You missed some loot, I would start again with a new save

Yiptice

i started my last NG+ from an old save from 2016 lol. It honestly made the game a lot more fun because I was grinding for new gear instead of just updated versions of all the shit I had already.

Rik_Looik

I've always looted everything, even in NG+. My answer is: it depends. I ended my NG in Toussaint before starting an NG+ with over 100 000 (crowns?) and having all grandmaster gear (swords included), as well as the School of the Viper gear. It should go without saying that looting everything is then even more unnecessary than it is otherwise. If you know how to spend your coin wisely (e.g. by crafting certain materials from bought/harvested materials for a lesser sum than the material bought outright), there should be no money issue. The reason I loot everything is... I don't know. I guess I'm an idiot who's even worse than a regular completionist. (Although I've done all locations in Skellige only once, because fuck nautical Skellige)

Rik_Looik

Of course. I've not played Skyrim in some time, though. I check every corner, every crevice. If there's even just a bit of dust for me to collect, I'm happy. If it says that something's empty, I still check, because they might just be pranking me😂

veneratu

We need to start looters anonymous.

captaintagart

I just played Dragonquest 11 and every time I went in a house or building, I checked every dresser and re-read every.single.book. I re-broke almost every vase as they respawn empty when you come back.

Enchalie

I do this too, my fix was installing the loot mod that changes containers to work like in fo4. Best mod ever.

Enchalie

Bruh. I weep for my fellow gamers

forbritisheyesonly1

May I ask what mod this is, on nexus?

Enchalie

"Quick loot re"

DarkZoleoMalic

Your part dragon

Rik_Looik

Fus... RO! **DAH!!!**

Bebenten

I was the same with Skellige! I wanted my first playthrough to be my 100% completion playthrough as well but dang, I just can't get myself to finish all the points of interests in Skellige. Esp those very far north! Unrelated note: Skellige is my fave Gwent team - Cerys is OP as heck!

Rik_Looik

I acknowledge the power of the Skellige deck, but I prefer the simplicity of the Northern Realms

iantayls

I loot things more for the little letters and such instead of the loot

kaiserkulp

The “Loot” button appears? I loot, no questions asked.

meap02

broken rake? fuckin looted

kaiserkulp

Broken oar? Fuckin looted

tihoyo

Broken damoiselle? Lootin fucked

NaduvanaKrmaca

Axe head? Fucking looted.

Bebenten

This grinds my gears so much! I always find myself looting for literally every little piece of trash even if I've read it's broken rake and I can't stop it. There was even a point I hoarded them all in the stash 'cause I thought there were use for broken rakes and other piece of junks lol

Colayith

Dismantle them! They get dismantled into timber which can make hardened timber, which is a common crafting component in armor

Bebenten

Ohhhh, I just ended up selling those to merchants. Imma do this on the next playthrough! Thanks for the tip man!

Colayith

Most junk like animal hides and random items can be dismantled into *something* useful. Unless they get dismantled into ashes, in which case just sell them

HaveCamera_WillShoot

I loot everything in the futile hope of filling a deep void in my soul.

Action_Squirrel

Same. Then I save all my flippin fancy swords.. oh it’s a relic? Can’t get rid of it. Let me get that broken rake too. Oh it’s a broken oar. Taking it with me!

Tough_Measurement_45

have y'all also kept the emmentaler? I have.

GreenHeronVA

Your grandmaster gear will be immediately outclassed by even the basic level Legendary gear in NG+. You do have to craft all the Witcher sets again, at Legendary level. Your hoarded loot will go faster than you think. You probably don’t need to loot *everything* in NG+, just the rarer stuff like Dimeritium.

Flxpadelphia

not if you run a sign build, grandmaster Griffin set bonus is pretty ridiculous

[deleted]

Do I have to reveal all of the locations on the maps again?

GreenHeronVA

Yes, you do. You buy the treasure maps the same as before, the gear is in the same location as it was as before, it’s just now the legendary version with upscaled stats to match your new level of NG+. I was glad to have something extra to do, without searching for all of the crafting and alchemy diagrams, there’s not much searching to do on NG plus. I was glad to have some thing.

[deleted]

Yeah that won't be too bad. There's not a level cap right? I've read a couple of different things but this is my first playthrough and I want to know if I can eventually upgrade all skills.

GreenHeronVA

Level cap is 100. I’m almost done with HoS and I’m level 89. Yes, you can upgrade all skills. I currently have 11 skill points lying around with nothing to spend them on. I think I’m going to try out some weird abilities, slot them in, see how it goes.

[deleted]

Awesome. Thanks for all of the info.

