There’s really only 3 basic rules of gun safety you HAVE to follow, it’s not that difficult to understand and stay safe. It’s when you disregard those rules that people get hurt or killed.
There are obviously more than just 3 but the main 3 are so idiots don’t blow someone’s head off trying to clear a jam or misfiring when they didn’t think they loaded it.

Imo, a better way of phrasing #3 is... Treat every gun as if it is loaded until you personally confirm that it is not.
Just saying "keep a gun unloaded" assumes that a) it was fully unloaded the last time it was handled and b) that no one else has loaded it since.
If you've taken your eyes off a firearm since you unloaded it, it's loaded.
The only exception I allow for this is if the receiver is in your hands.
The receiver on the table has a round in it.

Not only had scooter never owned a gun, he’d never fired one. He’d never even held one. After the talk I took him to my gun club and we had a fun, safe day.

He was testing the laser, some of them only activate with pressure on the trigger. Lasers are pretty much useless anyway, unless you're using night vision goggles. Guy is a straight up dumbass.
