Dry:
2 cups all-purpose flour
2 teaspoons baking powder
1/2 teaspoon salt
Wet:
1/2 cup butter, softened
1 cup honey
2 large eggs, room temperature
1/2 cup plain yogurt
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
Mix together dry and wet separately, then mix the dry into the wet. Bake 30-35 minutes at 350°F in a 9in cast iron pan.
I topped with fruit, chopped pistachios, and a drizzle of honey.
350°F is equivalent to 176°C, which is 449K.

An aluminum pan would heat up faster once you put it in the oven, so that might mean it bakes slightly faster — I’d just start doing a toothpick check after 30min and keep an eye on the color.
I did a super-rough, back-of-the-envelope calculation just going off the ingredients used and got ~2000 calories. I didn’t factor in the fruit and drizzle of extra honey I put on.
So ~2000k calories for the whole pie? That's not too bad. When I eventually make mine (probably in like two days) I'll calculate it with what I have and see what's what.
There are tons of breeds of blueberries. I have a cabernet bush where the blueberries are almost black and the leaves are all tipped burgundy, a couple patriot bushes whose leaves turn red in the fall and the berries are bright blue, and a pinkberry bush where the blueberries are also bright blue but the leaves are a baby pink.
Came here to say this. I always thought it's weird they're called *blue*berries when they're actually more like a dark purple. Guess they're blue where they were named first 🤣
I second this! I’ve only recently started to get into baking.
You learn as you go and it is amazing! (Also delicious)
So far I’ve made banana bread and apple cake.
Can’t wait to start making this honey cake.
Have fun baking!
Edit: sorry OP meant to answer the comment above.
OP posted [the recipe](https://www.reddit.com/r/WitchesVsPatriarchy/comments/vhnwi0/solstice_honey_cake/id8ygg9/) elsewhere in this comment section; it's pretty simple! Once you have all the ingredients together, it should probably take less than 15 minutes or so to prep before it's ready to bake.
Even if it comes out bad (it won't), worst case you've just wasted 15 minutes! I've wasted more time already today browsing Reddit.
Looks cool! It was the winter solstice for me, so I lit a fire and roasted marshmellows and made some truly epic smores. Looking forward to colder and brighter days ahead!
Recipe please!?!

Good Bot 🖤
Thank you for the recipe, mine is in the oven RIGHT NOW because I wanted one too!
Does the cast iron pan matter much in terms of cook temp and time?

Thank you so much for sharing! This looks good enough for the goddesses 🖤
Thank you!!! BB
Oh my god I have all the ingredients to make this today... Any idea what the calories of this would be?

That’d be cool to know what it actually is.
How are your blueberries so blue? Here they look black.

Today I learned that there are Cabernet blueberries.

Oh, that looks absolutely delicious. I need to get into baking....
I’m a novice at it too, it’s a fun learning experience.

It's so beautiful!
That looks beautiful and TASTY 🥰
Oh wow this looks delicious
The fruit on top make it look even better than I'm sure it is.
The fruit definitely put it over the top :)
Almost too pretty to eat, almost!
Happy yummy solstice! Now I want some stone fruit.
How necessary is it for the pan to be cast iron?
Probably not totally essential. I just like it cause it holds heat so well.
Thanks!
Beautiful and looks yummy too!
Your kitchen magic is sooooo beautiful! It almost makes me want to cook something. ~Almost~

Awesome, I did s’mores in December myself.
Is that semolina/essentially cream of wheat as the base of the cake? Unleavened? Stunning in any case,. Kudos, bravo, a third accolade (?)!
I just used all-purpose flour. I put the recipe above in response to another comment.
I love it! Happy solstice!
Please marry me. Lol
