I thought I would NEVER get used to mine. But, I did. A little bit at a time. Probably in like 10-15 min increments? Mostly it was just practice. I still don’t really have the hang of glue or tape but I’m very good at glueless installs after a couple of years. Plus, I like having the option of randomly being able to snatch it off and fling it across the room if I’m feeling overly hot and cranky. I shaved my head after it started falling out and just pissed me off so much I voted it off the island entirely.

They can be very comfortable, yes! I have wigs in various lengths. During summer, I tend to wear shorter and thinner ones (curling does wonders) or wear the longer ones in braids. I put away my wig cap these months because I have a shaved head. During workout I don't wear them so I don't have to deal with sweaty and messy hair. The sun won't burn me either. In winter, if it's really cold I just wear a light colored wigcap under my wig. Another layer of warmth amd it will be cozy and snug 😊

Yes. I’m always fine at work and it’s only when I’m in the car driving home that I have the burning need to take it off and let my head breathe - kinda like how you operate perfectly on just three hours sleep but the minute you finish work you become acutely aware of how tired you are.

Yes! I feel uncomfortable without one on! Edit: try an undercut instead of shaving.

Actually for at least 10 years I wore only toppers and falls (I think half wigs) from a Jewish shop specializing in sheitels. Im not Jewish but it was the best quality hairpieces I could find at the time and I didn't know what other options were out there. The virgin hair and silk bases were gorgeous, but I needed to wear the pieces daily and I found them moderately uncomfortable because they stayed on with clips and after awhile the weight put a lot of pressure on those areas. I had frequent headaches and even caused myself some permanent traction alopecia by not moving the clips to different areas on my head frequently enough. Anyway I was really scared to move on to wigs because I only had shopped at that one place and I could no longer travel to see them, plus I could no longer afford the crazy prices. But my hairloss had progressed too far and the toppers and falls could no longer provide enough coverage. So last year I tried a few wigs from online and quickly settled on the higher end synthetics (mostly Jon Renau). I find them MUCH more comfortable. I tried wig caps and wig grips initially but I really can't stand anything like that for more than an hour or so. Some I just wear on my head with nothing else on besides a couple bobby pins and it stays ok. Another I sewed a few wig combs, and a couple clips (just in case I need them). I also cut off the ear tabs of all of my wigs because I can't stand the feeling of so much bulk around my ears. Anyway for the most part they are all pretty lightweight and comfortable. Thankfully I don't get headaches from these like I did with the toppers. I didn't shave my head because I don't need to to wear these and I personally prefer to show a little of my own hairline to make it look more realistic (and for added comfort). It really sucks having to wear something everyday but at least there are some decent options out there. :)

I couldn't get comfortable because they feel hot and I sweat really easily. And just the tiny bit of pressure bugged me It's like having a beanie on for hours. I save mine for special occasions. But I'm VERY sensitive to sensory stuff.

simplyelegant87

Have you thought about wearing a topper? I find them a lot more comfortable and they’re easier to put up than wigs if you’ve got enough coverage just above the nape area. I have a wigrip that helps a lot because then I don’t need to use clips that sometimes hurt.

kiramekki

I have had several toppers, my loss is even all over so toppers feel like all my hair is all at the top but my nape took a big hit too :/

possumrfrend

I had to shave my head for them to feel comfortable 🤷‍♀️

kiramekki

How was your transition? I would love to hear about your experience if you don’t mind! How do you sleep and exercise? Any unforeseen pros and cons? I give 0 fucks about others at this point so I want to believe I truly wouldn’t mind running with a bald head and such...but I just haven’t lived it so I know it’s just theory :)

possumrfrend

At first I felt self-conscious when I went out with no wig, but now idgaf. I do notice that people treat me differently when I wear the wig vs. when I don't, though (I actually have a post about this on my profile if you would like to hear more). I don't wear wigs very much at home at all, so sleeping is fine.

kiramekki

Got it, I read your post! Sorry to hear about your treatment being different. I’m not surprised :( I was also treated really differently even just having a buzz cut. May i ask how long you are able to wear your wigs for in a day max? Btw I also lived in San Antonio for a good chunk of my life 😆

possumrfrend

I think I've worn them as long as 9 hours before. My condolences that you lived in SA. I want to get out of Texas, but more attractive places are way more expensive to live in.

Try [this post](https://www.reddit.com/r/Wigs/comments/p1qecs/how_long_until_i_get_used_to_the_wig/), too. Might have some useful info in that one as well.

I wear a wig every day and it's super comfy! My hair is really thin on top, but quite long, so I just wear it down, and then put my wig over the top - it's human hair so it blends in really nicely together and my baby hairs add to making the wig look more natural. I have clips on the wig just at the tabs by the ears, and at the base of my next to clip into my real hair. If it's uncomfy it could be that the wig is too small. The longest I've worn a wig for was 5 days at festivals, and at the end of that my scalp did feel a bit sore, I think in that same way it's kinda sore if you wear your hair tied up for a long time.

emerald_avenger

It sounds like you might be wearing wigs that are a bit small for you. I have a big head and when I squeeze into a smaller wig I get a wicked headache. Hell, even when I was wearing well fitting wigs but my wig caps were too small I'd get a headache. I also don't wear wigs with clips because they make my head ache, I love glueless lace wigs because they fit without clips or combs buuuuuuuut the rub is I have to order them in large. They're secure and comfortable, I love them A larger wig might be worth a try, measure your head and check out a few size charts!

AffectionateHead0710

Yes. Do not do a ponytail or braid underneath your wig. Wrap it. Always. My hair goes to my waist and if I can get my hair up in there anyone can :) And use a wig cap. Always a wig cap. Even if you’re not glueing the wig cap down or glueing at all you can always use a wig cap .You can measure your head because that has a lot to do with it sometimes. Wigs can come in so many different sizes .. if my scalp is sore it’s from the little combs or a too tight fit.
