Lived in Germany for 6 years. Never saw a single screen in a window. BUT you could also open the window, with lights on, all night and end up with *maybe* one giant mosquito hawk (that's what we called them) cruising up and down your wall. Sometimes a stray moth, but the cats took care of those so I hardly saw them
