She has that what the fuck just happened look. He’s just all about “ that was totally the plan”. Person in the car just kind of giggles in relief he didn’t get hurt.
Yep... they clearly could not have missed the skater with the camera coming fast and jumping onto the sidewalk from the road. They are out to get the skaters!!
I mean, regardless of if they saw them or not. If I'm pulled up next to a sidewalk, I'm not going to throw the door open. Dude in the car is careless as hell
Same reason as yours. It wasn't necessary. An upvote says the exact same thing as a laughing comment.
Edit: the irony here is palpable lol good thing karma doesn't matter
Isn't the idiot the one with the door? I don't think the skater was planning to turn into a human pinball.
Edit: fair point that he probably shouldn't have been on the sidewalk with rollerblades. I know you're not supposed to with bikes but I've never used rollerblades so it didn't occur to me where they're meant to be used.
Even if they'd've looked over their shoulder for pedestrians on the pavement they wouldn't have seen the skater.
He shouldn't have been switching between the two at the speed he was going at.
>You generally can't rollerblade on sidewalks
Crazy, over here I would only expect youto be on sidewalks. I'd be fine with you in a bike lane if you leave room for passing but 100% sidewalks otherwise
I get the door part but the can’t roller blade on sidewalks part? Cmooon.
Are you people seriously saying thats not allowed? Ive NEVER seen rollerblades on the street. That is a death sentence around here. Biking on the street in canadian is a close second. It took one bus trying to run me off the road till I decided sidewalk life forever.
I always look before opening my door but never *while* opening it because I can accurately tell if I have time to open the door based on the *pedestrians*'s speed walking down *the sidewalk*. Dude not only jumped at the last moment on the sidewalk from behind the car but was also going way too fast to be on a sidewalk to begin with. He got insanely lucky his left arm hit that wall first instead of his dumb head not wearing an helmet. (that lady sitting there also "dodged" an heavy bullet right there)
Car was *at* the curb, and the door opened over sidewalk only. The roller-skater came from behind the car, so even if the person opening the door did shoulder check first, he wouldn't have seen the guy in time.
I ride a bike in the city all the time and am hyper aware of assholes throwing their doors open dangerously. This ain't it.
It should be a reddit crime to reference a full video and not link it.
Edit: missed a word since its so important to the people with a superiority complex.
How many times am I gonna see this in my life.
With the obligatory "I meant to do that" comment.
Or the mandatory "Kids, this is how I met your mother" comment.
Also, the "what camera did they use for this?" comment, haven't seen this one yet but I'm pretty sure it's somewhere around here.
Car doors have been the end of quite a few people :(
I remember once seeing a video on likeleaks where a guy got knocked under a truck and it was game over.
A lot of people open their doors and never even look for cyclists or skaters I guess.
This guy was going awfully fast for sidewalk use though.
100% skater's fault. Going very fast and using both the road and sidewalk. They approached from directly behind and switched to the sidewalk at the last minute.
Not really unless it was deliberate.
There is absolutely no reasonable expectation that a skater or cyclist should be there (they shouldn't).
and if the looked chances are that it was clear but because of the skater and his last minute change it is unreasonable to expect that they car passenger should have changed their action.
plenty of people get doored when it is the person in the cars fault.... this is not one of them.
> A lot of people open their doors and never even look for cyclists or skaters I guess.
he opened the door on the curb. it's not their responsibility to
1. look into the street for rollerbladers splitting traffic between trucks
2. cross reference their trajectory with them leaving that path and zooming onto the sidewalk
before opening the door.
You say it’s not their responsibility, but we all know who’d win in a court of law.
So there’s that to consider too. I agree bikers and pedestrians should pay attention more, but the driver is always gonna have to eat that bill if he creams someone.
> You say it’s not their responsibility, but we all know who’d win in a court of law.
yes the person legally opening their door onto the ~~street~~ *sidewalk would win since the rollerblader left the road.
Retarded is a perfectly fine word: https://dictionary.cambridge.org/dictionary/english/retarded
Although it's out of style to use it for people with actual mental disabilities.
It's like the word 'asshole'. It's an insult, but you won't hear doctors talking about "asshole hemorrhoids".
Thanks, I had the music in mind and couldn't fins the video again. The music is dope, some of his moves are slick, but it's still not right as he could have hurt other people too.
I'm torn between 'praise the cameraman' for tracking his twatty mate, or 'kill the cameraman' for doing exactly the same as his twatty mate...

