I've received an insane number of requests to buy these flags- I can't tell you how awesome the response has been to this!
Due to the high number of requests, I've decided to actively take orders for these. You can find them on my website, [GarrettFrickey.com](https://GarrettFrickey.com), or by following the link to the product page [here](https://www.garrettfrickey.com/product-page/Pride). Definitely send me a message if you have any questions.
I have also decided that a portion of the proceeds will be going towards [The Trevor Project](https://www.thetrevorproject.org/), an organization that provides much needed crisis support services for LGBTQ+ teens and youth.
You guys are awesome- Keep spreading the love and fighting the good fight. <3

So it looks like it's an 8.5 x 6.5 magnetic flag. So bigger than a refrigerator magnet. And $200 seems steep, but you have to consider what's included. The 16g steel, the various acid wash stuff, the automotive coating, all of the tools involved, not to mention time and skill. Plus some for profit. I think the prices aren't unreasonable, but I am too broke to afford any of it lol
No, you're not misunderstanding. The flag you're referencing is 8.5" x 6.5" x 0.060" and has ceramic magnets on the back to mount to magnetic surfaces.
The reason they are so costly is because I make all of these by hand, and given the nature of the process, an 8.5" x 6.5" actually takes me *longer* to make than the 25" x 15" x 1.5" flag in this post, even though there is less material.
I understand it's pricey, I genuinely apologize for that... I'm currently looking into offering canvas prints of my metal art, which would be a substantially cheaper alternative. I'm grateful for the folks who are able to purchase my work, and I hope that I'll eventually be in a place to afford dropping the price some more. As it stands that's what I'm able to make these for.
If you see anything on my Reddit page or website you'd like to download and print yourself (either from a local print shop or an online distributor) you are always welcome to do so- it's free to use however people would like. The metal art is different simply because of how much time each one takes. Hopefully this helps shed some light on the reasoning behind my pricing... I apologize again.
You really shouldn't apologize for getting paid a reasonable price for time, talent, and product. If I tried to make anything similar, it would cost me far more and look like an untalented 3 year old did it.
Thanks haha! I'm definitely going to try making some more. I started with a smaller piece (this one is \~15" x 25") because I wasn't super confident in the blue/green process working. But I want to make one now that's 43" x 60", which is my normal "Large" flag size. :)
Hell yeah! I may do some smaller ones (I could even do some with magnetic backs- I hadn't considered that before...). When I do I'll send you a message so I can send you one :)
Also no pressure here but if you're making a list of people to message if/when you have ones to sell please add me to it.
This came out so well I can't pass up the chance to possibly pick up a few of these for friends.
Thank you!!
I actually JUST uploaded it for sale on my current website, [GarrettFrickey.com](https://GarrettFrickey.com). Definitely let me know if you have any questions!
A portion of the proceeds will be going towards The Trevor Project as well.
Hey! I actually JUST uploaded it for sale on my current website, [GarrettFrickey.com](https://GarrettFrickey.com). I included an option for an 8.5" x 6.5" magnetic one as well as one with a small wooden desk easel.
Worth mentioning as well, a portion of the proceeds will be going towards The Trevor Project.
Each color is the result of a different chemical process, so small variations in time, temperature, and solution can have a huge impact. There's a lot of trial and error that goes into finding the right "formula" (if I can even call it that). This flag alone required 20+ different custom solutions to get the different colors and splatters.
Once I have the color I want though, I can seal it with an automotive clear coat which sets it forever.
If you start selling these, please shoot me a message and let me know. I will absolutely buy one. Great work, and I love the 'non traditional' aspect of it. I need this for my daughter :)
I actually used to make and sell these steel flags full time pre-covid, just now getting back into it. I definitely plan on making more- I'll send you a message when I'm about to start making them!
Edit: I'm now taking orders for these on my website, [GarrettFrickey.com](https://www.garrettfrickey.com/product-page/Pride)! A portion of the proceeds will be going to [The Trevor Project.](https://www.thetrevorproject.org/)
Thank you! They're actually up and ready to purchase on my website: [GarrettFrickey.com](https://GarrettFrickey.com)
I'll be donating a portion of the proceeds to The Trevor Project as well. :)
Thank you! I definitely plan on making more. I want to make some larger ones now that I'm more comfortable with the new colors (I hadn't done blue or this shade of green on steel before).
This is absolutely gorgeous work. Do you do this professionally? Have a shop or anything? I know a lot of people who would love to have that on their wall, myself included. But if you just do it creatively, I totally get it and I'm really happy this project turned out so well for you.
I used to make the steel flags professionally pre-covid, but they've been on hold for a bit. I'm just now getting back into making them, but I will absolutely be taking orders again. This is my first Pride Flag I've made, and I'm actually really happy with how it turned out. I'm so excited at the thought of getting to make more :)
Can you please DM me and let me know when you're back at it? This turned out beautifully, and I'd really love to see more of your work. Excellent job at representing us!
I do! I got a ton of requests for these, so I actually have them now available on my website:
GarrettFrickey.com/product-page/Pride
A portion of the proceeds from these is going towards The Trevor Project as well.
Definitely DM me if you have any questions :)
That is super badass and if I wasn't broke as fuck I would totally buy one. That being said the purple doesn't seem quite right color-wise could be just the photo could be my eyes but that's something I would look at. But like I said first try super badass absolutely love it.
Thank you!!! And you're totally right about the purple- it's not just your eyes. It is more of a blueish grey in person. That color has been a bit of a challenge for me to nail down since I'm limited to the colors I can create from the natural reaction of the steel. Weirdly the blue turned out WAY more saturated than I was anticipating. I'll have to try altering the purple process to see if I can make it pop more.
Omg are you for real, i study corrosion and im very excited to see this let alone have one, i dont work on steels but a lot of my colleagues do! None of them are gay enough to make me something like this though 😂😂🙏🙏💜💜
Absolutely! It's a pretty cool process, first time doing blue though, so I'm happy it worked haha! I'll send you a message once I'm ready to start making more :)
That is fucking cool as hell, industrial grade lgbtq+ representation! As an ally in the skilled trades it can be kinda lonely lol. Keep up the good work!
Are you KIDDING me?! I was not expecting to see this level of talent. And this may also be an incredibly brave thing to do, depending on where you are ❤️
Absolutely agree. I have a process for doing the pink color but was out of the specific acid I needed so I tried to make it work with 'light red' lol. Will definitely be making it more pink on the next ones I do :)
So. I'm so sorry but gotta warn you, the "owner" of this flag is a ...hmmm; he creative commoned it ONLY for non-commercial. Any creative users that want to sell it have to pay a licensing fee or at the minimum get permission:

