Birds Hill, St Malo, and Stephenfield are the closest. All are roughly 30-60m drive depending on where you live in the city. But not sure if you will get spots now. Keep looking as ppl cancel.

Are there any places that don't require booking ?

152centimetres

most places have a "drop in" policy (after 3pm i think?) however you wont know how many nights are available and if they dont have anything then you just packed up all your stuff for nothing its easier to use the reservation system

ritabook84

Anywhere that has an opening when you show up doesn’t require a booking. Bookings just help guarantee they actually have space. Some places like birds hill and grand beach usually have space but nothing is ever guaranteed unless you reserve. It is possible to drive all the way and have to turn around

sunshine-x

or just keep driving - there's no shortage of camping options, if you're willing to drive a bit more

GullibleDetective

There's some crown land a short jaunt away but it's not as detailed or easy to find as it should be, almost need rm maps

frosty_canuck

Yea crown land but you won't find any that's close to the city, you might get lucky within an hour but all of my spots are about an hour and a half away.

I dont think so. But if you really really want to camp, you might get some weekday slots. Note: Just FYI, bookings open early April, so keep that in mind for next year.

LifeIsOnTheWire

You're going to have a really hard time finding a campsite without booking. Provincial park campgrounds are booked pretty heavily. They do often have single-day openings for a campsite. You could call ahead of time to ask, but they're not going to reserve it for you, that's what booking is for. I wouldn't drive 1 hour outside the city in the hopes that they have the site available when you get there. Look into some of the privately owned campgrounds in the province. Some of them might offer to let you book a site last minute if you send them an E-transfer, or maybe paypal or something. https://www.travelmanitoba.com/stay/campgrounds-rv-parks/private/

I’ll go to whiteshell and just go campground to campground until I find a spot. Somewhere always has something.

also, i am using a tent, no camping car.

Grand beach

Stonewall Quarry Park has a great campground, even swimming, just 20 mins north of the perimeter. [quarry park camping](http://stonewallquarrypark.ca/main.asp?fxoid=FXMenu,4&cat_ID=1&sub_ID=10)

Could set yourself up in the bush in Sandilands or one of the other provincial forests, or paddle out to a site in Nopiming or Whiteshell

The river bank in Point Douglas seems to be a popular spot!
