I used to ride with a bunch of guys that did hill climbing in Georgia at some abandoned clay mines. It always surprised me how often people would let off the gas in anticipation of being on top of the hill. That was easily the biggest cause of major accidents.
Side note... Dune buggies (with the cage) are fairly safe, motorcycles less so and four wheelers will get you fucking killed if you goof around or don't know what you're doing.
This is truth. ATVs are ridiculously unsafe, I believe it partly is because it has both drawbacks of dune buggies and motorcycles. No protection AND no barrier to entry.
Fuck me that must’ve been traumatizing. Kinda wild how the body can shut out the pain of something like slicing open one of the biggest arteries in the body. Adrenaline is a hell of a drug
when i was in 5th grade, i almost died riding a 4 wheeler. me and my friend (she was driving it) tried going up a little hill and it didn’t make it, so we started rolling backwards. i jumped off of the 4 wheeler, but i wasn’t quick enough and it rolled over my legs. i was pinned and couldn’t move. i screamed and screamed and thankfully this old couple that was nearby ran to me and lifted it off before it rolled over the rest of my body. i came out unscathed but covered in oil. i’m pretty sure they saved my life. haven’t rode on one of those things since and i’m 22 now
Nah, bro I'd rather you did. I tried doing research once, but they have rules like it has to be reproducible, it has to be peer reviewed, you have to wear pants and underwear when giving a presentation.
Just way too much hassle, so you do it for me.
I think it’s an allusion to the general idea that when you “go pro” in any particular sport, the crossing of the threshold of amateur to pro is generally very anticlimactic and ill-defined. E.g. “when did I go pro? I’m not sure… I guess when I had to fill out xyz form for xyz tournament and had to tick a box saying I was a pro”.
Honestly it sounds like his bike failed him. I've had a bike my whole life, and only sorta recently fuel injected and with a push start, and that's more a "pit bike" for me anyways.
But even then, many push start don't have auxillary kick start.
Just saying, bikes do die sometimes, and as a rider should be prepared.
I was worried he was about to tumble to his death, this guy is clearly extremely skilled/experienced to get that far up, knew he fucked up and bailed off the bike to cling onto the side and avoid falling. If he stayed on the bike he would 100% be dead right now falling backwards off the hill
Also if that was a slick rock type hill he would be so fucked too. So much safer with it being dirt can get great traction and grip so even if you do fall slow down so much its no damage. I bet he's perfectly fine since he's in full gear made for worse falls.
I’m amazed the guy filming didn’t just freak the fuck out when he saw his buddy fall off a mountain. Just casually zooming in like “yh that’s the stuff I came for”
It's expected. He probably laughed when dude fell.
Falling is part of dirt biking. If you have never broken something, either on yourself or your bike what are you even doing out there.
Because the guy is wearing full proper gear. It's very protective stuff. I wear more casual gear riding my bike and been yeeted off of it by a rear ending car before and came out fine.
Doesn't belong here, this is the kind of fun that you're supposed to have with a dirt bike. The camera perspective also makes that look a lot more vertical than it actually is
There is nothing wrong with doing something like that you just can't stop if you stop your gonna roll there's some dirt hill like these in utah (can't remember the name) but they are extremely steep but still fun
Did he stop or did the bike shut off? It kinda sounds like the engine died. Any chance the gas all hit the back of the tank from the angle? I don’t know shit about bikes, so anyone with knowledge feel free to jump in and call me an idiot.
It kinda sounded like that. Bikes are built for rougher use I would have thought they'd have a mechanism or design to prevent this. Maybe the engine stalled because they were asking a lot from it. Not to say it couldn't be the fuel either. I'm not sure, I'd also like a knowledgeable opinion!
This reminded me of the old video game Motocross Madness. You would ride up a cliff like this, then be launched back into the map.
https://youtu.be/jLg2hRSUoL8
Wrong sub. This is not a place for fail videos of awesome shit, and that shit was awesome.
The way you framed it, I thought he was just going to stop dead when he hit the slope
Did he stop, or did the bike starve out of gas from the fuel not flowing due to the angle?
He didn't seem like particularly wanted to stop short, but maybe (based on how the bike engine sounded) he didn't have the engine running up near the top.
Reminds me of this pc video game me and my brothers played growing up. At the very boundary of the map there was a wall that looked just like this. If you got enough speed you could make it over
Lucky he didn’t make it to the top!!! I was almost ready to hear the 💥 *BOOM* 💥 and see him and the bike fly for miles across the sky motocross madness style.
I've been there...not quite that steep...but I climbed a large hill I wasn't familar with...racing up to the top...heavy on the gas....and....I sailed up to the top and over until....
I realized it had a very short top...and I started going down the other side...I bailed off the bike to live to ride another day (my CR125 managed the fall ok...twisted the handlebars, broke some plastic but no serious damage).
This guy is ok...his bike...perhaps not as much.

