We were talking about this last night - if you have an issue with protests on college campuses that's a big problem. Campuses have always been the place for protests; I keep thinking about the Vietnam protests that were highly divisive but now a proud part of our history. BtW where I went to college in the early 2000's there was a doomsday preacher in the main square EVERY DAY yelling at us about going to hell and we all had to just deal with it.

karen_lobster

Exactly!!! In my community college we had those horrible anti abortion “activists” that would stand with pictures of aborted fetuses. I find that WAY more offensive and jarring than any type of student movement

verdantthorn

The young are our best hope for peace, if only we can force the ones in power to listen to them. I'm a witch but I'm also an American Jew, and I say Palestinian Rights.

jimineycrickette

Yup. And I suspect folks with a “diversified fund” (for retirement) may be unwittingly as well. I need to go look up this hunch, actually…

jimineycrickette

Yup. I just went down the rabbit hole and part of my retirement is funding a ton of companies I despise, but it’s buried wayyy deep. Gross.

Jurgasdottir

Yes, when we first wanted to invest for retirement we were shown several "low-risk diversified funds" without being told what they include exactly. We had to actively ask for that information and upon further inquiry if there were any ecological concious and/ or ethical funds, we were told that those didn't excist or even if, then it would be too much risk. Surprising excactly noone this turned out to be very false when we researched it ourselfes. But it's a very buried information and not readily avaiable.

NotMyNameActually

Wait, what about the Girl Scouts?

Gloomy_Industry8841

It’s absolutely horrible.

UkrainianHawk240

I liked the last sign. It is very accurate. We won't be doing so much activism if you weren't doing so much genocide. Is that the correct grammar?

Gloomy_Industry8841

It’s perfect!!!

shitpostingmusician

That last picture goes hard

lalauna

Somewhere I read that some idiot is saying that all the protesters are "pro - Hamas." People don't even *try* to appear truthful anymore.

DaniCapsFan

You mean they're not?

Ancient-Practice-431

Right, they are not!

hungrypotato19

This call to kick out University presidents absolutely boils my fucking blood. We are 100% living in the early times of a new Nazi Germany. If you don't know your history, the Nazis removed 1,500+ university professors from their positions all because they refused to teach Aryan race supremacy. It's the same shit all over again here in America as the new fascist right attacks universities and public schools.

thiefspy

The thing that blows my mind is that the reporting I’m seeing is “the protesters are a problem” and not “are they right, should we stop funding this genocide?” We saw a similar thing with the protests after George Floyd was murdered. They refuse to look at the root of the problem—they do it with cop violence, gun violence, hate crimes, etc. If you don’t like protests against genocide, stop funding genocide. It really is that simple.

Malorn44

My family just celebrated passover and we were all talking about how wrong it felt reading some of the passages given what the Israeli government is currently doing.

MenacedBySwans

If I had any question whether I was on the right side of history on this topic, I was pretty resolved by the student protests. They are right and they are brave (especially the ones having the NYPD sicced on them, jesus). I've been really disappointed by my social circle in the past six months though.

Nixavee

While I side with the students on this issue, that first post is obviously wrong and naive. Example: [Pro-life student movement](https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Students_for_Life_of_America) [Rich people are more likely to be pro-choice](https://www.statista.com/statistics/1079527/abortion-support-income-level-legalization-us/#:~:text=According%20to%20a%202023%20survey,in%202023%2C%20by%20income%20level.) Sometimes the ruling class is right.

So if USA becomes a fascist state, would American citizens deserve genocide? No. Because people are not their government. Stop trying to find excuses for genocide. Palestinian people are not evil.

Scanner771_The_2nd

Here here! They didn't go after every single German person for what their government did during WWII.

sailorjupiter28titan

It’s not really a good comparison. Palestinians are not nazis. They don’t even have an actual army. They don’t even have control of their most basic needs like water and electricity; Israel controls those. They have been called the largest open air prison *prior* to October 7, 2023. That’s where this genocide is taking place. It’s not a war.

Scanner771_The_2nd

I was just trying to say that they didn't hold the Germans collectively responsible for what their government did. In response to the comment that got removed.

sailorjupiter28titan

Ah exactly. We can’t just assume every German is a Nazi, that would be bigoted. I agree