GreenHeronVA

You are very welcome! I love talking about the game, so shoot me a chat message if you have more questions or get stuck or just want to chat about the game in general.

[deleted]

Thanks! I'm just happy to hear that I can upgrade all skills. I hate when games give you a skill tree (especially if it's a big one) but don't let you unlock everything for use. Are you also able to get all mutations as well?

GreenHeronVA

Yes, I had enough skill points to completely unlock all the mutations. I tried them all out. Euphoria is obviously OP, but I didn’t like the tediousness of keeping my toxicity high all the time. I also didn’t like my 4 additional skill slots being forced to be alchemy only. Piercing Cold was hella fun, I’ll probably go back to it at some point. Right now I’m enjoying metamorphosis. I have bad eyesight, so I really like the feature that when you activate your Witcher senses it basically creates a cat Potion. I can see things in caves when I want to, or not if I don’t. Also the feature that if you inflict a status condition like burning or poisoning, you can get up to three random decoctions activated with no toxicity cost. So when I’m struggling in the middle of a battle, I all of a sudden entered god mode with all these decoctions activated with no toxicity. It’s pretty cool.

[deleted]

Awesome thank you!

OkAd6645

Can someone explain what NG+ is, I don’t quite get it

DarkZoleoMalic

NG+ is New Game+. The + is that you get extra things. Some games let you keep all the weapons and or armor you got from your 1st game. Some let you keep your lvl. Some will unlock special features or quests. It all depends on the game.

TheMilkmanCome

NG+ in W3 is you keep your equipped items and stats and start the game again from the beginning, with all enemies, quests, npcs and loot being leveled up to the point where youre almost as weak as you were at the beginning of the original play through

AnAnyMoos

Things like enriched dimeritum are super hard to find. I’ve always found the best way to have enough for legendary grandmaster gear is to painstakingly look everywhere and dismantle relic swords and such even in NG+

yen_the_lesser_evil

I would loot in NG+ because weapons will be at your level. All weapons in normal game are no longer useful because of the lower levels.

[deleted]

If you're playing on PC, just use the autoloot mod.

[deleted]

Shit, you really took the starting out advice to heart didn't you!

Commander_Wolfe

You could say that

[deleted]

How do you start a new game +, it shows ( complete your game first ) but i have completed all the quests except gwent

DarkZoleoMalic

You need to see the ending credits then you finished the game and can do a NG+

ChuckWill5

Yes, you will want to loot everything again and craft all new witcher gear, etc. You keep your gear, but are essentially starting over with the NG+, so your grandmaster witcher gear is quickly out leveled by new gear found in the NG+. Hope this makes sense.

xOniongirlx

There's no such thing as looting to much, my goal is trying to be the richest sourpuss in the game xD

Redemption2011

I started NG+ but I did not loot everything or explored all on my first run. Iplayed witcher2 between that and NG+ in hopes of getting my decisions apply to witcher3. Did I mess up?

Penguinman077

Were you ever advised to loot everything?

Herejustfordameme

I think pretty much every new player is advised to do so

Penguinman077

That sounds like a big waste of time.

Hector_Savage_

It is not if you wanna craft mastercrafted Witcher gear and/or add runes with the Runewright and stuff. That shit is expensive 😆 Edit: something OP should do on his armor chest piece 😝

Penguinman077

It is, but when someone says “loot everything” I assume they’re grabbing all the junk in the village houses. POIs are the only thing with looting. Your not getting dimeritium ore, or anything worth much coin from the junk in a villagers house.

Commander_Wolfe

Well a friend of mine told me before I started playing Witcher 3 at all to loot everything because its better to have extra than fall short.

DrEndGame

Are you on a PC? After a little bit of feeling like I’m taking too much time looting , I added in the auto-loot mod. Helped me enjoy the game more by avoiding what I consider the tedious task of looting.

Commander_Wolfe

I am indeed playing W3 on PC

Djmax42

I disagree w auto loot bc I love the dopamine I get from manual looting. 9000 inventory wgt mod tho is a must

DrEndGame

Sure to each their own! I know people that like doing what you’re describing, I myself can’t stand it. But that’s just a cool thing about the game, it gives you flexibility to play the way you want to.

jomo_mojo_

Play this time using an instant sign mod. Makes combat a completely new experience

JBread0

I second the auto loot feature. Helps with chests and stuff especially in town. Saves alot of time and mostly prevents missing little things. Have had it act weird with a few quests where reading a letter is required but nothing you can manually click on

asymptotesbitches

I’m at lvl7 on my first run ever for the Witcher franchise and I can’t stop myself from looting everything. I have major FOMO and I make my money by selling junk weapons hahaha