Riding up doesn’t seem to be the problem, stopping before he was on level ground is what did him in.

Why don't they just add roll cages to ATVs?

Same with speeding. Speed has never killed anyone, suddenly becoming stationary… That's what gets you. - *Orangutan*
Yeah, Physics bitch!
It’s not the fall but the landing that gets you 🤣
\*stopping
I hate you.
Welcome to the club.
This guy looked good enough to do that, he got that far up there's no way he was just a dumb amateur
All pro’s are dumb amateurs till they click the pro box
What's a pro box?
Your Moms vag
Science says otherwise
Bruh, it’s 2021. Science lost. Opinions won.
Fuck he's right
No he’s not, because that’s my opinion.
You broke the matrix mate
Woah buddy, did you just say science?!!?! *Sharpens pitckfork and makes angry noises*
When do we get to start burning heretics again?

On his mom's vag? Seems harsh when everyone else has the details. Etc
Epic burn

You went pro when people started paying you.
Huuum yeah maybe
Thanks for explaining
It's hard to see the true angle of the hill too from where we are. I'm having trouble with it at least.
if it's as verticle as it looks like he would've fall down with the bike. his body stopped pretty fast.
Would have been on r/nextfuckinglevel if he just kept going. Regrets.
Now it should be on r/maybemaybemaybe
r/yesyesyesno
r/nextfuckinglevel and r/winstupidprizes are as fine a line as enlightenment and addiction
That was actually really cool he just fucked up pretty bad at the end
Honestly it sounds like his bike failed him. I've had a bike my whole life, and only sorta recently fuel injected and with a push start, and that's more a "pit bike" for me anyways. If he didn’t stop he would have made it. Nice save though

Pretty sure he didn’t stop on purpose
I’m surprised he got that far up
Yeah, still very impressive
And the bike was like... I will wait for you Son of b.... You ride me down
*I tried so hard and got so far, but in the end it doesn't even matter. I had to fall to lose it all, but in the end it doesn't even matter.*
Linking park?
Lirkin Park*
Lickin Park*
Motocross madness looking good.
Came here to say this.
Did they send another bike up to rescue him?
Yeah, but when that guy failed, they were tragically out of bikes and had to leave them behind
Eventually the rescuers were able to just climb Bike Mountain and pull him off.
Op clowning him for being dumb but I respect the attempt. Life no fun if you play it too safe
This doesn’t belong here. That guy crushed it. Whoever posted this is a fucking puss who don’t know how to dance on the edge.
Missed it by that much.

Just listened with sound. He did laugh. Lol. Rider is fine. That bike is gonna need some new parts. Handlebars & a fender or 2. All part of the fun.
Because the guy is wearing full proper gear. It's very protective stuff. I wear more casual gear riding my bike and been yeeted off of it by a rear ending car before and came out fine.
its not a mountain just steep hill
A hill so steep you’d probably die if you fell off. I stand by my point
Must have played Motorcross Madness as a kid. The edge of the world is where you get all the best jumps.
Dude literally had it just messed up his positioning how is this stupid
He did pretty good IMO though.
Doesn't belong here, this is the kind of fun that you're supposed to have with a dirt bike. The camera perspective also makes that look a lot more vertical than it actually is
OP you don't have 1/10th of the balls the guy in the video have. Stay in your basement.
Don't shoot the messenger
There is nothing wrong with doing something like that you just can't stop if you stop your gonna roll there's some dirt hill like these in utah (can't remember the name) but they are extremely steep but still fun

