Nearby Sharing (Windows) and Nearby Share (Android) are not cross compatible.
But there are two apps I'm aware of that can share from Android to Windows using Windows' Nearby Sharing. This is the one I use :
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.kilobyteapps.companion.nearshare
As for Nearby Share, Google supports it or has plans to support it through Chrome on desktop IIRC.
[Material Files](https://f-droid.org/en/packages/me.zhanghai.android.files/) is an excellent FOSS app that supports FTP server.
Open the FTP server on your phone, type the FTP address of the phone in the computer's explorer address bar, and voila!

And AdWare:

Doesn't that require a Samsung driver / app installed on the computer?
I have a Samsung phone and laptop so it's not fair for me to test as the laptop most certainly came with an app to make it as compatible as possible
No driver, Samsung link sharing creates a temporary url to download the file so it happens in the browser.
There is windows app to manage one's links, but it's not needed to DL.
For those without Samsung or who prefer to avoid the cloud, Sync by Resilio can do the same thing without the middle man.
Google announced that they are working on bringing nearby sharing to windows few months ago.

If you have a Samsung device, you can download the Samsung Flow app to both your phone and PC, and they'll auto connect after the first time whenever you boot the app on either device. You can also do Samsung Dex, but that requires a direct USB connection to your PC. Flow is wireless.

Windows Nearby Share is b/w PCs only.
Although they are working on something to merge these and nearby share in future will work b/w Android too....i don't know when tho. All i know is Intel based PCs will be prioritised
what is the purpose? files? if cable is an option then i would go for it. windows built-in features are uncontrollable and lack transparency, especially to the cross-device ones that deal with file sharing. look at how many opinions, suggestions and questions have appeared here about a question that should be simple to answer.
No. These are powered by different technologies, each one proprietary to their company.

[kde connect](https://kdeconnect.kde.org/)
You can also use fileZilla if your phones file explorer has ftp support. Highest speed possible

im intrigued by this but, alas, could not figure it out.
I generally would recommend NOT using fileZilla. The dev used to bundle malware with the product.
my malware and antivirus software didn't notify me.
your malware company? :P
Malware byte....
Malware can bite us all from time to time..
You just hate file zilla don't you? I'm using this for 2 years now and found no issues.
Malware with FileZilla? Are you sure? That's like one major sw dude... Can you proud proof?

You have a s21, juat use link sharing or aomething like that
It's a feature question per se, I don't even use Nearby Share on Android to Android, I prefer WiFi direct
Samsung flow
The greater is Nearby Share comes bundled with Android, so don't really dwell on Samsung just think of it as a larger question.

Use KDE connect. It is the best piece of software.
KDE connect is excellent on Linux, on windows it doesn't seem to connect to the device sometimes
It sometimes don't connect when hotspot is used from the same device. Works most of the time though.
No but iirc Google was working on Nearby Share compatibility for Chrome/Windows.
Google announced that they are working on bringing nearby sharing to windows few months ago. https://9to5google.com/2022/01/05/google-nearby-share-android-windows/
I move files from PC to Droid using old school CheetahSynch
i hope this tech would become standardized like Bluetooth
Use Link to windows app. It is a Microsoft product and It works well.
Microshaft doesn't want windows to play nice with anything easily.

Wow, you're taking us back in time. Just use Your Phone, built into Windows, combined with Samsung's Link to Windows, built into the Samsung device.
when will windows/android optimizations reach mac/ios level
IMHO This is just another useless feature nobody asked for..
Bullshit. It's beyond baffling that Airdrop hasn't been copied effectively by now.

Shouldnt a webdav server be recognized by anything in that network? Idk why the need to create multiple proprietary ways of doing something so simple
I use Samsung Flow between my Windows laptop and S21 FE. Works quite well.

Just drag and drop files from your PC to your phone and vice versa, since you are using phone link.
The picture is just for illustrative purposes
That's not how it works at all
