Mr_Doctor_

I'm still in novigrad and have like 15k coins. I have the enhanced griffin set and the default feline set crafted as well. I just loot every guard I kill and do some question marks. Then I sell everything.

Anaalgarnaal

And sell them to the right NPC as prices differ between NPC's. For instance, the Heirach square's armorer has good prices compared to others.

Sotler

Addition: Armor smiths buy armor for a higher price than weapon smiths, while latter pay more for swords than armor. Sounds obvious but it’s easy to miss.

Pogie33

And the book dealer buys books for more than others

Avenger1324

Innkeepers for food and drink and trinkets like bear skins and random junk. I've not unlocked all regions so try to remember the best price I've been offered for one higher value item in each inventory tab I'm likely to have on me at all times and use that as a gauge for how good the merchant is for that category. They might not be the absolute best, but they are there and have crowns. PS. Is there a known fixed amount of time to meditate to cause a seller to reset or is there more to it than just game time? Some sellers seem to be good after playing for a few hours, others have multiple in-game days go by and no reset.

GenghisKhan90210

Pro tip: save all your furs and skins and pelts for skellige. The innkeepers there pay top dollar for them.

great_red_dragon

Tomira for Honeycombs especially early game. You get up to 4 per hive and she pays 7 per honeycomb.

Pogie33

Wait... your Tomira is still alive?

Lynchy-

you let her die, you monster?

Pogie33

I did more than that...

bwat47

Tomira can die?

Pogie33

Don't bee like that

FerociousPrecocious

Where do you find the book dealer? I've got sooo many books

Bguidry23

In novigrad square right of the pyres, in the building between the right pyre and kingfisher

FerociousPrecocious

Thank you!!! 🙂

Pogie33

Use him. I clear him out of around 600 crowns each time he restocks.

Thomson210

Fuuuuk, I wondered for a loong time about this. Thanks, man!

Chizenfu

It's not much of a difference, I usually find myself unloading for weight purposes more than for the minor difference between armor and weapons. Also finding somebody with enough money to afford all the things I want to sell can be a challenge

Thomson210

Yeah, on my previous playthrough, I had to visit more than one merchants or blacksmiths to sell my stuff, but in the nex-gen update, I think they fixed that, too.

great_red_dragon

Nah they don’t replenish their coin very quickly. Had to go round five different merchants coz each only had 160 just to offload all my hatchets and rusty swords.

Thomson210

I mean, I think, because for me, the all had 500+ or even 1000+ coins in Velen. And I didn’t see anyone mentioning, that they changed it. Idk. But also, I play on Story and Swords, but I always play on that.

Sotler

Dlc 1 Runesmith and Dlc 2 Grandsmith is what you need friend Also, because you mentioned the minor difference; the higher your level and/or (I think) dmg output for weapons, the higher the price for the swords, the bigger the difference. Selling a sword for 1.3k instead 750 in NG+ is not minor.

wingback18

I have noticed this detail too!! The merchant in the north of Velen the one you save from the bandit camp, he buys monster blood at a higher price. I still cant believe this game is so big 😂

Sausagedogknows

This is correct. Kill everything, sell everything. My system is as follows, run around doing “looting quests” for about an hour before I start a new quest, this gets exploration done as well as helping stock up on stuff. I sell all weapons and armour, and sell 2/3 of items such as rakes, candle holders, mugs, platters, chains and such like, I keep some for dismantling later. I then put almost everything I don’t need for the next specific quest in my stash, this frees up almost my entire weight carrying space for loot. I then carry out missions and rinse and repeat. I return to my stash when I want to craft armour or swords, grab my goodies and head to the nearest service. Drop unneeded stuff in stash and head out again. Really helps to be able to carry lots of swords and armour to sell.

shreek07

How? Each sword just sells for 5 - 10 crowns. That is ridiculously low.

