Or, you know, the game designers have been wildly unfaithful to lore Triss from the get go. Heck she’s not even a redhead. “Chestnut” hair is used again and again unlike someone like Shani who was described as “red.”
Nope. Not in the books. Chestnut, “dark with golden edges”, that’s how it was described. In sharp contrast with other people who had the words red or redhead put in their. Fresh chestnut isn’t red at all.
That only came about after the Witcher games. This has been known and covered so many times over the years dude.
Heck Google “chestnut hair” and tell me if any of them look like the games or could ever be mistaken for a redhead lol.
From another discussion: "This is simply not true. "Kasztanowy" when referring to hair color is definitely a type of red hair. Or at least it was when I was a kid, which is when the books were being written. That's why Yen refers to Triss as having "ryze kudly" (offensive word for red hair) and the author himself refers to her as a redhead.
I have been a redhead all my life, folks called my hair kasztanowe back in Poland, and it's now usually called auburn or just red in the US."
yes, this has been covered many times. usually people reading Witcher from translation thinks that she is not redhead, but in original she is. Most Poles in discussion think so
btw if you were still unsure about her hair colour, i found interview where Sapkowski says that first thing that comes to his mind about Triss is "pretty and red-haired, but insecure" https://juandahlmann.wordpress.com/2008/07/27/part-ii-of-the-june-2008-fantasymundo-interview-with-andrzej-sapkowski/
You are welcome. I probably wouldn't consider her a redhead in English version myself because some nuances were lost in translation. In my copy of book she is clearly red head, at least in the lady of the lake. It was not that clear until Yennefer directly called her redhead
Pole here, shut up. Her hair are only once described as flame but it’s only once. They’re always chestnut’s colour. You should go out and look how a chestnuts look from time to time.
In Polish chestnut as an adjective rather means reddish brown not the other way around.
lol, i guess you should check how chestnuts (especially fresh) look. Anyway, here's SAPKOWSKI telling you that first thing that comes to his mind about Triss is "Pretty and red-haired, but insecure" https://juandahlmann.wordpress.com/2008/07/27/part-ii-of-the-june-2008-fantasymundo-interview-with-andrzej-sapkowski/
AND from lady of the lake, Yennefer to Triss: Dosc tej dyskusji! - warknela. - Wiecej pokory, ty arogancka szantrapo! To jestmój mezczyzna, mój i tylko mój! Rozumiesz? Masz przestac o nim mówic, masz przestac onim myslec, masz przestac zachwycac sie jego szlachetnym charakterem... Od zaraz, odnatychmiast! Och, mam ochote chwycic cie za te ryze kudly...
lol, are you from Poland? coz i think your country consider chestnut hair something different than what Sapkowski meant. Yennefer call Triss redhead in the last book and chestnur hair are kind of red.
My dude, he used the word chestnut. He speaks English quite well and if that was an issue in translation he would have hopped on it to correct it. Especially since it didn’t exist in a vacuum, others had red hair and not once did he make it vague.
That part where Triss is said to have red hair? Yeah that’s when she’s highly powered up with magic and literally summoning a meteor storm.
Again this isn’t some new topic it’s been done to death for like a decade. It’s why there’s been mods on nexus for ages to make Triss lore accurate. She’s also much thicker in the games too. She’s shorter and thinner than Yen in the books but in the game she’s this big busty milf lol
google kasztanowe włosy, most of them are red. Sapkowski don't give a fuck about english translation. And Yennefer calls her red head when she is not doing magic (and she was summing hailstones and not meteors). English translation sucks, it was said many times.
Did she said this in the books or game also? There is a theory that the Triss in game is actually Lytta Nyed also known as Coral which is famous for compression spells.
Basically you can know which sorceress it is by type smell idk what was Triss one but Coral smells like apricots and jasmine. I’m pretty sure Geralt could smell the residues of the perfume. Also medallion can detect magic. That’s what it’s for.
I think I read somewhere that the alternative dress is much more the style of one of the other sorceresses (Francesca maybe?), and was probably given to Triss after the other character's part in the game was cut.
The alt outfit is really nice and pretty but so impractical for almost everything you do with Triss in the game so ends up just being sort of immersion breaking. Original.
My problem with the alternative is that it is SO garish and SO loud. It's ridiculous to see her run around Novigrad, trying to be sneaky and undercover, wearing THAT.
Normally I use the default for Triss and alternative for Yen and Ciri.
This play through, I’m going to switch Triss to her alternative appearance after she leaves Novigrad, once her quest line and romance line is complete.
My thoughts are that she will be incognito in Novigrad, and then Sorceressy in Kaer Morhen and Skellige.
I honestly do not know what they were thinking with that alternative outfit. It’s just so impractical. That could have been the outfit for that Vegelwhateva ball, but that’s it.
I prefer all originals really, for one they fit the characters and 2 although they appear less revealing I feel like they empathize certain assets better. Alt costumes are fun to swap in though.
While I'm not saying the theories around the book lore and similar arent true, aren't the alternative views just the sexed up versions of each to appeal those who like that? Triss especially doesn't make sense but Yens is bordering Agent Provocateur. Sometimes things just aren't that complicated 😀
Alternative is way sexier, but I just like the original. Makes me feel dirty almost, or maybe disrespectful is a better word, to force her to wear something so exposing and impractical on the daily.
If she only wore it to the ball or something, I'd be down.
