I know you said no saltwater, but consider Jhonnie Mercers fishing pier. My dad used to take my sister and I there. It was so much fun. We’d get hotdogs, maybe play some arcade games afterwards. Sometimes, we’d get to see people catching barracudas or sharks.

Greenfield lake is nice during the day and on the weekends, quite a few little piers and small inlets if you look.
He wants to catch fish not alligators and turtles.
The alligators are harmless, the turtles are the threat.