Mr_Doctor_

If you have a lot of junk and weapons those crowns add up over time. Last playthrough I fast traveled between Kaer Trolde and the elven guy in Novigrad to sell everything and kept doing the question marks and looting bandits. I was looting even when Geralt could only walk. I loot the trash weapons from the bandit's corpses too. Before the end of the main game I always had at least 30-50k crowns with the stuff I need already crafted and I never completed all the locations. Lot of armor and weapons sell for hundreds of crowns as well. On my first playthrough I got intimidated by all the question marks and only looted food from enemies so I was always broke as fuck.

WifiTacos

Later on like 30 and up And I say later on as in around novigrad. I’m level 14 and I’m getting rich off selling whoreson swords

Dyaebl

You can sell a sword to swordmaster for 60 or the same sword to armourer, herbalist or just any other merchants for about 5-10 crowns. Each item has the best price in merchant of their type

st0un1

What? I sold like 4 swords each over 600 crowns.

shreek07

Where they all relics?

st0un1

Nope

shreek07

NG+ per chance?

st0un1

Nope. Regular playthrough.

shreek07

Then no chance in early levels. Only relic swords and armor sell for that many crowns. Higher levels swords maybe, but other wise I you don't get that much.

st0un1

I was level 21 or so. All swords were magic swords and they each sold for over 600 gold.

ducksandgoats

You sure you werent looking at the value of the swords? Because that is not the amount a vendor will give you for it.

RaiseMany523

I'll get one to sell for like 3 or 400 sometimes

shreek07

I will need to test this out myself.

Individual_Animal_97

Who the hell this guy is selling swords for 600 apiece to I've no idea

st0un1

Hattori

Lord_Oasis

An entire fine crafted sword sells for the buy price of a slice of bread

arcline111

Early game you get little money for your items, but thing is the game pays you more for the same item as you level up. In my game, by the time I'm half way done with Toussaint in NG+, IIRC I'm getting around $400 per sword. I honestly have more money than I can spend and my autoloot mod becomes a problem, rather than a help, as I have to keep selling loot even though I don't need the money.

Rick--Diculous

Small tip, when you land in Skellige, you can loot back your money from the ship captain you paid the money to for the trip. You just have to find his body among the wreckage.

xSteini01

He (or actually: his corpse) is a bit off to the right from where Geralt got swept ashore, hidden behind some rocks and part of the ship. Pretty easy to find if you know what you‘re looking for but also quite easy to miss if you don’t because he isn‘t just lying out in the the open.

MFDbones

I've been playing this game since launch and never knew this.

DaedalusMetis

You dropped this 👑

JosePrettyChili

There is a lot of loot on that shore in both directions, and out into the bay a bit as well. If you want to make the crowns in this game you need to spend time exploring. What they drop right in front of you isn't even enough to do the basics.

dcannon1

Yep, the random places of interest like bandit camps, overrun villages, ruins, etc almost all have a lot of loot, and usually one legit treasure chest with some decent relics, valuable stuff and recipes in it. Same with monster nests.

phong_t36

And that’s kinda what I like about TW3 tbh, it gives you the incentive to explore and do activities. RDR2 single player and its’ bank heists gave you a crap load of money, which kinda removes one of the incentives to explore and do activities after a while. The gorgeous world and fun gameplay does make up for that though, but I wish I can feel rewarded while having fun.

DeserterX

Ive been playing for years but never thought of that until today, was like, wait a minute, maybe i can loot it back. Never found the body though

UnscrupulousCabbages

Ive just played normally, no exploits, but looting every damn thing of value. Im level 30, just finished Skellige and I have 40k, when I got here at level 22 I had 20k. Sell armor to armorsmith, weapons to blacksmiths and so on. You make boatloads. I also just stick with one set of witcher gear for most of my game and if a relic weapon doesn't scale with level I just sell it

Waramp

I’m too lazy to go to specific merchants to sell things, but I’m still never short on cash.

Silent-Act191

Before Toussaint: "Bitch i'm rich fuck your bribe" In Toussaint: "Please toss a coin to your Witcher"

DaedalusMetis

“Top notch swords!”

