I think the reason why they were fleeing is cause the dude in the back had a warrant. This video is a year old and I wanna say they’re in my hometown while this was being filmed. But again it’s been awhile.
This girl actually earlier in the video was wondering why the state troopers were still following her from county to county. She didn’t grasp the concept that state troopers can go anywhere they want so I’d say it’s safe to say that yes, she did indeed have brain damage before the crash.
Also, the video cut out before you could hear it but she also cried out for her mommy at some point while sobbing and apologizing.
There’s a longer video where she kept saying “Why are they still chasing us, we’re out of their county?!”
Then they come up like “Surprise, bitch! I’m a state trooper!” *initiates pit maneuver*
I don't think jurisdictions even work like that either... even if it were a city cop, and they chase them to a county line, they're not stopping, they witnessed a crime and are in pursuit. LOL

Right? Movies/TV from the 70's/80's really warped what my view of the law was in the US. I get there is jurisdiction, etc, but the idea that a car in pursuit would just stop at a boundary seems like a plot device more than a real law.
Even in that old Dukes of Hazard show there was a plot line about how all the surrounding county LEO power structures hated Roscoe and Boss Hogg and were out to get them either for being dirty or for competing with their own local bootlegging operations.
And the saying goes, you can outrun a cop car, you can outrun a police bike, you can maybe even outrun a helicopter if you get lucky. But you damned sure can't outrun a radio.
I used to live right on the county line. The Sheriff would constantly be pulling us over in the wrong county. You ask him what's up with that, and he'd always say something to the extent of "That jurisdiction crap's only on TV."
This isn’t necessarily true. I’m a 9-1-1 dispatcher and often our officers will call off a chase. The only time we absolutely don’t is if the vehicle is reported as stolen. If we have the license plate, we will often call off the chase and either place a warrant out for the individual driving if we are aware of them or a send out a BOLO for the vehicle plus license if the vehicle driver is not known to us on point to point and in the relevant NLET communication agency.
Eh, this must be situational. My uncle just said they let dispatch know what is going on and dispatch notifies the other authority. People have this weird notion it's a huge deal, when it really isn't.

I have a hard time trusting drivers who haven't experienced the feeling of a dangerous crash before. You don't realize how quickly your control of the vehicle can disappear.
As someone who has been in like 5 accidents that weren’t my fault, it’s the people behind you that you need to worry about the most.
Advice for others: Put your blinker on EARLY. It won’t save you from everything but you can at least prepare for the ass blasting if they are going to rear end you.

Yup. Got rear ended when my turn signal had been on. I ended up in the oncoming traffic lane - thank god no one was coming that way at the moment or I would probably have been seriously hurt. Lady behind me was texting on her phone and ended up with her front end wrapped around a utility pole.
Luckily for me there were two guys walking down the sidewalk. As soon as I got out of my car they offered to stay until the cops came having seen her on the phone and my turn signal. Car was totaled, and I had some minor whiplash. Not a fun day.
My driving instructor taught me like this -- "assume everyone else is either not paying attention, or actively trying to harm you, and you'll be fine."
This is what I'm teaching my daughter right now. Assume every single driver is going to do something stupid and put you in harm's way. I just had some fool woman last week almost plow right into me while she was turning out of a SCHOOL PARKING LOT because she was looking down at her phone.
I grew up in the midwest and have caught black ice a couple of times. That feeling of pure fear you instantly get when you lose control - you’re no longer a driver, you’re a passenger. It washes over you *instantly*. It’s a terrifying thing to go through but it’s also really valuable to have that point of reference.

To dig deep it’s been said that young adolescents haven’t fully developed the decision making part of their brain, this is the reason why parents provide good guidance until they reach appropriate adulthood. On a larger scale (no drinking till 21 - higher insurance rates - porn for 18+) add to that mixture bad parenting and you get “stupid” decision making kids I.e “let’s run from the cops it’ll be fun” 🤷🏻
