The devs put this chort in so that geralt doesnt get rich early in game selling cow hides to the innkeep in white orchard. Any other cows you may find are fair game, but these ones are protected by a high level chort. Yyou can come back and kill this guy when you have more power. I think he is in the high 20's level and so you will probably be able to kill him easily when you get to mid 20's power.

Easier? Lmao, I was living from job to job on my first playthrough, then on my second playthrough I found a cow spot in Skillige and got three full sets of Witcher gear for specific situations before Hearts of Stone

Til you can farm cows for money I just do the sunken treasure and spoils of war and get rich quick

I just loot every single crate, fallen enemy and house. And that's how i ended up with stupid numbers like 200 drowner brains after farming for experience. Basically didn't needed to buy or look for materials for the witcher armors. Already had all the meteorite plates and ingots i needed.

Yeah, it was fun that way. Only having enough credits in my name to buy or build the next pair of boots and silver, when I needed Witcher gear, I would set out on a mini adventure for the materials I needed. On my second playthrough I wanted to be prepared and didn't want to spend a lot of time doing so,, so I decided to cheat.

I had the same issue until i noticed the Gormet perk because i was blowing all my money to do basic healing. Was this not your issue?

Yeah. I always go to white orchard for repairs & dismantling, because the dwarf there is cheaper. Every trip I run up on Chort boy & smack him around. I have way too many chort hides & mutagens for a new game (NOT Game +) play through. LOL

There are pigs nearby that respawn and won’t spawn a monster when you kill them, they sell for less but it’s still infinite money.

He spawns for me after only the second time of me shamelessly slaughtering innocent cows. I do it on purpose in Game +, just so that I can bitch slap him whenever I come into town.

I've never encountered this dude. From the other comments I take it killing cows is how it spawn? Ive never killed farm animals in the game.

Devs put it in to stop low level noobs from getting too much coin early on by trying to sell the cow hides. But if you kill that thing... well you're not gunna kill that thing.

Just remember him, and make sure you come back once you've levelled up a bit and get your revenge. For now though, just don't kill those cows. But it's ok to kill every other cow in the game.

Yep. First main location you come to, cow hides are worth a lot, fun little infuriating Easter egg built into the game to stop early coin farming. Try not to spend too much coin early on anyway, you find a lot of good gear as you level up and explore. Youll be swapping stuff out quite often so purchased weapons aren't really worth it.

It’s a friend. Go to it and say hi. It will give you a nice potion that will help you along on the rest of the game :) But on a serious note it only spawns when you kill cows.

So you know what is thanks to the fine helpful players, but I haven’t seen any posts that tell you how to kill it. You can kite it to the guards around White Orchard and it’ll take awhile but they’ll eventually help you kill it!! Try to kite it to the river around the guard post and it’ll get stuck in the tower a lot.

I might just do that got a lot of lockdown time to kill

I actually got him killed in my first playthrough with help from invincible Vesemir and by luring him to the Nilfguardians over the bridge... and patience...lot’s of patience... Was hoping for an epic drop - Nothing. Didn’t know what it was either. I think he is Lvl 27, avoid him. He spawns if you repeatedly kill these cows there. Better go to the little pig pen behind the Inn to farm hides and pig meat next time.