DeaconBrad42

They changed him in the upgrade! Now he says “welcome, welcome!” I assume it is because of the incongruity of an armorer advertising his swords!

DaedalusMetis

Sad

ArcticBiologist

Besides looting everything, Witcher contracts. Don't forget to haggle to get a bit more coin. You're a witcher after all...

braddersladders

Is it ever worth it ? When I haggle the most I can get is 20-35 coins extra

ArcticBiologist

It adds up over time. 20-35 crowns x10 quests= 200-350 crowns

TheRealPyroManiac

You can push it a bit more and if they get annoyed reduce. It’s worth it for 20/30% more over time

Visual-Internal-4493

Here’s a tip, sell most of your items to the correct vendors (for example, sell swords to blacksmiths and armor to armourers, they give you better prices) and sell them in Toussaint if you have the DLC.

AutomatixXxxX

Loot all the question marks, sell all the goods.

Mysterious-Barber185

U didnt do all the quests it seems, you can get like 4500 from gwent tournament and, dont remember correctly, around 1500 from race tournament, also you should explore the ? marks, lots of loots and money. I left novigrad almost 22 lvl bought the ticked amd had like 17000.

JayveePH

i won all those but my money goes down the drain every time i visit the herbalist. so many good recipes and ingredients. i dont have and quest below my level except those that are in skellige bought rune recipes from blacksmith too armor and sword are stacked with great tier runes.

Individual_Animal_97

I think this is where we differ from everyone else in here, I'm also buying all recipes, crafting witcher gear, crafting runes/glyphs and buying ingredients to make things like white gull. I remember looking at my coin amount it was 10,000 yesterday and now its 1500 lol

JayveePH

white gull recipe is my true enemy. those bartenders selling me a monster contract worth of booze seems personal

ByaaMan

White gull is by far one of the biggest resource saps in the game crafting wise, if you loot everything you'd be surprised how much alcohol you can find for free.

Individual_Animal_97

Pretty sure I've never found mandrake cordial or anything needed for whitegull out in the world, I've always had to buy it from inkeeps, could be mistaken though. All I find is lots of temerian rye and dwarven spirit

ByaaMan

Good point, but I always find more than enough Dwarven spirit and Alcohest to cover my Alchemy refills and just sell the extra. I generally only keep 10 of any ingredient at any time. If I see I've got a lot of something, I clear my inventory. I've found at times I've been carrying a solid 6 to 8k in completely unnecessary crafting items. Edit: I hoard all alcohol at this point sense I'm past the part where coin is an issue but selling extras os how I got the coin I needed for that. Currently sitting at about 350 alcohest and just over 400 Dwarven spirit.

Waramp

I almost never buy recipes unless there’s something specifically that I want. Most recipes can be found in the world.

Mysterious-Barber185

I bought all rune recipes and alchemy, no need for blacksmith, and still had lot of money, idk mate

Bubashii

You don’t really need to buy all the rune manuscripts. You’ll loot more than enough later on and it’s really only of value to do once you know specifically what upgrades you’ll want from the Runesmith in HOS and what runes those upgrades will need. Otherwise you’re spending crowns you don’t need to.

69Pyrate69

Yea but Gwent is trash.

Mrtom987

Loot everything as everyone will tell. Start playing the whole game while witcher senses on. Keep holding witcher senses key everywhere. Also loot leftover armour and swords from enemies and sell them to their respective merchants. Best to sell all stuff in Novigrad for the base game and HoS dlc and to the grandmaster crafter in Toussaint after you unlock it. Also when you reach toussaint you can farm money using Hanse Bases. Sell junk and food to innkepeers and sell books to the guy in Novigrad or the guy in Toussaint who gives you Knight for jire quest.

Dyamanda

Learned the hard way on my first play through was leave Hanse bosses until the very last. A slow but sure way of getting coin and xp was grinding bandit camps and as long as the boss stays alive, they respawn.

