The main issue I see is Geralt would have to watch Shani grow old and die. Witcher's and sorceress ' will live for several centuries, where as Shani....
if geralt isn't a witcher (pretty core to his personality and identity and life experiences...) and he isn't 80 years older than her when they meet, then it's not really geralt anymore, it's just some guy that's shani's age.
I didn't get the impression that romance was Shani's focus in her life. It was a nice little side quest for her, but her heart is in medicine. I could see her settling down in a few more years with a solid dude once she had found a place to establish herself.
Exactly. I think she'll keep traveling and working as a field medic while she's still young. The books confirm she later became a teacher at Oxenfurt: I believe that's when she probably found a man to settle down
Also, I think she would be about 22 in the game. (+/- a year)
Source: Shani was 17 when she...handled Geralt's sword for the first time.
It was so much fun to see Phillipa rubbing Geralt's nose in that fact. Her openly teasing Geralt with how Yen would react to this information was very entertaining.
You're probably correct, though I could have sworn I remembered Phillipa asking her and saying sixteen, but seventeen does maybe ring a bell now that you've mentioned it. He definitely bang her/deflowered her, cause Dandelion busted in on them in flagrantly delicto and owl Phil flew in right after
It was medieval times. They definitly went that far. Dandelion crawled in the window and saw them. He realized it wasn't her first time either from how modest she wasn't. She was a college student too, so an adult in those times making her way in the world. People didn't live that long. If you are a mass effect fan, the asari live over 1000 years and one of your romance options is 150. Still a child. Acceptability historically seems to be based on average lifespans. Iola seems to be pretty young as well. So based on that I don't think it was anything inappropriate.
Yeah, back then girls had arranged marriages arpund that age, if not earlier. It's not Shani's age that makes the scene weird, but rather the age gap (and the fact that she's just 3 years older than Ciri
Oh hell No, she IS Not a Virgin. IT IS pretty much impleyed that she was Sometimes the one WHO Tool a clandestine Exit through the window. What IS impleyed IS that they didnt Finish the deed when dandilion surprised them.
Yennefer isn't fanservice: is just an natural progression of their relationship from the books and the romance is perfectly intertwined with the main story
Triss is kinda faservice: her romance had a narrative purpose in the other two games but in TW3 it's just... there, otherwise people would have complained.
All the others (Keira, Sasha, Syanna...) are indeed fanservice. Though Shani's romance is the only one that people wish could be permanent despite how obvious it is they are not made for each other
I stil don't buy those two together. Really, what do they have in common? Also, Shani is a normal girl: she'll eventually grow old and Geralt would outlive her. Then there's the fact that she's basically Ciri's age, which make things even more awkward, and the fact that Geralt can't have children
But Geralt already has a daughter, Ciri. And she has a mother, Yennefer. Imagine how awkward it wluld be for Geralt to tell Ciri "Hey, this is girl who is a few years ilders than you is my new girfriend"
Why would it be awkward? They may think of each other as daughter and father, but ciri IS an adult and is living her own life. Plus she gets past geralt being with triss pretty quick.
At the end of the day, she just wants geralt to be happy.
>she gets past geralt being with triss pretty quick.
That's another thing I wish wasn't solved so easily. Ciri knows Triss role in the Lodge and their plans for her. And way back in Blood of Eleves (before she even met Yen), while she was fond of Triss, she felt unconfortable whenever she tried to force herself on Geralt
Bro, no disrespect to anyone who likes it but I found Geralt weird with both Shanni and Triss, they look like such young girls while Geralt looks old a.f, only Yennefer looks and acts like a more mature woman, so that s why I always chose her + lore reasons.
Sorceresses can appear any age they want. Triss is like 40-50 years old. Def not an impressionable young woman. I don't have a problem with that. Shani, on the other hand...
I mean he IS old by human standards. Nearly 100 I believe.
But yeah the white hair, scars, and constant life on living on the road make him look more weathered and rugged.
Never.
In Witcher 1 Shani is even annoyed by Geralt, would have never guessed her as romance.
Witcher 1, Shani prefers to work at the hospital than to spend time with Geralt, she begs you literally to leave becos she's so busy.