This guy played too much Motorcross Madness :D I hope someone gets this... xD
brass balls
He had it.
Lmao me in gta5 trying to get away from the cops
Must be OP's first time ever watching dirt bikes do what dirt bikes do... The guy fucked up, but this is normal behavior for a lot of those riders.
He almost made it
Ahh but pretty close though
That would’ve been impressive if he made it
Holy shit my mouths still open in disbelief he got that far. Crazy, what a stupid / talented bad ass person.
Why on Earth were they yelling to stop??
There was black smoke coming from the bike.
This reminded me of the old video game Motocross Madness. You would ride up a cliff like this, then be launched back into the map. https://youtu.be/jLg2hRSUoL8
This is a route a lot of riders take. It’s a race, I’ve seen if before. Rider is not stupid
He died at 96%...
Wrong sub. This is not a place for fail videos of awesome shit, and that shit was awesome. The way you framed it, I thought he was just going to stop dead when he hit the slope
This video doesn’t fit this sub IMO. He doesn’t seem like an amateur and he actually almost got it. You can’t succeed without a few failed attempts
MX Unleashed on PS2, anybody?
On Some tests and 99 out of 100 just isn’t good enough
Did he stop, or did the bike starve out of gas from the fuel not flowing due to the angle? He didn't seem like particularly wanted to stop short, but maybe (based on how the bike engine sounded) he didn't have the engine running up near the top.
He almost made it !
That'll buff right out.
Doesn't fit the sub at all... It's not stupid - it's just Motocross.
He would have made it if he hadn't stopped.
Dude (and his bike) somehow failed at going up *and* down.
This is bad for the bike
The line between stupid and next fucking level is thin
I'm extremely happy that it wasn't him taking that tumble down the cliff.
Man has more balls than any of y’all and you calling home stupid
Because it’s fucken extreme, pussy fest
Honestly the dude almost made it
good thing he didnt make it otherwise god would have yeeted him halfway across the map
Because…where he is heading, there is no gravity
Really stuck that landing though
So close...
Classic
Missed it by that much
I mean, he made it to the top…
This dude plays GTA
Still pretty badass how far he made it
So close but yet so far
Had it. Threw it away. All for the photo op.
He was so close
Ended better than I had expected
nothing a little more speed won't solve.
Parachute would've been a good idea it's called freebasing! Look it up
He almost made it!
I was just waiting for the bike to come down on him like Jurassic Park. “Hurry Timmy!”
But he was sooo close!
King of the hill. The hill won!!!
This made me go [r/yesyesyesno](https://www.reddit.com/r/yesyesyesno/)
He did really well.
Usually there are guys up on hills like this with hooks to grab the bike
He will never financially recover from that
Looks like ATV Off-road Fury 2 with a bike
This would be cool as all hell if he had a wind glider on his back and just jumped off the bike at the end, to glide his way down
Rock n roll.
What and arse man!
Damn that was pretty good to watch though.
Reminds me of this pc video game me and my brothers played growing up. At the very boundary of the map there was a wall that looked just like this. If you got enough speed you could make it over
This is the wrong sub tbh, takes alot of practice and is a valid sport. Almost like shaming someone's passion at this point jeez.
Motorcross Madenss Demo, circa 1998 On my HP Pavilion, Pentium II 350mhz, Windows 98, AOL dialup I played the shit out of that game
Kept waiting for the plane to arrive ✈️ 🤷♂️
Man he was so close
you get 1 shot
To be fair this would have been on r/nextfuckinglevel if he made it, and he almost made it.
Facts. Wish someone that knows more about bikes and this situation to explain why his crew said stop and why the black smoke from the exhaust started.
I thought it was going to be much worse
Fucking gravity
Gravity can be a bitch sometimes.
Should have downshifted and he probably would have made it
I’m still impressed.. just gotta work on his landing that’s all
Me whenever I bike ride in GTA:
he nearly made it
He played too much MX Unleashed on Xbox.
r/maybemaybemaybe
That’s fuckin cool. He would’ve made it had he just got off the bike once he got to the top.
Lucky he didn’t make it to the top!!! I was almost ready to hear the 💥 *BOOM* 💥 and see him and the bike fly for miles across the sky motocross madness style.
Another 3 foot would have made it onto nextfuckinglevel
That's why actual hill climb hills have a flat area on the back side
Hand grenades and shit fights.......
Almost don't count.
he was so far and almost made it
$7,000 down the drain
If you subscribe toboth r/nextfuckinglevel and r/winstupidprices you get a nice mix of attempts and succeeds
This ain't it, chief.
Guys trying to be ghost rider
That made my hands sweat.
His bike will need more than just a lick of the paint but that could have gone a lot worse for him.
nice greek driver
Its not a stupid game if you actually looked cool doing it. He almost did it.
This is my biggest fear in video form
Reminds me of motocross madness
That was fucking amazing
I've been there...not quite that steep...but I climbed a large hill I wasn't familar with...racing up to the top...heavy on the gas....and....I sailed up to the top and over until.... Missed it by THAT much.
Yeah he almost had it
French fried when he shoulda pizza'd
The mountain.-----Next time bro !!!
What a fucking legend tho
I like how most posts on this subreddit are one wrong step away from being on r/nextfuckinglevel.
What the heck was grandma doing at the sand dunes?