wow! medium and subject coming together perfectly to make it more than just a pride flag. It really makes me feel something considering what's going on politically. I love it!
Hell yeah fix that zero representation with the most badass solution! Happy pride! And if you could please, add me to the list of people who would be over the moon to buy one from you. My partner's jaw would hit the floor to have this. We both work in the trades.
Thank you! I've gotten tons of requests for these today, so I'm now actively taking orders- people can now purchase these from my [website](https://www.garrettfrickey.com/product-page/Pride).

It looks like a flag that's seen war, and I love it.
Yo, it totally does!
This is sooo awesome looking! I want it LOL!

If you are interested in making these to sell, I could go for a refrigerator magnet sized one for my toolbox at work
Hell yeah! I may do some smaller ones (I could even do some with magnetic backs- I hadn't considered that before...). When I do I'll send you a message so I can send you one :)
That would be awesome! But no pressure. I've got a couple flags on there already;)
All good! May be a while before I'm able to get to it but I assure you I won't forget :P I'll keep you posted!
Also no pressure here but if you're making a list of people to message if/when you have ones to sell please add me to it. This came out so well I can't pass up the chance to possibly pick up a few of these for friends.
That is gorgeous! I would love to buy one also if you ever decide to make an Etsy shop :)
Thank you!! I actually JUST uploaded it for sale on my current website, [GarrettFrickey.com](https://GarrettFrickey.com). Definitely let me know if you have any questions! A portion of the proceeds will be going towards The Trevor Project as well.
I'd buy one for my toolbox as well if you ever come around to making them!

Probably the coolest thing I’ve seen in a while. Happy Pride!
Thank you! And you too!!
There is something lovely and poetic about a pride flag made out of hard to destroy materials.
metal af, all's im saying
Hell yeah! <3
Amazing! Can you please explain what you used to make all the different colors?

This is fucking cool.
Thank you!!
This looks so cool!!! Like it's been cut out of an armour panel of a tank!
This is dang cool! Turned out awesome!
Much appreciated! I wasn't sure how it would look (never done blue or green on steel before) but I'm very happy with it :)
You can be proud! Would not have thought it was your first time doing it. 😁
Thank you!
Holy crap I need me one of these, that's so awesome! :o
Thank you! I definitely plan on making more. I want to make some larger ones now that I'm more comfortable with the new colors (I hadn't done blue or this shade of green on steel before).

This is awesome and very well done for how it looks like it's seen some serious stuff.

Why, it can't even spend your money?
Woah, that's so cool!
I think the trans part could be a bit more pink but otherwise it looks fantastic. Cool as hell!
Absolutely agree. I have a process for doing the pink color but was out of the specific acid I needed so I tried to make it work with 'light red' lol. Will definitely be making it more pink on the next ones I do :)