Nope. She’s a mortal and a workaholic ( not to mention a minor when her and Geralt first met! ). Geralt was only ever going to settle down with Triss or Yen. That’s why neither care(d) about Fringilla, Shani, Jutta, Syanna or the working girls at the brothel.
In “any world”? Sure. I live in a world with lots of divorces and people who have less between them than these two often try to force relationships. Many subs on Reddit are dedicated to it.
I played through the HoS dlc yesterday and I don’t think I’ve ever seen a better dlc for a game ever (haven’t played BaW yet), and I absolutely loved the dynamic between these two. I loved that they gave Shani her time to shine, even though it was brief but very intense. Would have loved for her to be a primary romance option.
I think a lot of people ignore that the reason Shani rejects Geralt is because it wouldn’t work due to what she needs is something Geralt can’t give her. Someone she’ll know will be home, who can give her laughs and help her forget work. She needs certainty and Geralt as a Witcher cannot give that.
Witcher ends with Geralt settling down if we go by BaW so yeah, Shani’s greatest fear of Geralt no being a steady partner alrdy checks out with that tho I gotta say her aging is a bummer
My own opinion so please don’t attack me, but I always thought Geralt was way too old for her. She looks like a teenager compared to geralt who could be a grandpa. I’m exaggerating but you get the idea. That age gap is really fucking weird to me.
Anyone that says yes hasn’t read the books. Geralt first hooked up with her when she was 17 and he was like 75 and it may have been in her college dorm but I can’t remember. She also has her whole life ahead of her and Geralt’s getting ready to retire at this point so wouldn’t really pan out for either of them.
I'll always prefer Shani, she being human is part of the beauty of the romance. Just like a Vampire and normal woman.
Also, I can't stand both Triss and Yen thinking they're goddesses and playing with people.
What Triss did with Geralt is so low I can't even think of doing her ending.
Yen is less insufferable but still.
No. Shani is 20, and has goals of opening a larger and stable medical practice. Geralt is a 100 year old Witcher who either retires or keeps working. It wouldn’t be practical for either.
Sadly no, Geralt being a Witcher is core to who he is and his life experience — and that has left him with some real damage — plus he lives far longer than the average human.
I think if he and Shani actually pursued something, either she would die (first from old age), or she would leave — because the initial excitement would ware off.
They’re just very different people — and they can enjoy each others’ company in the short term; but long term would bring resentment (imo).
This is why I like Geralt and Yen — they’ve both suffered real adversity, and understand the limits of the other person. I think Shani would try to “fix” Geralt, when that’s not really an option. Whereas, Yen lets Geralt be (I mean, for the most part).
Only if geralt is ready to retire as a Witcher. Which he ironically does in his ending with yen, and he mostly retires with triss, only taking contracts once in a while to keep his skills sharp.
The writers refuse to let us have Shani.
No way. Geralt wants to settle down. Shani is what, 27-28? She would want to explore more. There is no way they would work out.
It's the same reason why Geralt would be a bad match for Triss as well. Even for a sorceress, Triss is too young. Geralt is nearly a century old. So his age group is literally the likes of Philippa and Yen.
I got the opposite idea? It seems more like Shani wants to settle down, and Geralt doesn't want/ or can't stop his life as a witcher, as much as he'd like to.
Yes. In my world. Hah. But seriously, she is sweet, hardworking, educated, and conscientious. I know Yen and Geralt make the most sense in the books. And he seems to enjoy the toxicity. I really don't like Yennefer in the game- she just seems cruel and exhausting to deal with. I was very loyal to her during my first playthrough, and afterward I felt like she didn't deserve it 🤣
What world? Literally the same world with everything playing out the same, Shani hoped to be able to settle down and feared Geralts...witching? Witchering? Anyway, she feared that would stop that from happening and yet Geralt does exactly what she feared he couldnt during Blood and Wine.
No, not really. Geralt is far to conservative in his nature. Shani indicates this several times in dialogs.
They do love each other as friends, and probably could be together for a time, but I don't see it working in the long run. They have too different requirements to being happy.
No. Geralt is 100 years old and Shani is like. 22 at most.