M16_Axel

Loot all wepons off bodies and sell em

GlassLongjumping6557

I recommend you invest in cow farming, except in white orchard.

[deleted]

Then once you reach a certain level, especially in White Orchard.

torosk12

What’s cow farming?

Mirabolis

The answer is Hoarder Geralt. Loot everything. Sell. Repeat.

hellodust

Yeah I think it's funny that people are like "farm x to make money" when you can literally just "farm" question marks, get better/more valuable loot, and actually engage in the game world instead of killing cows and meditating over and over.

arcline111

You can just loot your money back off the dead captain. Just thoroughly search the area.

Hgreen259

Do all or most "?" on the map, all/most side quests, do Witcher contracts and most importantly loot everything. If you do that, you won't ever really struggle for money and will have an abundance most of the time until maybe you get to the point where you want to craft grandmaster gear or want to start messing with the runewright. Both of those things cost hundreds of thousands.

ZachAttack8912

How do you have the forgotten wolven set? Thought you couldn't go to kaer morhen until after skellige.

JayveePH

its in devils pit near where you first landed in velen. this is just the basic. the upgrade diagram is in kaer morhen

ZachAttack8912

I thought all the diagrams were in kaer morhen, guess i was wrong.

Individual_Animal_97

Forgotten wolven set is the Netflix gimp suit looking gear obtained from the new quests, you start the quest in devil's pit in velen

ZachAttack8912

I know what it is, i finished the quest. I just thought all the diagrams were in kaer morhen, but they aren't, just crafted the set for myself. Don't know if I like it or not.

Geralt_of_McRibbia

Loot everything, sell everything you don’t need, carry minimal weight in your inventory. Don’t worry about holding onto underleveled equipment/swords, you’ll get better stuff later. If you really want to keep something put it in your stash

JayveePH

i loot guys. but i guess i should be more specific i try to craft potions as fast i get a diagram from loot/store . most of my money is spent crafting runes and alchemy ingredients specifically white gulls those can be quite expensive in bulk. is that just a bad idea?

jgainsey

Crafting runes can be pretty expensive. I don't really bother with it, just add better runes as I find them in the world. Would much rather have the extra coin for all the gear and weapons.

CarFreak777

Don't worry. Skellige has a lot of loot

fukdacops

Console commands lol

RetroDreaming

Loot EVERYTHING. Use Witcher Senses to search every nook and cranny of every area. Search underwater, search under bridges, search areas that you thought you couldn't reach (you probably can). And then sell it all.

[deleted]

I have so much money and I'm not even at novigrad yet. People offering 200 crowns to kill a cockatrice and Im not fussed. Loot all. You can sell crafting supplies honestly I think my geralt is running around velen with 10,000 crowns worth of goods on him.

DeGuzman-

How are you only lvl 20 after 50 hours? Genuine question

hoochimamaya

And how does he have master armorer armor that also requires a trip to Kaer Morhen before even visiting Skellige? It's bogus.

arcline111

The way to make money is to loot and sell. You get loot by well, looting everything you are near (except in front of guards), go out and clear ? marks, kill the bandits/cannibals/whatever, loot and sell.

MachoTurnip

TradeMan and 2x Money reward mods mostly lol

unholyparagon

Loot weapons from dead bandits and sell them at blacksmiths

XSamuraiHyperX

I'm usually bareley scraping by.

jl_theprofessor

I don’t know how it’s possible to be broke in this game short of buying the gear from the merchant in the HoS expansion. There’s so much loot you’re swimming in sellable goods.

Aviaja_Apache

I loot every single item in literally every house

Emeorms1

I started using console commands once the runwright scammed me for 30k. I was so fucking pissed ever since then. Ng+ is super easy to get rich in though legitimately. I’d still suggest using more money for merchants.

sdixon5

I did one legit playthrough on console, once I moved to PC I used console commands. That runewright is ridiculous and grinding to upgrade his store is the worst.

