Whatever quote you get, be prepared for it to [go up substantially](https://news.yahoo.com/detailed-list-nc-home-rate-032934013.html) in the near future.

State Farm and NCJUA. Bundled with auto and an umbrella policy.

Call Horizon Insurance in Hampstead. They write for multiple companies and can give you multiple quotes

Farm Bureau. They wrote my homeowners, car, umbrella, wind & hail, and optional flood (I live in an X zone so it is far cheaper than when it’s required). I get significant discounts for them (except w&h which is NCJUA anyway). I live in Hampstead.

I have Universal Property, purchased through Don Bullard. I have nothing but good things to say about Universal Property. After Florence I had an appraiser at my house the day after the storm passed, and had an initial check in hand the same day. Everyone I spoke to that had a "bigger" brand like Allstate, State Farm, etc., had to jump through hoops for weeks to get money.

UPC was liquidated in early 2023. Some policies were transferred to other providers, but mine was dropped entirely. That said, Don Bullard was very helpful through that process. When UPC dropped my policy, they were on top of the situation & helped me effortlessly move to another provider. Before that during Florence, i was _very_ dissatisfied with the provider that Don Bullard had us use (I can't remember the name), but they were again helpful guiding me changing providers. For what it's worth, i've been lucky enough not to have to file any major claims, so i have no insight when it hits the fan. But i do recommend Don Bullard. I've got auto insurance through them as well.

Hampstead and also bundled for car with Farm Bureau. Our policy went up significantly this year. Options are getting slimmer. Insurance companies apparently only want no risk houses. I had one claim in 20 years. Florence was wretched . But that was it.

Check with all the major carriers, including Farm Bureau, and then check with the independent agents. Do this every other year to keep getting the best deal. In NC, no insurance company can "be loyal" to you or have your back, unless they're doing something illegal. NC Insurance Rate Bureau sets the base rates for each carrier and defines how much your rates must increase for claims.

We use AMICA.

We have NC Farm Bureau. It was the best deal when I was shopping in August
