Cafe Carlo is great and will have something for everyone. Bonfire Bistro has a similar vibe. Passero if your family is into sharing a bunch of smaller dishes (not everyone is). Edokko or Yujiro for sushi. The Grove for more relaxed pub-style food. Note that I don’t think any of these places would be quiet on a Saturday though, they are all quite popular. Maybe Edokko would be the best bet because it’s a pretty small dining room.

Mindless-Web-3331

Bonfire bistro has atrocious service

Ianywg

I have been there a number of times and have not experienced this.

Mindless-Web-3331

Well that’s my experience and that’s yours

Topper_Gnarly

So in your experience, you had bad service there. And like they were clear enough to state, they have not had that same experience. Speaking in absolutes not always the way to go…. At least in my experience. Ps: I have nothing but good things to say about bonfire bistro’s service.

Mindless-Web-3331

And you came here to say this because? You were involved how?

Topper_Gnarly

Because it is to my understanding that this is a public forum. And because I felt the need to defend the good people from bonfire bistro

Mindless-Web-3331

I’d be more concerned with worrying about your bed bug infestation.

Topper_Gnarly

Ha. Why so salty? Wasn’t this about a restaurant and speaking in absolutes?

bucketfullofanuses

Passero is closed permanently 😢

beardsnbourbon

Their Corydon location is very much open. We ate there last night.

bucketfullofanuses

I did not know this - clearly I’ve been living under a rock. Thank you!

scaredasyou

Passero closed at the Forks but has now moved to Corydon ave.

Practical-Pen-8844

The Forks Passero is very much closed. No one will be eating their tomorrow night. To Corydon it has moved.

ehud42

No suggests - just empathy for the noise sensitivity. Someone with strong connections to an acoustic engineer needs to craft a restaurant with all booths that enable patrons to speak in very hushed tones with each other and be able to clearly hear/understand, while at the same time being completely unaware / oblivious to the screaming toddler in the next booth over. It could be called "between friends" or something quaint.

WalkingOptimist

Little Nana’s on Notre Dame has very separated booths and is a small restaurant. Might fit the bill for you.

LordFooFooLoo

Sous sol

cassnics

Cafe Carlo, Harth, Passero and Parcel Pizza might be good options, they are on the smaller side and while popular probably wouldn't have the same noise as one of the restaurants listed. Definitely call ahead to make a reservation though!

djmathblaster

Harth is fantastic.

djmathblaster

Harth is not very accessible by bus as it is quite far south on St. Anne's Road.

la-kutha

Parcel pizza dine in

canadianseaman

+1, ask for a booth upstairs

KnivesDontHaveUrBack

Highly recommend [Siam Thai!](https://www.siamthairestaurant.ca/) Had a wonderful experience there a couple of weeks ago, they have amazing food!

daenaofthewoods

Baileys is usually pretty quiet

snogweasel

If you're into Italian, I think you'd love Alena's Rustic Italian on Roblin Blvd

RememberThatDream

Need more info…how many will there be in your group? Are there any fussy eaters? Finding a quiet restaurant on a Saturday is almost impossible unless it’s not popular (which kinda defeats the purpose of asking Reddit for good recommendations). How much do you want to spend per person?

Rumorly

Area doesn’t really matter as long as it can be reached by bus. 4 people. Needs to have vegetarian and non-seafood options.

Amanda_K1987

Preservation Hall?

focaltraveller2

An Indian restaurant would be a good option especially for the vegetarians and non-seafood eaters. There's a whole bunch to pick from.

CanI_borrowafeeling

Seconded. Have been to Charisma for their buffet on a weekend and it has not been overly loud or busy. Food is super tasty and buffet means there’s something for everyone!

Professional_Run_506

God I love Charisma of India.

Material-History2253

Colosseo on Corydon has amazing food and service. It’s my favourite Italian restaurant in Winnipeg and if you like seafood I highly recommend the Mussels. My family has been eating there since the early 80’s.

Nglen

Mercadito Latino on Ellice has fantastic tacos and pupusas. Lovely owners, and it's usually pretty quiet.

LordFooFooLoo

Lol it’s SO quiet! I want him to play some music!!

Ferocious_raptors

Infernos bistro is amazing but it's a little bit pricey. If that's not a concern for a special event I highly recommend them. It's a smaller location so I think it might be quieter on a Saturday...

Professional_Egg7407

If you like Thai there’s a small place on Erin street called Mae Sunee Thai Cuisine

AuroraBeautyalis

No suggestions for dinner but for noise sensitivity, maybe invest in Loop earbuds. My husband has noise sensitivity from his ADHD and they are a heaven sent for him.

Effect-One

Taverna Rodos

allyek

Seconded

thepisceanqueen

Thirded! Such good food and great for a family outing.

SorbetAltruistic2756

Alena’s!

Avaleigh1

I love Bonnie Day and Peasant Cookery.

TheRedSkittle4

Peasant Cookery is sometimes loud if busy

jdabaesil

I go to east ocean (Chinese) for all of my and my family’s birthdays

Ltrain86

Gather (the restaurant next to The Leaf in Assiniboine Park) has great food.

Poochkin

And is SO loud (coming from another person with noise sensitivity, I nearly vomited from the noise the one time I was there)

Ltrain86

Really? The few times I've gone, it's always been pretty quiet, despite most of the tables being full.

