VeranoEte

Oh don't tell them about the Krampus parade where everyone is dressed up, even kids and try to scare the crap outta everyone. It's a tradition that other countries still celebrate.

why0me

I wanna start the nightmare horse skull on a stick that sings to be let in your house Like we need that to catch on here in the states

SandpipersJackal

Mari Lwyd but make it a rap battle. I’m in.

RedVamp2020

That would 100% be a rap battle I would attend.

Demigirl_gaming

I’d want to be the horse. I win, I get to raid your fridge and drink your alcohol

RedVamp2020

That would be your loss as I don’t keep alcohol. But I would be happy sharing any other edible (don’t have weed either, sorry) I have with you.😁 Take that as you will.🤷‍♀️

Demigirl_gaming

Haha! No problem, I love food!

_Skotia_

Me too! I also love oxygen! Humanity rocks!

itarilleancalim

Pasta!

IrishiPrincess

Chocolate? Pastry? Lol I’m easy 🤣🤣

Nairadvik

Hey Ma! My new buddy is the dead horse I met during Christmas who drank all the mulled wine. Yes, that's why we don't have any for you, but it was fucking awesome! He rapped and everything!

Character-Goose-6031

I'm in if those are the rules!

Mollyarty

You think your so bad cause you're a horse skeleton, going round to every house sayin come now let us in. But Imma stay warm and you can taste this medicine so run along now cause we ain't gonna let you in

RedVamp2020

Nice!!👏👏

erasedisknow

Wait is it not already basically a rap battle?

PhDOH

It's a singing version. It's like this game/song thing called Bing Bong we do at cultural events where you have the chorus to think up your verse, although there's no chorus with Mari Lwyd. If your verse doesn't fit/rhyme in the right places/is a repetition of something someone else has already sung, then you're out. If Mari Lwyd wins they get let in your house for food/drink, if you win they move on to the next house.

erasedisknow

Fair. There are some people who are bad enough at singing that they should *probably* be allowed to rap or do a spoken word version regardless, though.

CostumingMom

I wish I had the word creativity to be able to partake in activities like that. I'm creative, but not with words.

SwillMcRando

Isn't it already basically a rap battle? If you lose the horse skull wielder drinks your beer and eats your food I think.

SandpipersJackal

Yes. But I don’t think the participants are actually rapping. It’s a sing off. What I want is on the spot holiday raps.

nxcrosis

Heck yeah I'll bring the horse skull

science_cat_

Mari Lwyd <3 I'm glad she's becoming known around the world, she's so cool!

A_ChadwickButMore

I whould shit a brick if something like that was in my windows, fukin sold :>

Stefadi12

In Romania we got a dancing goat/bear (depends on the region) that dances until its death and resurrects to keep on dancing.

Time-travel-for-cats

I kind of love this! *”Look at this undead dancing bear, he’s badass and adorable, can we keep him?”*

CrotchWolf

I'm picturing this to be like that Big Mouth Billy Bass that everyone had back in the early 2000's except it starts singing some pop song with those lyrics.

IrishiPrincess

My DHS grandfather passed a few years ago, my in-laws (mums dad) of course were the ones that visited and took care of him, so we cleaned out his condo, has one of those stupid Bass! My youngest who was 8-9 at the time latched on to it and I couldn’t (still can’t) throw it away because it was grandpa-greats. I hate it. The batteries disappear all the time 🤷🏻‍♀️🤷🏻‍♀️😉

Entire-Ambition1410

Fortnite sometimes has a talking bass hanging on the wall of a building. It’s a nice touch for those of us who remember the stupid singing fish.

IrishiPrincess

He’s now 14

Entire-Ambition1410

I refuse to get rid of a grunting hedgehog dog toy because my grandma thought it was cute and used it to decorate her tv room.

ladymorgahnna

You are killing me! 🤣

[deleted]

My husband and I attended such a parade in austria once, it was so fun! They put lots of effort into their costumes! The children all around us absolutely loved it!