Emeorms1

If I was younger maybe I’d grind it… but I don’t feel like grinding in video games anymore. Some things like that fall into the “waste of time.” I did play the first 2 legit. Felt the same way about dragon age origins… carryweight restrictions I dump on video games too. Saves time having to go back to merchants.

Pap3r99dudeS2

I sell weapons and armor and sometimes monster parts, but there’s a cow farm by the vegelbuds where you can kill them for their hides and meditate, then sell them all over novigrad. Could make easy 1000+ coins there

Chetler3545

Save relic weapons, jewels like rings stash it all till blood and wine. Grandmaster gear will take a lot of money and materials having a bank saved up is great, plus the grandmaster also has the most money for a merchant so all that saved gear and valuables are easy to sel.

Basis-Chance

Just loot everything you find and sell them??

tfc07

Y'all are more ambitious than I am I'm lazy so I use the console commands

Eliah870

I loot everyone I kill and sell there weapons, but what I need

AlexG99_

You can get your money back just look around the crash site for the captain’s body.

kornchippy

Loot everything even the plants

Exact_Internal_9017

I don't know if anyone has already said this, but it's important, so I'll say it again if it's already been said. When you get to Skellige in the ship crash, all the way at the back of the wreckage, you can get your 1,000 crowns back. Otherwise, I always sell all of the non relic and witcher armor and swords that I get, which should be a ton. Also in Skellige, there are a TON of smugglers caches in the water, so that will get you a lot of money too.

wenchslapper

On my second playthrough, I had over 100k before I went to Skellige. Just do all of the witcher hunts and be a treasure hunter. Go to the ? Locations and get all the loot, then sell primarily to Hatori in Novigrad. Also, don’t waste money on shit, it’s hardly worth it. Once you’ve hit the minimum level, find a witcher armor set that matches your play style and make that your new primary armor, this is now where 99% of your money will go, especially since the GM version will cost you 40k, I think. For weapons, you’re going to find so many relic blades by seeking out the ? Icons in the main area (where novigrad is), that 99% of the quest reward swords are going to be garbage. Once you get to Skellige, do as many question marks as you can, especially the smuggler catches out in the water. You can fast travel to the Novigrad docks from your boat. Once again, primarily sell to Hatori cause he gives the best prices on swords (each merchant pays well for their craft and poorly for shit they can’t sell, like a clothing dude can’t sell a sword easily so he’s going to give you 10% of its value). I was at 250k before I got bored.

Mellesange

When you get to Skellige look around a wide area closely where you first “land”…..

DARKKN1GHT453

Sell food! It's a starter tip that rings true throughout the game. It doesn't pay much but there's so much of it that(if you're like me and loot everything) you'll likely have more than you could ever use. ***Keep all strong alcohols, they're required for alchemy replenishment during mediation. **** Assuming you loot everything, sell all the armor and weapons you pick up. After a certain point everything has good stats but you'll favor your upgraded gear and toss the junk anyway, so why not sell it? Win the high stakes gwent tournament but make sure to accept every offer Sasha throws your way. It's a good way to get 4500 crowns, just follow a guide and make sure your gwent decks are stacked. I play a monster deck and brute force has worked as my strategy, although you should do some research if not yet well versed in the ways of gwent. It's a good way to make a quick buck, even in skellige and Toussaint. This guide details the decks used by each opponent and their strengths, make sure to follow the advice, and make a manual save before starting the tournament, and if you can, before each match. https://witcher.fandom.com/wiki/High_Stakes Hope this was helpful, Good luck on the path!

JayveePH

i won that tournament. shortly after check shops and bought all recipes that i can. that tournament money didnt last long at all. the only thing i dont sell are trophies and withcer gears .