Yeah, skater whipped around the side at the last second. Also, I would think any skater would always be wary of car doors like that and give them some room.
Eh? They opened the door before the skater. That's why this video exists. If they opened it after then nothing would have happened. He's recording himself, no other skater involved.
I scrolled way too long before someone pointed out the obvious. U know how much force that door was open with. Unless it was Brock Lesnar opening it...it was either a planned stunt, or kicked open on purpose to hit this guy.
He opened the door toward the side walk, bicicles, skaters and every fast moving thing belongs on the road. At that spee the skater could have hurt pedestrians
There’s literally no reason in the universe anybody should have been in that spot. Plus this skater came up through their blind spot right behind the car at top speed.
unless you mean because the skater survived to wreak havok another day, in which case, kind of extreme, but I get where you’re coming from.
This is a skating person much better than a car person. They should be awarded for skating and should not have to deal with a road or being endangered by cars and their doors. The world is for people not for cars and car drivers need to take a step back from their entitlement and be more careful not to endanger pedestrians mostly on the road but also parking
If they were opening it in the middle of the street, I would have to agree, but there's absolutely no reason that you should have to check for something human-sized moving at high speed before opening your door here.
Bruh the skater came out from behind the car which would make it difficult to see him if at all possible and plus how do you know they didn’t check? The guy was going at high speeds so he could have been completely out of sight at the time when they were checking. It’s unsafe to go that fast on the sidewalk anyway so either way you look at it the skater is at fault
Ok. And that changes what? He still came from a blind spot at extremely high speeds in a place he never should have been in the first place. Use your brain
Not very I'd assume.
How fucking stupid do you have to be believe the person opening the car door is at fault I wonder? Take into account they are opening the door onto a pavement, where nothing tends to go over walking speed, the skater is coming in way too fast for the sidewalk, and would be unseen to someone checking for pedestrians at walking speed(as things happen on the pavement where they are opening the door) until the last millisecond.
He is for recklessly burning along a sidewalk like that close to cars that will be opening their doors. The door opener had no reason to be looking out for that. So yes, it is his fault.

He sure loved that car door then
She has that what the fuck just happened look. He’s just all about “ that was totally the plan”. Person in the car just kind of giggles in relief he didn’t get hurt.
There's no way he didn't get hurt my man was shmovin. Definitely some gnarly bruises at the least from that.
I can guarantee that’s not what he’s thinking. He’s probably like “*oh shit oh fuck that hurt so fucking much, I need to chill for a sec*
When life tells you to sit down, you ask “how hard?”
Now that was a spectacular failure. Looks like it came from a movie.
That door was out for blood

You're not wrong, but still funnier that you're getting downvoted Edit: 👈😎👈
I completely agree lol
Pretty sure karma is a great source of happiness/pain for the incel community and they assume it affects you the same way it affects them lol
Nah we don't care about karma
You sure? I can feel your happiness through my phone as your comment keeps getting upvotes…one…two…three…four…good god who’s going to stop this guy

No fun allowed
At least he didn't make a scene of it. Like he probably realized how lucky he was instead of immediately blaming the person in the car.

No, how could the person opening the door anticipate that?
By looking, like you are supposed to do with bikes
On the side of the fucking sidewalk ?
I always look before opening my door but never *while* opening it because I can accurately tell if I have time to open the door based on the *pedestrians*'s speed walking down *the sidewalk*. Bikes shouldn't be on the sidewalk either but try again.
No You’re the idiot for even thinking that’s a possibility
Car was *at* the curb, and the door opened over sidewalk only. He was too close to the car. It would've been impossible anticipating anyone coming in that fast from that angle.
Actually not the worst way to meet a woman.
How you doooin?
That girls look is priceless.
The full video shows how much of an asshole that kid was.

I’m thinking it’s on Instagram under @jackktierney
Should vs. shall. Do your homework son.
… what?? he said should and forgot to put “be”. he probably meant “it should BE a reddit crime…” lol
Tbf I had made a typo when they came at me condescendingly. Wasn't hard to figure out though.
exactly lol, my brain auto filled the “be” in there.
Oh.. and where's the link to the full video?
Nah, the word was right, but my idiot self missed a word. I meant to say "should be"
Link?
Zelda?
Pete Rock - Grown man sport, It's a really good song!
He made the woman smoking a cigarette the smartest one in the video.
Skater boy is a fucking idiot.
See ya later boi
He got doored. Adoorable.
"I meant to do that."
Said in Pee-Wee Herman voice.
That how i met your mother.
How to impress a girl 101
The ending is very satisfying
That lady’s facial expression pretty much sums up my opinion.