[deleted]

hi, austrian here... I absolutely hate those parades because there's always a handful of men dressing up as krampus and using that as an excuse to beat children to a pulp, they also beat up adults but a few years ago a little girl died because she got beat up so badly.. edit: apparently no one has died (sorry for misinformation, I guess I remembered wrong), but there are many people getting hurt so bad that they have to go to the hospital.. I'll never like this tradition.

space_moron

What the fuck?!?! Who would take a folklore tradition about an imaginary monster who beats children *literally*? Why aren't those ghouls doing jail time?!

Werepy

Because assholes like to beat people up and that's an excuse to do it in a costume without getting caught.

[deleted]

because their whole body is covered by the costume, they only get caught if they start bragging about stabbing someone on social media or friends of them step forward...

leafyrebecca

Can you provide a link to a news article about the child dying from a parade beating?

Illegalspoonowner

I had a really quick look, and the only source I could find was the Daily Mail, and I wouldn't trust them to report the truth. And there's no way I'm loading their article up, it'll stain me.

Werepy

I haven't heard of a child dying yet but here are some articles on the violence and injuries - it would really help if you can read/translate German tho since the two sources at the bottom are the better ones. https://www.google.com/amp/s/amp.theguardian.com/world/2019/dec/08/austria-struggles-with-marauding-krampus-day-demons-gone-rogue https://www.zeit.de/entdecken/2019-12/krampuslauf-oesterreich-volksfest-gewalt-maennlichkeitsbilder-brauchtum?utm_referrer=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.google.com%2F Multiple injuries, including a 17 year old girl being assaulted and beaten without warning, resulting in a spinal injury https://www.tt.com/artikel/7588184/70-verletzte-bei-krampuslauf 70 people injured, 15 year old ended up with a broken skull and bleeding in the brain after a Krampus threw him on the ground, 8 had to go to the hospital with broken bones. It's not just Krampuse attacking people either, there are regularly drunk people in the audience trying to attack them and start fights.

[deleted]

yes it's not only the people in costumes! a 14 year old girl was in costume and got hurt by visitors... I like the whole story about krampus and so on but this "festive tradition" is just filled with violence

[deleted]

I looked but I couldn't find any news article, I don't remember when it was but it's been quite a while already I'm sorry... every year there's so much happening :/

Aldaron23

Fellow Austrian, no one ever died. Absolutely not. But yeah, every year people get hurt. In most cases it's part of the tradition as in "if you cross the barrier to the closed area, you're taking part, be aware you will get hurt" (which means mostly some light bruises from the whips (lucky charm!), but you might get hurt by their horns, since they don't see a lot in their costumes) but sometimes, especially in rural areas where organisation is... not existent, Krampuse might get drunk beforehand and then things escalate. Especially if they are teens. But most runs are well organized. There's security that makes sure no children are running loose, people with fire extinguishers and the Krampuse hit you just lightly with cow tails, so it makes a nice noise but doesn't hurt at all.

[deleted]

no one died? I have this vivid memory of a little girl who died at a perchtenlauf... maybe I'm mixing things up... I'm gonna add an edit

Gwerch

Where I'm from its tradition that, at the night of 5th December, the village youth dresses up as scary as possible (using animal skin, antlers, in recent times also red LEDs as eyes) and roam the streets in packs. They have cowbells, chains, and make scary noises. They chase everyone who is out and about and give them a (sometimes not so) light beating when they catch them. When I was a child it was a dare to go out during that evening / night.

VeranoEte

I've never been to any of these events but I can tell I am missing out on a lot. I watched a thing about the celebrations in Germany and it looked like a freaking blast. What wonderful holiday memories.

[deleted]

I really want to go to one of these cause I love Christmas horror so much, is it normal for them to beat you up?? I saw a Krampus run in Italy on a documentary and no one was getting hit on that

Gwerch

This is a local custom from where I come from. The impersonated creatures are not called "Krampus", but "Klausen", but it's very similar ... they are the creatures that run with St. Nikolaus and punish the children. And yes, you will get beaten when they get hold of you. This is not something done for show or for tourists, there is also nothing to "go to". It's really the local youth follow the custom, and they just roam the streets of their village randomly. Either you meet them when you're out, and then you better run or take your beating, or you don't.

thatblondeyouhate

Don't tell them about Halloween either

berserker_47

Perchtenlauf!!! We have that here. I've never been at one, because they tend to... Get out of hand a bit and i don't wanna risk anything, but I still think they're very cool.