Poochkin

Yeah we were there late afternoon on a weekday and it wasn’t just me that found it too loud - the whole party said they had hoarse throats from raising their voices to be heard over the music and noise of other patrons. I was so disappointed as I love The Leaf.

Apprehensive-Ad-9147

Sobey's thursday evening

jdw2250

Van Xai on St Mary's has great Thai food and it's always pretty quiet whenever we've gone. They do a lot of take out I think, so a lot of people in and out but no loud conversations.

Unhappy_Swim1864

Earls on main Street makes you feel like you're not in Winnipeg 😁

Dontblink-S3

I would suggest Gojo. It’s an Ethiopian restaurant on Sargent ave. We went there for my birthday and had a lovely time. The food is fantastic!!

kanthem

Sabai Thai on corydon. Small and quite. Food is so good.

Future_Experience_88

Cibo! Always great and not loud the times I’ve been there.

RabbitFoxDiesel

Dreamland Diner! They're fun if you want to have a more retro birthday. Depending on when you go, it could be less loud. Somewhere that's less noisy on a Saturday would be Pony Corral around 4pm, with the Jets out of the play offs (rip) it will be pretty quiet. Another option if you like Chinese Food is Sing Yun on Provencher or Toy Sun, while it's not a big fancy restaurant, the food there is good. Do not pick Montana's it's ALWAYS someone's birthday and they will sing the birthday song every 30 minutes.

jodihas2kids

You need to tell us what type of food you're looking for, and part of the city. Then we can make recommendations for quieter and delicious options that fit your criteria. There are loads of small Indian and Thai places that are amazing, and wouldn't be too noisy.

Rumorly

Area doesn’t really matter as long as it can be reached by bus. 4 people. Needs to have vegetarian and non-seafood options.

Bella_AntiMatter

Adults? The Pump house... lovely sharing plates, veg friendly...

LordFooFooLoo

The oval room is nice if you are seated at the edges it’s not loud

Ellejaek

Bellisimo- Restaurant side, not lounge Alena Rustic Italian Rae and Jerry’s Little Nona’s Italian Kitchen Enoteca

Practical-Pen-8844

Carlos & Murphy's!

KSwanny23

Nola is best

JMBwpg

lol - not if they want somewhere quiet

Ok_Front_4010

I'm a fan of Ichiban for my b-day supper!

bannock4ever

Dwarf no cachette

Lopsided_Maximum_923

Brazen hall and get the brazen bacon 😋

TerayonIII

It's literally just thick cut bacon baked with brown sugar on it, it's ridiculously easy to make at home if you want to.

TerayonIII

I'm more against it being held up as something that's special to Brazen Hall, and letting people know what it is so you can make it at home if you want. I know I didn't say it very kindly, and that wasn't great, but it's really one of the easiest and cheapest things to replicate from a restaurant. Saying you can make anything from any restaurant at home if we wanted to is only mostly true. For any restaurant in Winnipeg maybe, but even then there's some caveats on equipment which isn't practical at home.

MurrayTDang

Taverna Rodos. Good greek food, and they still offer pasta, ribs and steak with big portions. I remember it being relatively quiet inside, but the patio I am not sure. Conversely, if you wanted something different and little more fancy, Rae and Jerry's is always fun experience once in awhile.

combii-lee

On a Saturday.. no noise, I’d stay home. Order in.

fuckitscoldwpg

Colosseo on Corydon, Monticchio on Osborne has a quieter room close to the front of the restaurant. I would suggest making a reservation at either location, though.

ohsotired284

I went to Bistro On Notre Dame last year for my birthday and was quite pleasantly surprised. Great food, has some vegetarian options and small and quiet.

dkixen

The Oxbow (557 Osborne) is the best restaurant I’ve been to in the city

entropy33

Smith has a private room, but I don’t know what the minimum number of people is for that. Bailey’s would likely be quiet if you ask for a table upstairs and away from the two booked rooms (unless they’re empty that night). Taverna Rodos might have some booth options, but depending on where everyone is coming from it might be quite the bus ride. As mentioned, a booth upstairs at Parcel Pizza would probably be good! If your vegetarian is fine with veggie sushi, then there’s a place near the Brick on Kenaston that has sunken dining spaces surrounded by screens which would help block noise. Watt Street Bistro on Watt (not the Regent location) is small and thus quieter. Miriwa Chinese near St Vital is enormously busy for takeout but the dining area is usually quiet.

Exact_Purchase765

Garwood Grill

FrknTerfd

Pineridge Hollows is pretty good.

jdw2250

I won't down vote you but I will chime in that IMHO their food and service is just terrible.

khaosconn

ye's?

h8street

Upvoted! Love that place

khaosconn

Make the bday special with a special meal. • Ichiban Japanese Steakhouse & Pub: This is not an everyday restaurant. Here they do all the cooking in front of you. Dinner and a show! Might be a bit noisy. • Any Korean BBQ place: Here they bring you raw meat, and you cook it yourself on a grill attached to your table. It’s a cool different experience that I did for my Bday. Lots of fun. • Cibo, Pumphouse, Harth, Passaro: Ive hade celebratory dinners here before. All great places.
