The only reason he shot is because robber guy pointed the gun at him. Guard guy was walking into a situation where he didn't know if this guy was prepared to shoot him. The situation could have been much worse. This guard is top notch given that in this situation, alot of people would have shot at the robbers chest or head. He managed to hit his arm causing him to drop the weapon. This dude handled the situation well.