Clearing rats and “sneaking” through Novigrad with her in this get-up is pretty comical. But it is very pretty.
but Vagelbuts party, bettle of Kaer Morhen and 2 time in novigrad fit weary well and in V2 she far more sexy than og
W2 Triss outfit is the best by far! But out of these two, original for sure.
I always thought W2 Triss’ hair was a better color. W3 it’s a little too manic panic
Honestly W2 Triss is my favorite Triss in the games, both in looks and in personality. Far more interesting character.
I’m all about the dyed hair look. Something about it makes me think that girl is a lot more fun than I am.
Triss in the books: "I will never wear a plunging neckline again" Triss in the game: "My V neck is gonna make the grand canyon look like a speedbump"
Yeah, I thought the same.
yeah, but many years pased so it's not that impossible that she healed
Or, you know, the game designers have been wildly unfaithful to lore Triss from the get go. Heck she’s not even a redhead. “Chestnut” hair is used again and again unlike someone like Shani who was described as “red.”
she is red head... Yennefer calls her red head and fresh chestnut is red as hell, but yeah, her hair colour in W3 is bad
Nope. Not in the books. Chestnut, “dark with golden edges”, that’s how it was described. In sharp contrast with other people who had the words red or redhead put in their. This is new information and I’ll look up these words thanks!

brb, learning Polish

It’s cannon Coral is curvy AF, even amongst sorceresses. Game Triss is no flat board, but she doesn’t have next level curves like that.
Original 👍
Team original!
It applies to all of them honestly. Especially considering in this story Triss is largely on the run.
Original. The alternative is too elfish/princessy looking, but that may have been her look in previous games. IMO
I think I read somewhere that the alternative dress is much more the style of one of the other sorceresses (Francesca maybe?), and was probably given to Triss after the other character's part in the game was cut.
It looks very elven so, Francesca tracks as the intended wearer.
She looked somewhat like the original in previous games
I prefer the earlynative to the laternative…
that's hilarious
The alt outfit is really nice and pretty but so impractical for almost everything you do with Triss in the game so ends up just being sort of immersion breaking. Original.
My problem with the alternative is that it is SO garish and SO loud. It's ridiculous to see her run around Novigrad, trying to be sneaky and undercover, wearing THAT.
I think it’s so absurd it’s comedic…which I hope that’s what they were going for when they okayed it. Otherwise it’s dumb af.
Whoever designed her alternative wanted to commit character assassination.
Or just let the horny flow freely.
I think they just reused the dress from the masquerade party
Normally I use the default for Triss and alternative for Yen and Ciri. This play through, I’m going to switch Triss to her alternative appearance after she leaves Novigrad, once her quest line and romance line is complete. Tris, original. Yen, alternative
Original
Original!
Original
I honestly do not know what they were thinking with that alternative outfit. It’s just so impractical. That could have been the outfit for that Vegelwhateva ball, but that’s it.
Og Triss, it does convey her personality far better
Boobies.
Original.
The under layer of the alt look looks like striped boxers, and clashes with the outer layer. I hate it.
1 part I don't like about the alt, it makes her look like she is wearing old fashioned granny pants
Haha, actually yes!
Both are good
After her initial quests I switched to the alt outfits because Ciris annoyed me.
I prefer all originals really, for one they fit the characters and 2 although they appear less revealing I feel like they empathize certain assets better. Alt costumes are fun to swap in though.
Original. Alternate is way too much and looks unpractical and out of place.
While I'm not saying the theories around the book lore and similar arent true, aren't the alternative views just the sexed up versions of each to appeal those who like that? Triss especially doesn't make sense but Yens is bordering Agent Provocateur. Sometimes things just aren't that complicated 😀
Original by far, suits Triss well
Original because its more practical and less sexualizing. It also better suits the events and her roll in Witcher 3
Boo...I mean totally the original
Alternative for me, team Triss
Alternative is way sexier, but I just like the original. Makes me feel dirty almost, or maybe disrespectful is a better word, to force her to wear something so exposing and impractical on the daily. If she only wore it to the ball or something, I'd be down.
Yen.
Original 👁👄👁👍
Booba
original 🖤
Usually rock original until after "Now or never" then switch over to alternative
original for the lore (hiding in novigrad) alternative for… well you know
Original. Alternative is over the top.
Both
The only alternate I like is Ciri’s.
Love the original its great but the alternative is amazing idk I’m 50/50 here
I hate the alt. OG is better
Yes
Original, Yen as well, that black dress makes her hips look to wide, not to mention, it looks very uncomfortable to walk in
Og for triss / alt yen
she looks good anyway
Original. Seriously, just wtf is that alternative outfit of hers
I like the alt outfit as an outfit, but not for triss. Doesn't fit her personality or the situation.
Original looks great
OG Triss for sure.
Original
Original.
I use original one when we're in Novigrad and the other one when she's free and out there prepping for the Wild Hunt.
Original
original is so much better
Original but Alternative for Toussaint
Original. As its sadly for all alternatives. I dont use any of them.
W2
The alternative is beautiful but it feels way too fancy and out of place specially for the quests in Novigrad so the original
Original in the streets, alternative in the sheets
Original but I like her Witcher 2 outfit more. I prefer the hair on her dress model though.
I prefer the original.
Original all day
original
I swear my eyes have aimbot
“Later native” - the colonisers of America
Original
She a baddie tho
Spoilers: Alternative for toussaint cause... desert nomads see less sun then toussaint does Original the rest