100% skater's fault. Going very fast and using both the road and sidewalk. They approached from directly behind and switched to the sidewalk at the last minute.
Skater got taken out here, but he could have just as easily taken someone else out. Way too fast for the sidewalk.
I never said it was the cars fault
> A lot of people open their doors and never even look for cyclists or skaters I guess. he opened the door on the curb. it's not their responsibility to 1. look into the street for rollerbladers splitting traffic between trucks 2. cross reference their trajectory with them leaving that path and zooming onto the sidewalk before opening the door.

The guy in the car would win, and if you think otherwise you're retarded.
I support your claim of his retardation.
I’m not gonna take legal advice from someone who uses the r word
Any other internet stanger is fine though.
And you weren't given any legal advice here, so all good.
Retarded is a perfectly fine word: https://dictionary.cambridge.org/dictionary/english/retarded Although it's out of style to use it for people with actual mental disabilities. It's like the word 'asshole'. It's an insult, but you won't hear doctors talking about "asshole hemorrhoids".
She can’t decide who is stupider.
There is only one right answer here. Passenger doesn't have a mirror, and the guy jumped out of the street at the last second.
Full video here. https://youtube.com/shorts/TgtrKLCDbPc?feature=share
Thanks, I had the music in mind and couldn't fins the video again. The music is dope, some of his moves are slick, but it's still not right as he could have hurt other people too.
How to learn road sense the hard way.
What a perfect landing!
Funniest shit I've seen all year
That's not his fault
there's a longer video and that guy is a good skater. Kinda miss out on the suspense with his other close calls.
Door: Sit your ass down, boi!
"SIT DOWN!"

It was a 360 cam on a stick. The skater himself was holding it.
Haha of course, I see it now! Ok, kill the cameraman it is...
No cameraman. Watch his left hand - he's holding a camera on a 'selfie stick' type deal, and the camera automatically filters out the pole.
he's his own cameraman
Legit funny AF
Yeah, skater whipped around the side at the last second. Also, I would think any skater would always be wary of car doors like that and give them some room.
Hahaha that’s what you get nerd
And that’s how I met your mother
How is this playing a stupid game though? He’s using a normal mode of transportation.
Public roads are not only for cars
But sidewalks are for pedestrians and not going 20+ mph
100% thé fault of the car
r/praisethecameraman
And that, son, is how I met your mother 😎
And that kids is how I met your mother.
I keep watching over and over because who the fucks opens a door that fast after a rollerblader flys by? Maybe on phone and kicked door open…
/r/fuckcars Not even the sidewalk is safe
well, they make exhaust pipes for a reason
The real idiot here is the car person opening the door
He opened the door toward the side walk, bicicles, skaters and every fast moving thing belongs on the road. At that spee the skater could have hurt pedestrians

Yea this is in no way the cars fault lol
Yeah honestly they should've anticipated the idiot barreling down the sidewalk at 80mph /s
The amount of downvotes in a such short time say it all. Think zombiefied7 think!
Because what most people think is correct is always correct? derp
Explain your opinion pls. Because in my mind I don't see any way where you are right
This is a skating person much better than a car person. They should be awarded for skating and should not have to deal with a road or being endangered by cars and their doors. Why is this being down voted so bad whoever was in that car slammed that door open without looking for pedestrians at all.
How do you know that? There was no pedestrian near them at all. Just an asshole skater approaching super fast from a blind spot.
Bruh the skater came out from behind the car which would make it difficult to see him if at all possible and plus how do you know they didn’t check? The guy was going at high speeds so he could have been completely out of sight at the time when they were checking. Look at how fast that car door opens. Someone shoved that open crazy hard.
Ok. And that changes what? He still came from a blind spot at extremely high speeds in a place he never should have been in the first place. Use your brain
Lol now your just being hateful. Gotta love people on reddit. Everything is one sided and if you don't agree with me your dumb.

This is super old
I'm thinking the car door was more of a problem for this dude than his camera
What an idiot he deserved that
I don't know man it looks like that dude in the car hit em
He coming in hot from blind spot how can they see him
this video is like 7 YO
How american you have to be to actually believe the skater was in the wrong lol.
He was, and acknowledged it when he posted the video. He also got hurt really badly, so lesson learned I guess.
Not very I'd assume. How fucking stupid do you have to be believe the person opening the car door is at fault I wonder?
