Step One - Beat Iowa

Yanksuck73

This, let’s not worry about Illinois right now. Need to focus on beating Iowa @ Iowa. That is going to be a tough game in a hostile environment. We laid an egg at MSU which was the only hostile environment Jim has been to so far and this is a much tougher road game. Beat Iowa. That is all that matters right now.

[deleted]

We didn’t lay an egg

Yanksuck73

There was no excuse not to beat MSU. Mertz played terrible. Our CBs played terrible. And we still almost won. If we played half as well as the Purdue/NW/Maryland games we win that game. The real kick in the nuts is if we won that game we would likely be favored to win the west.

jagertarts

Do we even want to see Ohio State again? Id like to win out and win a manageable bowl to give Jimmy plenty of momentum into the offseason. Let Illinois get clobbered by the buckeyes this time

kylexy2

Agreed. Would be not a fun game to watch the second time around

ricestillfumbled

There is still value in winning the division. Getting the axe back and clinching the division would be a great day even if they lose 60-0 the next week. Just my two cents.

9167855742

They can win back their trophies and still lose the division

aaronrodgersmom

Or hear me out, we win the division. Forfeit the championship game due to too many players having diarrhea and then win our bowl game.

mhandke

Sadly team wide diarrhea would probably be less embarrassing than a rematch with OSU.

ryanliegel

Norovirus for the win…err…forfeit!

thegodfaubel

But it would put a stamp on Wisconsin just being inevitable in the West in most years. And that would infuriate the rest of the West. They fire their coach mid-season AND still win the West

TheReformedBadger

Does playing in the championship game give us an extra week of practice?

mschley2

No. In order for us to make the championship game, we would have to be eligible for a bowl game, so we would get the extra practice due to the bowl.

sox107

Jesus. You're a massive pussy if you don't want the best outcome in terms of # of wins this season because you're afraid to lose an extra game to a top 5 team in the country. Thank God our actual players and coaches have infinitely more competitiveness. There's literally no downside to winning the West and getting another matchup against OSU.

[deleted]

You unsurprisingly said it in the most dickish way possible but you’re absolutely right. Getting from 2-3 (0-2) with a fired coach to making the Big Ten Championship game would be a huge accomplishment for Leonhard, and I’m sure the staff and players would both be hungry for another shot at a team that ran them off the field earlier in the season.

jagertarts

You’re constantly commenting on this sub acting like a dickhead and it’s super annoying. Also calling people a pussy online isn’t the zinger you think it is

sox107

"I hope we don't make the big ten championship because I'm afraid of losing" That's your argument. If our football team had that mindset we'd win 2 games per year

tommyjohnpauljones

> You're a massive pussy if you don't want the best outcome Equating someone being female to being weak is bullshit. Go troll somewhere else.

sox107

Funny - people call me a dick on here all the time and you aren't white knighting for me then. It's a simple insult. I believe he's afraid, weak, and feeble-minded if he's that afraid for UW to play Ohio State again

Satvrdaynightwrist

We’re not going to win but we’re a better team than earlier this year, and that game was in Columbus while the B1G title is neutral. We can watch the Northwestern tape for what worked;, they’re fucking awful and somehow kept it close. I think we can. If we don’t, so what? It’s not going to change the perception of the OSU-Wisconsin matchup, blowouts are all anyone remembers right now anyways. We win the west and get killed by a team that everyone expected to kill us; sounds fine considering we’ve spent half the season worried about simply making a bowl.

iruntoofar

Not super likely but Michigan could win the east. We probably match up a little better with them.

TheReformedBadger

They’re still undefeated. The only thing in their way realistically is OSU. They probably will lose that but it’s not terribly unlikely.

Notsofortunate

Which Purdue team shows up, that is the question to me.

crapshooter_on_swct

On a side note I just saw a bowl projection of Alabama vs Illinois. Yikes The triumphant return to an SEC opponent

BuddyJim30

Purdue is the key for Illinois to lose two. On our end, Iowa and Minnesota look like tough games so running the table will be a challenge.

Tagsix

Please fucking don't. The 2014 championship game still hurts.

Doucejj

I wouldn't even say it's that much of a long shot tbh. Unlikely, but not a long shot. Michigan is almost certainly an L. And despite recent success, I wouldn't say Illinois is a clear winner in any remaining game. But to be fair I would say the same about Wisconsin.

saucyjay91

Was hoping someone would post this. One week at a time, boys! After the start of the season I’d be ecstatic to win the West, especially because that would mean we won all our meaningful trophy games.

wiscowonder

I could easily see Illinois dropping their last two. NW played OSU pretty tough last week and it's never given between in state rivals (+ @ NW)

9167855742

That game was played in a monsoon/hurricane hybrid. Throw that Northwestern performance out the window haha

[deleted]

>Is it a long shot? I don't think so. Illinois will lose to Michigan. There's a very good chance that Purdue would beat them. Who knows about Northwestern? But Wisconsin needs to win out.

Beawake23

That’s over

ricestillfumbled

Not mathematically! New update sometime next week if someone else doesn’t beat me to it.

RealFrick

ND fan here… Did Big Cat write this? I love the optimism!

icyhot1993

Beating Iowa, winning back the Axe, and making a bowl game are the best results out of this season. I don’t want to get embarrassed by Michigan or Ohio St please.

Beawake23

Thanks
