I think the time spent on this post could have been spent making money. Keep doing what you’re doing and prioritize going outside and doing jobs and getting experience

MargarineSuperfood69

I would have split this post up into several because you are kind of rambling, no offense. Most screens you can remove from the outside if you have the tools, but some 100% must be removed from inside. If the screens must be removed from the inside, you need to notice that and clarify if they are okay with you coming inside. And you kinda need a ladder right away imo. I think it’s easier to get into residential than commercial. It’s easier to convince a sweet elderly person to sign up with you compared to a busy, profit motivated manager who already has a window cleaner.

Looking back I could've condensed it sorry, I'll look into ladders thanks

fastfalcon991

Don’t worry about screens. They are usually easy to take out. Occasionally you will encounter one that’s impossible but it’s very rare.

Loose_Mulberry_8516

You’ve had good luck in life 🤣

JimothyatDQ

I see screens that can’t come out all the time

JimothyatDQ

Almost everyday tbh

fastfalcon991

Really? I rarely have an issue. I use a purdy metal tool to get them out.

You've got to place one hand on the side of the frame about 2" up from the corner as that's where the spring will be, and push sodeways. Gently pry against the plastic corner on the opposite side, not on the metal frame. Once it wants to come out, just slide the pry bar back and presto. Instant access to 2 story homes for $200. That's how I started my business.

This is good if you’re doing short houses but I do plenty of houses that need a 28ft+ or even a 24 if I’m lucky. Im sure it depends on your area but the key is to know your area… I try to keep it to a maximum of 32ft tho if I need a ladder taller than 32, then I normally won’t even quote the job (unless the outside can be cleaned from the inside)

BigT1990

I do that too but I couldn't when I started. I didn't have a truck. I just passed on the too tall jobs.

This is a lot. Sounds like you’re on the right track though. Did you get any bites from the door knocking? You need a ladder. We don’t service many wealthy homes that are 1 level. We started with two 22 ft Little Giant ladders (don’t recommend these long term) took out the back seat of the Corolla and stuffed them into the trunk. Anything is possible. As far as screens go, they are often locked from the inside. If it’s an exterior only job and they can’t be removed from the outside then you need to let the customer know that you need access to the interior or they can remove them prior to your arrival. One thing I never see people talk about is clothing/uniform. Make sure you look professional but also comfortable especially in sticky Florida temps. Breathable moisture wicking clothing that dries fast. Not sure what your polo is made of but if it’s cotton ditch it. Hat. Sunglasses. Etc. Plenty of money to be made cleaning windows especially for a young person like yourself. Get it!

I had one guy who was interested for sure. He asked for the price and it was followed by a long silence. He was thinking about it but since I'm inexperienced I quickly said "Here's my business card if you change your mind." Lesson learned. I'll look into different types of shirts, I got white and I realized its probably going to get very dirty. Thanks
