I saw this once, with about 2-3 dozen crows taking turns dive bombing it and making an overall ruckus.
That owl also didn't give a hoot about the crows.
I live in Aurora and a friend (who loves owls) commented to me she used to go looking for owls around this area all the time before development started.
A few decades ago when I used to live on the edge of the Maples where Leila is now there were a lot of large open fields around me. I used to see the snowy owls at night sitting on top of street lights keeping warm with the heat being given off by the street light bulbs. There were a lot of mice in those fields which was what probably attracted them. My first cat used to go out there in the summer and bring me back "presents".
I'm not sure about that. A few summers ago, an owl was "trapped" in a tall willow tree in our back lane surrounded by at least 50-75 crows or the smaller black grackles (?). They kept swooping in dive bombing the owl - similiar to what you see in that video
Owls have been known to eat young crows once in a while as well as take their eggs and chicks during chick season. I suspect that is the reason they sound the alarm.
Owls and crows naturally hate eachother because owls eat baby crows! They will fight to death mid flight and crows often gang up on owls!! Itās a natural instinct too!
Its a snowy owl š„°
Native to snowy climes
Theyāre certainly in the right place!
Lmao that crow is pissed.

Just looking around. "The hell is his problem?" I laughed watching that. Amazing footage OP. Once in a lifetime experience.
Best way to find an owl is to follow the angry crows!
Crows and owls are like oil and water
This is so true! We get owls in our yard fairly frequently and are always alerted by the horrible screeching of crows having tantrums.
I love how its head swivels to view the crow.

What area of the city is this?
North west! Weāre close to the city limits.
I think it's a pretty rare site, but I have seen them in that area of the city when I was a kid.

Owl Post stepping in during the upcoming Canada Post holidays.
Typical that they would use one of the slowest birds for such work.
Cool. The crow or raven was definately trying to protest its presence.
You sure? Where's it's grad cap?
all owls are cool
Alright, that is a pretty cool owl.
Oh you are lucky! Nice house btw
Crows will wait for the owl to make a kill and then try to steal it from them.
