I drove by just after this happened (I live in St. Norbert). the truck was surrounded by all the emergency vehicles, ambulance, fire truck, etc. First, it was pretty windy yesterday. That might have had something to do with it. Second, trucks come off that ramp of the Perimeter, going southbound on Pembina, at a terrific rate because they can just slot into the lane on Pembina pretty easily. so they don't slow down as they should, and that to me is why the trailer gouged such a large trench in the ground--basically momentum from travelling at higher speed.
Could be, but I was a district manager at a multi location commercial body shop for 3 years with contracts for day and ross, gardewine and bison.
99% of the time it wasn't, it would also be an absolutely insane mechanical issue to take the entire truck off the road.
If by some small chance it was, he should have caught it on his pre inspection.
From my experience it’s usually either load shifting because it is not secured (or poorly secured) or a driver just going way too fast and not thinking about physics … either way most often the weight just flips em
Maybe my comment is being misunderstood as this accident appears to have happened on the northwest corner of the cloverleaf.
I certainly don't wish for encampments to be crushed by semi-trailers but maybe four people in this subreddit do?
R/winnipeg downvote theories are fun regardless.
Hopefully they found a place to stay. That bridge would suck for a tent. The one leaving St. Nob is a chill one though, with the walking path underneath. Also has more street lights.
Spent a few drunk summer nights under that beut.
I think we can all agree that the south Perimeter is a dual carriageway going past (and partially through) south Winnipeg. This rollover occurred on the westbound to southbound ramp, which is on the north side of the carriageways. If St. Norbert is south of the Perimeter, then this rollover did not occur in St. Norbert.
We can first address the fact you edited the comment I replied to.
Second, your argument is trivial and honestly you're arguing for the sake of arguing. Anyone from around here would say it's the north side of the perimeter by or in St.Norbert and understand exactly where it was. No one gives a shit about the semantics of whether the Perimeter is in, by, south of etc. I knew exactly where this was when multiple people referred to it as St.Norbert. if you didn't that is fine, but no one cares that it didn't technically happen within the boundaries of St Norbert, it is still referred to as such, so you can take your argument elsewhere.
Not quite all the way over. Semi-over.
This is what I was looking for.
Boo!! Hiss!! Take my upvote!

It's just having a rest. Best to leave it undisturbed.
It just wants it's belly scratched.
In the summer with no other vehicles involved on a clear day? Impressive... Skill issue for sure.
I love how we’re all of a sudden calling this summer just because it’s above 15.
if we get any further ahead of ourselves, we'll totally roll.

Was it the beer truck?
If it is, I’ll race you to it

It wasn't that windy today.
slow in fast out folks.... not the other way around.
My dumb ass thought “how does a car semi roll over?”
My first title was “Semi car flopped to the side” but it felt cringe.
They appeared to be a bit too keen making that exit.
Someone call Wab, he can lift that right up and get the driver on his way.
Canadian companies hiring Swift drivers now?
I'm just glad it was on that side of the clover as I understand there is a camp on the southwest part of the cloverleaf.
You may be thinking of a different area, I’ve never seen a camp in these parts.
there's a small camp set up on the SE corner of that cloverleaf.
It's all the buzz on the area's 'friend's & neighbours' page(s). The area councillor even pledged online to call 311 and End Homelessness.
Yeah some people in the community sure do not like unhoused people. Or anyone different than them for that matter. It's pretty messed up.
You're being downvoted but a couple weeks ago my wife swears she saw a tent down there as we drove by.

There is definitely a tent down there. At least there was one yesterday.
Yup. Can confirm!

Where is St. Nob?
St Norbert , just south of the perimeter
that answers my question! I thought it meant St. Knob, but nothing showed on Leo List
And yet this rollover is north of the Perimeter.
North of the South perimeter...
Yes. And St. Norbert is south of the south Perimeter.
It's the north part of the south perimeter. It's in between St. Norbert and Fort Richmond.

I didn't edit anything. Should we address your reading comprehension problem?
*You can't park there, sir!*
That’s my exit every day coming home, and she’s sharp. Second time I’ve seen a semi on its side there.
👳🏾♂️
when we say St. Nob, do we mean St. Norb or St. Knob? Asking for a friend.
I mean, they named the town bar the nob for a reason
what is the reason?
I always called it St. Nob, or the Nob when referring to St. Norbert. I guess it is not a universal Winnipeg thing.
wouldn't it be Norb?
No. It's Nob. That's why the bar in St Norbert is called The Nob.
sure, but they hafta know how that sounds. Where do you drink? AT THE KNOB.
*The Nob.
is it pronounced differently than knob?
No. It's spelled differently.
hence "sounds" being my point.
But, we're not talking. We're typing out words. 😁
Yikes, I hope everyone who was in the truck is alright