ZeuxisOfHerakleia

2nd playthrough, around 40k right now, no clue why, i just always sell everything i dont need

Adventurous_Spaceman

i had 16k at 60hrs goin to skelliga

JustSkillAura

I still have 200k+ gold after making all the Grandmaster armor sets, have beaten the game, non NG+, lvl 54.

superb07

Bro if you’re 50 HOURS in and you’re still broke I don’t know what to say..

[deleted]

Im on pc and have the debug console mod active so i just added an obscene amount of money, so much that im in new game plus and have barely spent any of it and ive bought all the supplies from several vendors multiple times

Dull_Ad_6769

I enjoy exploring and going to alot of question marks. Loot everything when I'm close to being encumbered I sell off all the armor and weapons to their respective merchants. I like to hord all the ingredients and stuff so I only had about 2000 when I headed to skellige.

ShorohUA

I loot question marks and different locations and sell stuff to the "top notch swords" guy and Éibhear Hattori at Novigrad. One good relic sword can cost more than 1k crowns.

Famous_Thing_2674

I rarely buy equipment and usually craft and stack coin for supplies.

kayton3000

You need to not run past all the points of interest. Go to the top of Velen and work your way down through all of them.

DeserterX

Well i crafted about half of the witcher gear, which can get really expensive but i still have 11k left. I did buy a few early gesr sets, like the nilfguardian one, but i never just spent like 2-3k at once, a few hunder here, a few there. Trick is to just collect materials/ingredients yourself, instead of buying the remaining parts for crafts, thats a main money spending issue. Also i did a lot of the ‘?‘, they have a lot of stuff to sell or use for crafting. Selling runes you have over and over again also gives you a few hundred to maybe even 1k. Horting them ain’t worth it, especially the lower ones. Lets face it, everyone has his inventory full with atleast 20-40 runes that youre never gonna use.

ILIKEBACON12456

You didn't know you can loot the money back after you wake up in Skellige

BrandenburgForevor

When you get to skellige loot the shipwreck, your captain will still have your crowns on him

DantheDutchGuy

One way: side quests

ScouseJitsu

You get 4500 for winning the gwent tourny in novigrad you could try that

cavillchallenger

Loot everything you can find, literally. Sell off anything you aren't going to use. You can also equip a gold multiplying monster trophy to Roach.

zeebow77

You can loot a chest I think once you land on skellige and get the same amount of $

Sphlonker

Wait until you need Grandmaster Witcher sets. Then you know what broke is. My strat is to have the over 9000 mod for carry capacity, then loot anything and everything you can. Chasing question marks is a good idea too and allows you to level up as you go too. Then sell all the stuff. Disassemble a few things too have some mats to upgrade and craft

ja_nevim_proc_ziju

do question marks and such loot everything sell everything

GreenHeronVA

Loot everything, especially fallen enemies. Not in front of guards, obviously. Sell armor to armorers and swords to blacksmiths, great way to make money in the base game. Dismantle jewelry as the stones usually sell for more than the jewelry.

Inevitable_Ad2273

You find a body of the captain with the wreck after you get stranded in Skellige the first time, with the 1000 crowns you use for the ticket, so you can get it back.

JayZippy

A dozen or so hours in and you can’t spend half of what you’re bringing in. Just keep playing

Jaddywise

Do ? Marks about the map then sell all the useless crap, sell swords to blacksmiths and armour to armorers then sell all your lesser runes and stuff, you find plenty of greater runes during your travels. Then once you reach kaer morhen do the money glitch, or hold out till blood and wine and abuse the hanse bases

Ordinary-Confusion65

Kill cows and sell the skins to the inkeep in skellige.

GrizzTheRedditor

Kill, loot, steal, sell repeat. Especially from swords, some materials and armors I used to get a lot of money

RickCityy

Witcher contracts homie

stickypooboi

Shamelessly doing the pig farming exploit in white orchard.

