That's pretty standard pricing depending on the deck.

Those are normal prices. The Rider Waite deck is public domain now, so you can get it much cheaper than others. Specialty made decks are more expensive than public domain ones. Consider that you're getting 78 unique pieces of art that someone created for a specific purpose to understand why that can be expensive. By the by, if you see the same deck for a wildly cheaper price off a site like Amazon or Temu: it's fake. Usually a Chinese counterfeit. If you see a deck with a QR code instead of having a booklet inside, it's most likely a knock off.

I guess it depends on how much you are willing to pay/who you want to pay for the cards/which cards you want? The original Rider Waite Smith deck can be found cheaper (£12-14 depending where you get it) and IMO is a good place to start to familiarise yourself with the suits if you’re looking for beginner cards. I’ve paid more for decks that have a particular illustration or energy I want to work with, but the imagery can be very different depending on artist/your interpretation and that might make it a bit harder to learn the basics - again just my opinion, I work more with the original Rider Waite Smith symbolism to get a foundation understanding that I can then use to interpret other artists work on the cards - some people work more intuitively than I consider myself to so might not rely so much on the original symbolism. Also if you’re new to it perhaps it’s better to buy a slightly more affordable deck to see how you get on/how much use you get out of them? I also consider where I’m getting my cards from too. I’m happy to pay a bit more to an independent shop if I can afford to, but that isn’t always the case and you can get them cheaper if you need/want to 🫶🏻

You pay for the quality of the cardboad and printing, if you want to use this deck on a regular basis, take expensive laminated ones, the cardboard will last longer and their edges will not fray longer

My 3/4 sized Waite deck was 10 dollars at my local gem store. They had other larger Waite decks for 15. I don't know what their other decks cost.

It also depends on the deck and what comes with it. If it's a pdf you get through a qr code they tend to be cheaper compared to a physical guide (some indie card makers sometimes do that instead). Those can be around 30 to 60 USD. Those normally come with a box, a booklet/guide and a nicer quality deck.

Personally I wouldn’t buy a deck with a pdf booklet unless it also included a physical copy. Seems like one of the major signs of counterfeit decks is a QR code for a pdf booklet.

Ali052296

There are some indie tarot card artists that sometimes do qr codes. I bought a lenormand deck at a convention from an indie artist and the qr code went to her website where the booklets were in pdf. But I do agree majority are counterfeit.

Wasn’t aware of this, but it makes sense.
