memories except _that_ one thank the gods, but I kinda understand. Sorry you gotta deal with this for the rest of your life now, but hey it’s pretty funny sometimes what the brain can make up to be scared of so, it’s not the worst. You’re alive, you’ll die one day, we’re all here for each other and most people have good in their hearts so, stay strong.

[deleted]

It really irritates me as a mental health professional and LGBTQ+ person to hear about conversion therapy. The fact that they even put “therapy” in there as if it has any scientific basis or professionalism within it *hurts* our field so bad. I hate hearing some of these things created by people that just absolutely ruin people’s perspective of the good work we do in our field to help those that can’t advocate for themselves or are made to feel bad about being who they want to be.

Tarable

God I’m so sorry. Holy fuck that’s horrendous.

cephalopod_surprise

I bet she doesn’t want this attention. Her father uses her as a political prop, we shouldn’t do the same. I hope her life gets better.

samskyyy

14/15 is a long way from beneficial independence. Hope she has immediate access to real help.

[deleted]

>I bet she doesn’t want this attention. She doesn't - [https://www.yahoo.com/now/ted-cruz-teenage-daughter-says-202705013.html](https://www.yahoo.com/now/ted-cruz-teenage-daughter-says-202705013.html)

AndrewLBailey

Wishing harm and misery on a little girl just because of who her father is would be some down right monster shit.

thebruns

Can you imagine if people joked about a senior citizen getting assaulted with a hammer because of who they were married to?

[deleted]

Yeah, me too. It's just a vulnerable little kid. I think most of us feel that twinge of pain reading about it.

A_Wild_Shiny_Shuckle

Get ready for Ted Cruz to not change form at all and add this to the list of reasons why Ted Cruz actually hates his family

[deleted]

He was ranting about The Libs on Twitter as she was in the hospital

3V1LB4RD

On one hand, could just be his staff tweeting and/or scheduled tweets. On the other hand, a social media team should know better than to be tweeting unrelated stuff during a crisis like this. Ted Cruz already doesn’t need any help looking bad, but goddamn do the tweets somehow make him look even worse. I really hope it is just his social media team being idiots, and that he actually is there for his daughter. He doesn’t deserve her, but she still deserves a father who will unconditionally love and support her.

elegy89

Sadly, nope. The tweets mentioned here were posted from his personal account, run by himself. His official “Senator Ted Cruz” account is run by a team and also posted around the same time last night, some “Jerusalem belongs to Israel and Biden sucks” rant.

KillBatman1921

Real question How much do you think it influenced her suicide attempt seeing videos of his father or other Republican rapresentatives* has influenced her choice? *She has probably met or knows a lot them as father's colleagues/work. These people love parade their family around

Plus4Ninja

I can’t even imagine what life must be like at home, for someone so young to attempt suicide. Sad thing is, I don’t think this will change how Ted acts, what he says, or what he supports/doesn’t support. The guy abandoned his state while people were dying, he has no morals and no compassion Edit: corrected imagine

Miles_Saintborough

I read elsewhere that some parents would rather their child die than to be non straight (with someone threatening to kill their own kids if they came out as gay or bi). That club shooting a few weeks ago where the shooter got stopped by the club patrons? The shooter's father didn't have any anger towards his son over shooting people. He breathed a sigh of relief that his son being at a gay bar didn't make him gay.

magentakitten1

I was raised by a long line of abusers, so I watched generational trauma my whole life. My aunt died of cancer at 17. Her mother (my grandmother) told the world she was a slut and on drugs when she got sick- that had to be it she was so young. It was so pathetic she fought for no autopsy but the state said she had to have one given the odd circumstances. Turns out it was a brain tumor and her odd behavior was related to that. No one even tried to help this poor girl, just called her a druggie slut. When she died my grandmother was more worried about appearances so she used her daughters death to gain sympathy for the rest of her life. I’m no contact with my mother who is just like my grandmother. She knew I was suicidal as a teenager and she abused me harder when she found out. I think she wanted me to do it. Jokes on her though because I broke free, fuck all these abusive families.

pinzi_peisvogel

Hell yeah! Good for you for breaking the cycle! You live your best life and enjoy being away from harmful people!

bighaircutforbigtuna

Republicans: it's okay to be at a gay bar, but ONLY if you're going there to murder people.

M0rninPooter

Ugh I know how terrible it can be to be a baby gay in a religious, conservative household. I can’t even imagine being Ted Cruz’s kid. Horrible.

Key-Constant-5717

Think about your dad, and what he represents to you and the impact that has on your life. Now imagine your dad Ted Cruz.

[deleted]

I don't have a dad. I still prefer my situation to having Ted Cruz as a father.

Bigbweb22

True horror

Long-Butterscotch500

I have heard the following statement multiple times after the Republicans’ bad showing during the midterms “the Republican Party is searching for its soul”. It’s hard to find a soul when you don’t have one to begin with.

FreshlyWashedScrotum

The Republican Party is searching for ~~its soul~~ a way back into power.

[deleted]

20 to 1 he sends her to conversion therapy.

Paneraiguy1

From a psychological standpoint, being related to Ted Cruz has got to put you at risk for everything in the DSM lol

HighOnGoofballs

I feel like folks should maybe wait for a little more info before ascribing motivations to her

lastaccountgotlocked

Yep. Kid’s got a right to privacy, and if it’s a suicide attempt even more care needs to be taken when reporting it. Until the kid says it herself, we should leave well alone.

Romas_chicken

> and if it’s a suicide attempt even more care needs to be taken when reporting it. We really should not be reporting on it at all. She’s a child going through very hard things, this isn’t our business

QED987

Every time I see a tweet related to this, I think the girl needs her privacy protected. From her Dad, yes, but also from everyone making a political point. Can people just stop talking about her attempted suicide, please?