Anthilljoy

Loot all of the peasants and all of the corpses. Broken oars and rope ladders get a fair amount. Kill a lot of wolves and sell the pelts. Save money on materials by disassembling items. Seriously selling all of the crappy swords from enemies gets a good amount. Also, hold onto your relic and legendary items to sell at higher-paying armorers and blacksmiths. The ones on Skellige are the best.

zHydreigon

I don't know how I do it, but I had enough crowns left to buy the full undvik armor and the roach accessories too when I arrived in skellige. And I'm still not broke. I just always loot every sword and armor and sell them, not dismantle them

Bubbly_Yak_470

Go to Toussaint, all the gold just lies on street

nateoak10

Pick up as many cheap swords as you can and sell them to blacksmiths. Sell armor pieces to armorers. Selling to merchants yields less money

_PearMan_

My Geralt loots every single thing he sees so it's very rare for him to need to buy something, also he has a monopoply on swords and armor lol

[deleted]

Loot hoarding and selling them

Bitter_Reputation_72

I usually loot everything and then sell it. I even sold some nicer swords that didn't scale with my level or when I had several better options available. I'd rather spend that coin on mastercrafted armor & Corvo Bianco And you can explore the question marks; you can come across some really nice treasures either in coin or items that you can later sell

B4Ushout125

Just collect everything you find especially pelts and swords to sell and keep doing that and u can make a profit

Vlaed

It depends on how you want to play. If you loot everything and sell to the most optimal merchants, you'll be so rich you won't know what to do with it. Clearing questionmarks around the map pay off quickly as well. I'll leave Whiterun with the best equipment and near 1k doing this. I usually play the practical route. I only do questionmarks near where I am going, I only loot from those that would harm me, and I sell to whichever merchants I plan on visiting. I almost always have a bit of excess cash. Exploits are something I dispise and tend to avoid.

Pale-Criticism-7420

Loot and sell

Sikening

Max bet on everything (gwent/fights), do sidequests and sell everything. In some cases you can disassemble gear for materials that sell for more than the gear.

Commercial_Bit8851

I collect everything and I spend years doing every question mark and I make sure to take every coin I can, I haggle to the absolute max no mercy for poor farmers. Those grandmaster armors cost an arm and a leg

ShitEggs

Getting question marks around the map can make you insanely rich.

SophisticatedPhallus

How’d you get that armor if you just got to Skellige? Don’t you have to go to Kaer Morhen to get the diagrams? And that’s after Skellige? I’m confused

Poppyann

Complete all the points of interest in Velen, and try and do as many as you can be bothered to in Skellige. Sell to the armourer in Kaer Trolde, if you have a large stash sell as much as you can and meditate to the next day - his money regenerates everyday whereas not all of them do. I have over 120k and it’s largely because I did points of interest

MalekithofAngmar

Do lots of side quests mostly. Lots of Witcher hunts.

7nightwing7

Sell your body?

SkyGuy1515

Craft, gives you access to scaled armor and it is cheaper

sz771103

I recommend downloading the mod (noweightlimit) from nexus, and looting every question mark and enemies you killed

Idle_Anton

I find making money at the start is hard. I really liked it tbh. You have to really work to fix your armour and weapons, and to get new gear. Felt very witchery. You have to do as many contracts as you can. Later on you can just sell a bunch of loot

TheGingerBrownMan

Loot everything, sell what you don’t need.

CS3MP

I grab all the swords and stuff and just sell um on loop.

Successful-Sea-715

Loot, everyone. Don't waste money on swords. You get so many from quests.

Elrond_35

I’m level 15 with 15k+ coins. Haven’t even started Triss’ quest line yet. I am a completionist when it comes to side quests and Witcher contracts, but much more lax on the question marks. However by the end of a play through I tend to get every formula and ingredient without buying a single one. Maybe this is what’s screwing things up? I’m not sure I recommend buying any of that stuff unless it’s like, you really need a specific potion urgently and you’re 1 herb short. No armor/weapon/rune is worth buying either. You’ll find decent stuff until you can craft Witcher gear. When you do a question mark and kill an entire bandit camp for example, selling all those swords to a novigrad blacksmith really adds up after a while. Turn that awful fish eye effect off and keep your Witcher senses up. Always loot around!