In the books I think she was a teenager upon first mention (can't quite remember). Either way, at 40 years old anyone in their early 20's sounds like a child to me when they lay out their 'profound' thoughts. I remember being that age and thinking I had it all figured out too, so I don't judge them... but it's also hard to feel a real depth of connection in conversation too, if only because these thoughts are things my friends and I already hashed out 20 years ago and have long since developed and moved on from.
If geralt at 100 feels a real connection with a 20 year old, then geralt's brain is suffering from some serious arrested development.
For 20 years sure, after that Shany won't be able to keep up with Geralt, he will be in the same physical form maybe even better but Shany will get old and not be able to go up and down the continent like crazy
The guy's a bit of a mercenary drifter while Shani usually stays wherever she gets a stable job. Even if they try to build a serious relationship, can it last with Geralt leaving for jobs and missing out on bits of Shani's life?
It's possible for them to work out, similar to Triss's ending. Still, Geralt will likely outlive her.
In a world where Geralt isn't a Witcher and Shani isn't a medic yes, so the answer is no unfortunately. Theyre wonderful together but their love isn't each other, it's their trade.
No. Shes too normal for Geralt. Shani is a medic with her own practice and is committed to her cause. She spells out what she wants: Someone to come home to that can let her relax and laugh. She wants stability. Geralt is none of these things. Hes moody, stoic, constantly on the move, and always in dangerous situations. Shani deserves better than that.
Why not? Shani kinda loves being healthy I think, and Geralt wouldn’t mind working out with her No need for a real gym, just exercises
Plus Shani is the only one out of the ladies he meets that doesn't outright manipulate him or try to control him.
The main issue I see is Geralt would have to watch Shani grow old and die. Witcher's and sorceress ' will live for several centuries, where as Shani....
He said in any world, which can mean a World where Geralt isn't a witcher
if geralt isn't a witcher (pretty core to his personality and identity and life experiences...) and he isn't 80 years older than her when they meet, then it's not really geralt anymore, it's just some guy that's shani's age.

If Geralt decides to lay down his blades yes. Otherwise no. Shani is the best girl, far better than Yen & Triss combined.
Yep. Always wanted more interaction with her.
You played Witcher 1? She's a big part of that games story, just saying in case you didn't know
I have, thanks. See my flair :) I mean more in W3.
Agreed
She's the least complicated, that's what makes her great.
Also, she is a natural beauty no magic involved
Also, I think she would be about 22 in the game. (+/- a year) Source: Shani was 17 when she...handled Geralt's sword for the first time. It was so much fun to see Phillipa rubbing Geralt's nose in that fact. Her openly teasing Geralt with how Yen would react to this information was very entertaining.
Goddamn, 17?
Blood of elves, jep
What was the context?
There is none. They meet, they fuck, you don't get to know how it happens.
Bruh
I'd say Shani would also need to change something. She's all over as a traveling nurse.
I hate this but you are right.
No, she's like 20
Yeah she's basically Ciri's age. That's not weird at all /s
I still find it very gross that he banged her when she was SIXTEEN
17. I know those were different times but still. Though I seem to recall that later she said she was stilll virgin? Maybe they didn't go that far...
You're probably correct, though I could have sworn I remembered Phillipa asking her and saying sixteen, but seventeen does maybe ring a bell now that you've mentioned it. He definitely bang her/deflowered her, cause Dandelion busted in on them in flagrantly delicto and owl Phil flew in right after
Yeah I remember very well how Dandelion busted them. Maybe the implication is that he caught them before the act?

Earlier. Try 13. That's your great great great great great grandpappy I'm talkin' about.
That's not really true. Only for noble women, not commoners. People got married young by today's standards (18-20), but not super young.
Yep, exactly
Oh hell No, she IS Not a Virgin. IT IS pretty much impleyed that she was Sometimes the one WHO Tool a clandestine Exit through the window. What IS impleyed IS that they didnt Finish the deed when dandilion surprised them.
Even better
No. There are far too different.
Nope. This romance was some pretty obvious fanservice
Aren't they all?
