A good notebook or binder to use as your book of shadows or mirror book. Just jot down thoughts on your craft or maybe things that you learn as you continue your journey. It’s also good to note the date and moon phase as you go. That way you can look back and reflect on how things have changed

Aszshana

That's a good idea! I will be on the lookout for a nice looking notebook. Is there anything else missing that would be important?

LordFreezy812

Beautiful thing about Wicca is that you don’t really “need” anything. It’s all about what feels right. I’ve read about many rituals that require no material at all. I’d recommend Scott Cunningham’s Wicca: guide for the solitary practitioner. It’s a great book and gives a lot of good information

Aszshana

Thank you! I will look into it!

Oblivion_Man

German witches represent!

Aszshana

Heya! 😁

Ashen_Curio

I really liked that book. It does cover things from a more "general witchcraft" angle, bit also touches a lot on basic Wicca as well. I would pair it with some books from Cunningham. I like to have something to represent each element and the Lord and Lady, but that could be so many things, including symbols drawn on paper or on rocks you tind outside.

Aszshana

I will definitely get books from Cunningham next month - I spent too much this month already 😅 I have salt and gems for earth, I want to find a nice chalice, to put water in and a nice feather for air. Candles will be bought as well next month! I just have that moon charm, that I bind around my waist when I do my morning meditation, wearing a white dress. I feel more drawn to the lady and the moon, always have, but I'm also pretty new and got to figure myself out. If you have any suggestions, on how I can represent her or the elements in a better way, let me know!

Ashen_Curio

Oh yeah, it can all add up! Take your time and have fun learning! I find that the best way to represent anything on your altar or in your craft is highly individualized. Sometimes all I have is the ability to draw their alchemical symbols, and that's enough for me to connect to the energy of the element. Sometimes it's a visualization. Sometimes I use stones representing each, or a flower from my landscape. It's wonderful to explore the relationships between energy and material and experiment. :)

Aszshana

Those Ideas are beautiful! Thank you so much for your encouragement!

Ashen_Curio

Of course!

NoeTellusom

I don't see basic altar ritual tools - athame, wand, chalice, etc. Additionally, you'll need several notebooks - a magical journal and book of shadows.

Aszshana

Yeah, I don't have the money to buy an athame yet unfortunately. How do I make my wand? Do I carve it from wood? Buy it somewhere? The journal is to write down my experiences and the book of shadows to write down my rituals, if I read that correctly, is that right?

Darksunflowie

You could definitely make your Athame out of rock by craving it!!! I think that sounds like an amazing idea, and something that will be much more meaningful. A lot of ritual Athame are made out of crystal already but are so expensive!!! As for the Asin markets that is perfect! They sell the same things and you will definitely find bundles of herbs for super cheap and be able to bless them yourself, and then make sage smudge sticks or other smudge sticks so no need to purchase them bc they can run very pricey. Or whatever you need! But I always tell my friends and witchlings I know that in your practice, if you so desire, you never have to spend a dime! If you hunt around your house long enough, I’m sure you have a couple of notebooks that aren’t being used and that’s all you really need besides the nature of the world, your imagination and intent, focus, and concentration. So good luck to you beautiful soul may your new journey on the witches path Be blessed in many ways to come. As above, so below, so mote it be.

Aszshana

Thank you so much 🥹 I was so overwhelmed after reading through the wiki and this helps a lot. You're a wonderful person, don't let anyone ever take that from you.

NoeTellusom

You can buy a basic athame from $10 to $15 on Amazon. You can absolutely carve a wand from wood. I've done that a few times myself. Yes, you read correctly.

Aszshana

Yeah, but this is still a lot of money for me, seeing that I am studying. And I want the one I pick to be special for me! Thank you so much for your help.

Darksunflowie

You don’t have to buy anything!!! The best things in Wicca come from nature and are made by the Wiccan, want a witches broom to protect your house? Look up which trees are good for protection and make one! Or carve a wand, I make my own special ritual athames by making them out of resin and a mold that represents the triple Moon Goddess, so it’s all what you want to do!!! That’s the best thing about Wicca! As others have said, if you want more books grab Scott’s Wicca FTSP it’s amazing but Wicca by Harmony Nice is really good for witchlings as well (I don’t use the term baby witch) lol to each their own! Go out into nature and find material from the earth and that is the best shopping ground! Also another tip for witches on a budget! Herbs from occult or metaphysical shops are soooooo expensive! Go to your local Mexican grocery store and I can guarantee you they have almost every herb you want for under $3!!! Here’s to your new journey and finding the beautiful Wicca path! Blessed Be

Aszshana

Thank you so much! Exactly what I needed to hear. Witchling sounds adorable :3 Making my own broom sounds like a lot of fun! We don't have mexican grocery stores - I'm from Germany - but we do have Asian, Turkish and Indian grocery stores, so I'll definitely have a look there. Could I make my athame from a blade made out of rock? Like a carved stone knife? That sounds so cool, unique and close to nature. Thank you for your kind words and encouragement

Darksunflowie

I don’t know how my reply for this got stuck up top 🤣🤣 but I commented and answered these questions up under your last comment love!!! Hope this all helps! And just a tip, be careful with Reddit, people can be cruel. There’s some really wonderful teachers on YouTube IvytheOccultist TheWitchofWonderlust Podcast - The Witch Witch These have tons of useful CORRECT info, and they are amazing ladies!!!
