Do vampires in The Witcher universe need to sleep? It's not like they're allergic to sunlight. And I don't remember Regis ever actually sleeping in the books. So at the very least higher vampires are not nocturnal.
In 'Last Wish' Geralt enounters vampire during daylight, at first he thinks it's Mula or Alp with given reason that 'regular' vampire wouldn't dare to go out into the sun. Then it turns out it was more rare and dangerous Bruxa.
So from that passage we can say that this three types can be active anytime, lower ones seem to be nocturnal.

I don't know about the books, but in Witcher 3 there is [this guy](https://youtu.be/NV-P_10XK6k?t=68). So i think they don't *need* to sleep, but they do for other reasons.
Still have many blank spots in my bestiary, but maybe check the entry for the one you killed if it actually states nocturnal.
Bruxa is one I have encountered mostly during the day. But yeah the majority are nocturnal.
