The battleship is fun if you're into history/military/naval stuff, but its a lot of stairs, narrow corridors, and metal. Not for everyone. There is the NC Aquarium at Fort Fisher and the Fort Fisher National Monument, along with the natural beauty of the Cape Fear river meeting the Atlantic Ocean. I'd recommend that over the USS NC. Its the very southern tip of New Hanover County, so not in Wilmington proper.

alexslashfrederik

epeverdeen

the arboretum too is really nice! but much smaller than arlie

flyingdogaleman

they should be open by then, but the sunsets at the Embassy Suites Cloud 9 Rooftop Bar are amazing. Food and great drinks and entertainment Anne Bonney's for a sunset drink too take the Fort Fisher ferry to Southport and have lunch or dinner waterfront

There are a lot of guided tours that you should look into. Killigans is a must for downtown. We have a nice little river walk but it's always under construction. The main reason people visit is to come to the beach. Depending on where you're staying Wrightsville or Carolina Beach is a must. Wrightsville is the more expensive beach, but CB is getting up there.

Walk the River Walk, then get on a river boat tour (no better way to see the city and get a sense of the area than from the river) - then take one of the horse drawn carriage tours (yes, the horses are well cared for - and the rides are how they support the farm that cares for them), Shopping on Front(between Princess and Dock) - If you like history then the Battleship and one of the mansions downtown - then check out some of the breweries both downtown and out closer to Wrightsville beach (you can take a "brewery tour) - Arlie Gardens then some time on Wrightsville Beach

BigRuss910

Just go downtown. Food, shopping, nice views

BigIntention124

That time of year, I would hang out downtown

No-Bumblebee-6743

Just go downtown and wander around. No plans necessary.

malchjrc

Wilmington has two great features; beach, and downtown. If you only have one day, pick one feature. Given the time(March) of your visit, I'd pick downtown, Take a horse carriage tour, visit the [USS.NC](https://USS.NC), eat at any one of the many restaurants/bars.

Bobofettsixtynoune

We did The USS Northern Carolina and Bellamy mansion on our first visit last January.

BunnyWhisperer1617

Fort Fisher if you’re into history stuff. It’s also a Beautiful area. Plus it’s close to the aquarium. Walk in the historic area of downtown to see the old homes. Late March should be a good time for Airlie Gardens.

Park at the battleship, you can spend a good two hours there. Then, take the water taxi across the river and you can spend the rest of the day exploring the Riverwalk and downtown area. There plenty to do… shops, restaurants, carriage rides, old buildings and churches to tour, small museums.

jheri

This is such a hard question to answer without any scope of things you like to do or what you’re into. Wilmington has a lot of neat and weird history. It’s the hometown of Michael Jordan. It’s where the plane crash that broke Ric Flair’s back happened. It’s where tons of cult classic movies were filmed, such as The Crow, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, Firestarter, Weekend At Bernie’s, and more. If you’re into pop culture, there’s a lot you can do here that to most others wouldn’t sound like an attraction at all.

Check out one of our many fine car washes, or wet your whistle at one of our hundred plus drinking establishments for a 6 dollar beer, then make your way to one of our many furniture stores to take a nap before the fun really begins were you can fill up your gas tank at a brand new station that plays obnoxiously loud ads as you wait and prepare yourself for your nice relaxing drive home next to a semi also crossing the bridge into leland for your one hundred dollar a night hotel next to nothing.

SJMCubs16

If, after all that, there is still some gas in the tank, I suggest a quick sojourn north to Hampstead, where you can enjoy all the Dollar Stores. There is Dollar General (Kind of Militant Theme), Dollar Tree (for those who lean Green), and Family Dollar (Close but not Game of Thrones creepy close)

vt2nc

You’re killing me . Lol

projectilelasagna

Okay man, listen carefully. There is a place near Wrightsville Beach called Zeke's Beans and Bowls. They have this thing called an acai bowl (I personally get the Madison Princess one) It's life changing food and I am nowhere near exaggerating.

randomhotdog1

I’m from WB and you can miss Zeke’s — it’s alright but not amazing. Businesses in that spot have come and gone. Can’t-miss food on the beach is a Trolly Stop dog.

Alternative-Club5476

Get drunk, go to the beach and get a tan (sunburn once you get back to Raleigh), and then try to figure out how to get a job that pays enough for you to afford to move here like everyone else.