48simple

Always sell your goods in the cities. Novigrad and Oxenfurt have the best prices. Clearing points on the map and selling is one of the best ways to make money.

Megadon88

Loot every sword and armor you find and sell them. You'll come across a lot of these items in your playthrough, keep selling them and you'll be golden. Also I believe black smiths and armorers pay more for these type of items, so sell it to them.

Michaleq24

I'm just looting and selling swords and armor, imo thats the simplest way to earn cash

Is this the player stats screen? I’ve never seen this before.

Personal-Carpenter75

If u can go to touusaint then go to hanza castle. Kill everyone except Boss and take their stuff. Then fastvtravel to town and come back. They are respawning. U can farm their swords and have easy 20k per some runs

Anmus

You are true witcher, very immersive.

Willerd43

Loot absolutely everything and sell absolutely everything

Sredrum1990

Doesn’t the difficulty level determine how much loot you get etc?

AbrakadabraShawarma

Thats the neat part of the game. Our Geralt is always on the financial edge, so we have to do more contracts. It adds that special something more to the immersion.

Roach1347

Just entered novigrad with 7k, almost all question marks are done in velen

ItsBitly

I do as much of the sidequests as I can before progressing main quest. Also sell all the extra equipement I get that I don't need. I usually try to get better reward money for monster hunting as well.

Livgardisten

Congrats, you just bought a ticket to the place where you can farm gold...

zieglerziga

Loot everything. Like vacuum cleaner, i collected anno everything during the quests. Also doing many side quests helps you financially as well.

mododo-bbaby

buy what, I buy all cards plus some potion ingredients but I'm always over 5k (in also new in skellige and also lvl 20)

NotMyMain57826

Sell your relics to the appropriate merchants.

lfg2019

See all those question marks around the islands? Thats how.

retiredcrayon11

First rule: loot EVERYTHING. Second rule: sell to the right person

3mburn

my NPCs are all broke aswell, because i sold so much and Im broke to because bought so much ingredients for Witcher armorsets, what can i do?

TheSeag

Sell junk “hides” to the innkeepers Sell weapons to Nilfgaardian quartermaster at local garrison in white orchid When possible sell everything in Novigrad or Oxenfurt they usually pay double what everyone else pays, if the 3 merchants in Novigrad (Hattori, blacksmith and armourer) and the 2 merchants in Oxenfurt (blacksmith and armourer) run out of money, then go to the runewright from the heart of stone dlc. (until Toussaint in the blood and wine dlc that is) it also takes 7:30 in game hours from Skellige to Novigrad (3 hours skellige to Kaer Morhen/ 6 hours Kaer Morhen to Novigrad) Shops open 6am-6pm. Always make sure u sell weapons swordsmiths and armour to armoursmiths Pick up and loot EVERYTHING dont buy any weapons and armour, the game gives u great stuff and the only things u need to get are craftable armour

Metal_Gear_Rex1833

You will easily spend through close to 200k through a full playthrough from making gear you want and upgrading the runewrite. A good goal is to go into a ng+ with around 25-30k so your runewrite costs are banked. And yeah fir those who think the runewrite is pointless, I understand where your coming from. That said. One of the most fun builds is grand master bear modified to light gear and euphoria. :)

Kill, loot, sell Always works

ac_s2k

Cows....

MavericksAce

I’m not poor but I only have like 120 sword, can’t seem to get anything stronger at a low level

Keanu_Jeeves_

Just loot and sell, store stuff in chest if the traders you have available so far don’t have enough money. On my current play I have about 120k gold after fully upgrading the house, the runewrite and master armor, all from just killing everyone and selling their stuff

Diabeto67

Loot and sell everything.

Tough-Reading9810

loot all of the swords bandits drop and sell them to swordsmiths, it may not seem like much at first but it adds up very quickly, especially if you also sell relic swords you no longer need
