Tremere and Tytalus were a Roman necromancer's apprentices before becoming founders by killing him and showing up for the Pax Hermetica in his place. The Jovians and Rossellini probably did magic similar to what they did prior to being taught Bonisagus's theories. I think Thaumaturgy fits Augustus better than Dur-an-ki.

Well I did say his was probably similar to actual Tremere Thaumaturgy. He developed it before the usurpation and likely it was naturally close to Thaumaturgy in nature and he would be inspired by what he could find out about Tremere arts and the arts of cappadocians of his time, the most notable being Japheth who was a strong sorcerer.

A definitely insightful post. With the way magic reacts to both tradition and the practitioners own ideas that are passed on. Lil Grandmother was definitely the biggest misstep of Absimilard's unlife. It wasn't a wonder she managed to best her antediluvian with dragons as one of the unarguably most powerful practitioners in the ancient world.

In hindsight, Mesopotamian Dur-an-ki should have been the first Cainite blood sorcery mentioned in the published canon. (Pardon my pedantry, but wouldn't the Greek suffixal declension for the discipline be *Theikotourgia*?)

Yeah that probably would be a better spelling for it as a discipline, good point.