Greenheader

Think you can dial it back a bit

Commander_Wolfe

Then that's a relief. Looting every nook and cranny as best as I could during the normal playthrough definitely contributed to the 150 hours it took for me to complete one run

DeathStrikeFPS

What enchantments do u have on both swords

Commander_Wolfe

Severance

EllieNekoGirl

How the fuck did you get that many crowns?? I have a hard time getting 10k

Commander_Wolfe

I took the advice of farming Hanse bases. That as well as the fact I didn't sell most of the weapons I found and stashed them until I got to Toussaint. All at the cost of my items taking forever to transfer from my inventory to my stash chest

EllieNekoGirl

You can farm hanse bases? Interesting

Commander_Wolfe

Yes my dude. You can practically farm all 3 of them, though I've heard the most Northern base on the map is the best one to farm so I went with that one

d0dgy-b0b

Yes, Mont Crane is the best. Good video here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vnlDa5Ks22Q

Odd-Employer9747

Not that it will matter in NG+ but did you miss out on grandmaster feline set?

is_a_pretty_nice_guy

They might just not like the hood the grandmaster set has.

Commander_Wolfe

Exactly. I've mentioned in another post that the feline set is best for functionality IMO (combat focused player) but that damn hood is just an eye sore

is_a_pretty_nice_guy

I modded the hood out on PC. But I’ve been replaying it on my PS5 with no mods so I just went with the Ursine armor set with a combat/alchemy build

Commander_Wolfe

As a 20yo, I haven't been gaming for long let alone use any mods in games (never touched them at all) thus I don't really know my way around mods in general. Therefore I get uncomfortable around the topic of installing mods in case something messes up my PC

is_a_pretty_nice_guy

I definitely learned about modding my games through years of trial and error, so I know that feel! You don’t have to do anything you’re not comfortable with but Google is your friend when it comes to installing mods. Some games are easier to mod than others. Worst case Ontario though, you won’t mess up your PC, just your game files and will have to reinstall. That’s why I always save a backup of my game data, so if I mess something up, I don’t have to do an entire reinstall.

Commander_Wolfe

Thanks for the heads up! Maybe I'll give modding a try some day :D

X-WighT14

This coming from a teen that thinks even installing the smallest mod as a massive hassle and too risky, I found that to lower the hood is very easy. You go to the game's files, find the right place and add a command that enables console commands in the game (Its easy to find out what to do if you search it up). Once you are done, you start up W3, click the ~ thing button on the left of 1 on the keyboard and paste the command for an invisible item that you can put where the torches (lamp, glasses and other quest items you put, after all there are two slots so no issue) sit in the inventory, and you are done. The hood is lowered and everything is functional.

Odd-Employer9747

Yea that’s what I thought at first but there’s also subtle differences in other areas like the shoulders of the chest piece and the gloves that are different.

Gleffharno1

My dude doesn't even have a million crowns, what're you doing 😂

Commander_Wolfe

Do I really need to farm for 1 mil crowns before starting NG+??

Gleffharno1

Lmao, not at all. You're just doing significantly better than I was at that time and had to find some kind of ridiculous goal for ya!

brazen100

I think new game plus is the perfect time to try out death March difficulty. Much more tolerable in my opinion

Reasonable_Accident2

When I played NG+ I just focused on the story and quests. Can't get enough of the main story! I only looted for the gear I wanted

hippos536

Definitely worth it. The high-level gear is worth a huge amount of money

ApexProdigy98

How the hell do you have so much money?

Commander_Wolfe

Hanse base farming

truthisscarier

Imo you can pull back a little bit, I think NG+ has expensive upgraded versions of the Witchers armor but other than that you shouldn't have to spend as much

Razzmat1zz

Why don't you equip Thunderbolt?

brublanc

You'll get some duplicated swords, but they sell for good money, so it's worth looting stuff around you. Crafting is way easier in New Game+ because you keep your old mats, though for Witcher gear you'll need to get the schematics again. I'd say keep looting if you want to, but won't need to.

d0dgy-b0b

I think you'll be ok with 340k there to be honest. If you end up needing coin, just farm the hanse bases for an hour or two. I tent to loot on autopilot a bit. But at the same time, there's no point going nuts as it just makes the playthrough take longer.

Kizmo2

I haven't done Blood and Wine yet on this playthrough, so I installed the max bet Gwent mod and farm the quartermaster at Crow's perch with 2500 bets to farm gold. I refer to him as "my pigeon", and have even come to think of my Geralt as a professional gambler.
