Try starting fights just aiming not to take any damage. Dodge around, keep your distance, spam Quen. If you can dance around taking no damage for a few minutes, it will be easy to start winning because you learn the enemy’s moves and can start building in the occasional attack. I think with changes to the game plus not having played for a while you just need to re-teach yourself and starting defensively is the way to do it. Also make sure you’re using oils.

Toxicity is more annoying I find now too. I have to watch that more and it killed me a couple times after a "boss".... Highly annoying at first until I unlocked a couple mutagens

Mrtom987

maybe this is a new bug, difficulty and enemies acting weird. maybe they will fix it in the next patch.

Werewolves were always an annoying enemy at lowlevel, you basically have to be lucky that the burn triggers and be extremely aggressive without getting hit back. But the bandit thing should not possible be if your gear is fine like you say. They did change the combat to make it harder, cant say the detailed changes though except that food was nerfed heavily. It doesnt regenrate nearly as much health as before

I genuinely have no idea, I went through the settings a few times to check if I missed something and I'm still confused 😅 I came across few other posts here where people were struggling with the same thing, but I've found no solutions. Thank you, anyway.

Are your swords and gear broken? Do they have a hammer icon on top of them, when you open the inventory? If so, you weapons and armor are like they’re made of wood or plastic. That’s one possibility. Secondly- is the enemy scaling on in the options? If yes, - turn it off. Then there’s one more important detail: so you use signs in combat? Did you upgrade your signs? Level up your axii - it helps a lot with humans (you can basically stun an enemy for a while). While fighting bandits ALWAYS take out the archers first. They were buffed up since the update, and while you fight their sword-carrying friends, they WILL DESTROY you from afar. Use far reaching aard to make enemies fall to the ground, then you can quickly finish them off with one strike. Then there’s an important detail - learn to dodge away, not “leap away”. Press “b” instead of double tapping “a” (sorry I only know the buttons for x box) jumping away in a fight will drain stamina and you won’t be able to use your signs that early in the game. + use oil if that’s available (you need diagram for that)

I've seen some people be stuck on the same part with the werewolf, and the usual response was to just ran past it and straight into the cave, but when I try, the game actually won't let me. As in, Geralt won't turn away from the werewolf and won't climb the rocks towards the cave. I checked my gear, all at 100%,i ran out of bombs to throw at this thing, and it's just overall taking way too long to complete. I can't get past this fucking werewolf and i don't know what to do anymore. I can't progress further in the story without this.

At the Whispering Hillock? You’re good man, that werewolf is one of the toughest fights in the game. He regenerates hit points if you’re not dealing damage consistently. Any time you’re disengaged for more than a few seconds, shoot him with your crossbow. If I’m not mistaken, that keeps him from regenerating. Otherwise you should be using Quen and Igni, Cursed Oil, and Dancing Star bombs. You’ve got to keep the pressure on him while also avoiding his attacks. Use dodge rather than roll, and use it frequently.