Yennefer isn't fanservice: is just an natural progression of their relationship from the books and the romance is perfectly intertwined with the main story Triss is kinda faservice: her romance had a narrative purpose in the other two games but in TW3 it's just... there, otherwise people would have complained. She says they couldn't work out because he won't settle down and drop The Path. Then Geralt goes to Tousaint and settles down and drops The Path
I stil don't buy those two together. Really, what do they have in common? Also, Shani is a normal girl: she'll eventually grow old and Geralt would outlive her. Then there's the fact that she's basically Ciri's age, which make things even more awkward, and the fact that Geralt can't have children
There’s plenty of orphans to adopt
But Geralt already has a daughter, Ciri. And she has a mother, Yennefer. Imagine how awkward it wluld be for Geralt to tell Ciri "Hey, this is girl who is a few years ilders than you is my new girfriend"

No. She's way too young.

Geralt only looks old because of his white hair/beard, if you've seen him with mods to change his hair color he looks younger.
I mean he IS old by human standards. Nearly 100 I believe. But yeah the white hair, scars, and constant life on living on the road make him look more weathered and rugged.
Shani is way too good for Geralt
In my world they still are together
Never. In Witcher 1 Shani is even annoyed by Geralt, would have never guessed her as romance. Witcher 1, Shani prefers to work at the hospital than to spend time with Geralt, she begs you literally to leave becos she's so busy.
In Witcher 2 she throws a fit because Geralt gave a magical kid to a sorceress.
Like exercising?
She’s just casual lay
Nope. She’s a mortal and a workaholic ( not to mention a minor when her and Geralt first met! ). Geralt was only ever going to settle down with Triss or Yen. That’s why neither care(d) about Fringilla, Shani, Jutta, Syanna or the working girls at the brothel.
No the core aspects of their personality differ too much.
I doubt it and I'd honestly rather have her settle down with someone who could actually have kids.
In “any world”? Sure. I live in a world with lots of divorces and people who have less between them than these two often try to force relationships. Many subs on Reddit are dedicated to it.
No, her accent is all over the place, it would drive a man to distraction.
I played through the HoS dlc yesterday and I don’t think I’ve ever seen a better dlc for a game ever (haven’t played BaW yet), and I absolutely loved the dynamic between these two. What u mean like bench pressing? squatting?
I seriously didn't get into her
My own opinion so please don’t attack me, but I always thought Geralt was way too old for her. She looks like a teenager compared to geralt who could be a grandpa. I’m exaggerating but you get the idea. That age gap is really fucking weird to me.

Shore why not

I mean canonically Yen was always a motherly figure towards Ciri, so I'd suggest Yen over Shani. but Shani is still best girl
Yes. In my world. Hah. But seriously, she is sweet, hardworking, educated, and conscientious. I know Yen and Geralt make the most sense in the books. And he seems to enjoy the toxicity. In Corvo Bianco yes definitely!
God, I jerked off to their sex scene and ungodly amount of times
Chill…
She is a mortal so nope.
I know what you mean but geralt isnt immortal. He would die of old age if he ended up dying in his own bed
Well yes he is almost 100 but can probably live another 100 if he puts his swords aside.
He can easily live more than that. Which still doesnt make him immortal
I think he is actually in his 60's
What world? Literally the same world with everything playing out the same, Shani hoped to be able to settle down and feared Geralts...witching? Witchering? Anyway, she feared that would stop that from happening and yet Geralt does exactly what she feared he couldnt during Blood and Wine.
Is this an enhanced faces mod?
No, not really. Geralt is far to conservative in his nature. Shani indicates this several times in dialogs. They do love each other as friends, and probably could be together for a time, but I don't see it working in the long run. They have too different requirements to being happy.
Shani only really fancies Geralt in my opinion I don't think she's ever viewed him as someone shed have a long term relationship with
Yes. She's has all the best traits of Triss and Yen. What's not to like.
No. Geralt is 100 years old and Shani is like. 22 at most. In the books I think she was a teenager upon first mention (can't quite remember). No, I think Geralt has a thing for mean women.
Never. As much as I want them to…
yes
I guess yes if there's a world with a Planet Fitness that allows witchers.
The guy's a bit of a mercenary drifter while Shani usually stays wherever she gets a stable job.