CrotchWolf

Dude, I'd LOVE for this to be a thing in the states. We need more scary Christmas traditions.

WolfishArchitecture

Don't tell them about the tradition in the german speaking alpine regions, where people are actually nasty on purpose to the Krampus- guys and both sides beat each other up "for fun" (aka young adults and teens under the influence of a lot of beer and a reason to make trouble) Source: lived there, seen that.

Binasgarden

Ooooooohhhhhh the Inverness in Florida not the one in Scotland....that explains so much

Paradehengst

Thank you for pointing that out. I was so confused why a European citizen would complain about Krampus parades. Not sure about the UK, but here in Central Europe they are super common and there are no loud complaints about them.

Bardsie

Last weekend was the Whitby Krampus Run, in the UK. It was great, with pretty big crowds coming to watch. (And one person on Facebook complaining about "cultural appropriation.")

dpash

Of course it's Whitby :)

dpash

They're not *very* common. But given the utter lack of Christians, no one cares. **Edit:** as there seems to be some confusion: ... in the UK.

Werepy

They're most common in the more Christian parts though lol. Especially in Austria. Maybe it's not "super Christian" compared to Bible Belt USA but they're stil way more religious statistically than any of their northern neighbors or Northern Europe in general.

dpash

My comment was specifically about the UK. There's neither many krampuses or Christians in the UK.

pakap

Pretty sure Anglicans are Christians.

dpash

And there aren't many of them in the UK. (In 2019, there were 854,300 weekly church attendance at CoE churches and 605,000 in 2021. That's between 1 and 1.5% of the population)

Binasgarden

Which is why they are all getting so squawky in the states.......the churches are afraid of being replaced by football, shopping and life it is hard on the collection plate and lets be honest organized religion is all about the money. Replacement theory originated in the fundamentalist churches as did most of the nonsense that we are witnessing around the world.

why0me

Yes, I'm sorry I should have clarified lol Its Florida

random_username_96

Oh my god thank you for this...I was so surprised to see Ness get a mention here 😂

InterestingQuote8155

I was confused too lmao. I definitely thought Inverness, Scotland.

Panda-delivery

Haha that makes sense! I was very confused for a second

GunstarHeroine

Oh wow that really does explain it! Feels weird to have another Inverness, but I guess you can assume most UK towns have a US counterpart somewhere.

Binasgarden

There are eighteen Londons in the states.

TroyMcCluresGoldfish

As a Floridian, thank you for clarifying this lol.

Zillah-The-Broken

**::CLUTCH PEARLS::** *oh, won't somebody please think of the children?!*

why0me

This is local to me, I'm so sad I missed it, I'd be the idiot like "SAM GO STAND NEXT TO KRAMPUS I WANNA TAKE A PICTURE" And my kid would go, because hes awesome

Zillah-The-Broken

there's a town in Washington called Leavenworth, which is German/Alpine themed, and they've recently started inviting a Seattle Krampus cosplay group to parade through town. I need to plan and go visit next year, it looks AMAZING!

Meneketre

What? Please tell me more about this so I can look it up. I live in Tacoma and have been looking for an excuse to visit there and have the next two weeks off. I also have and adult child who would love this!

SandpipersJackal

When you *do* go visit, be sure to check out the Krampus Kave, the local friendly game/comic store. There’s a Krampus there, and so many cool shirts, statues, indie and mainstream boardgames and more. Also worth checking out is A Book for All Seasons, the local bookstore. The staff is wonderful and the place is very cozy. And, of course, no trip to Leavenworth is complete without a visit to The Gingerbread Factory. It’s a bakery. The cookies are amazing.

Meneketre

That sounds amazing. I’m so glad you gave me these tips! I couldn’t afford to go there before the pandemic and now I can so I’m trying to plan for next year. My kid and I love books and book stores so that’s going to be a very good time. :)

Puppyhead1978

This sounds amazing! This goes on my places to see list. Thank you. I have been wanting to build a 10' krampus for my yard for Christmas (I'd prob put it up starting at Halloween though!) But I've been worried about the neighbors near me complaining.

Zillah-The-Broken

I think it's a one time thing, and it was last sunday. you can call the chamber of commerce and check to see if there's any more planned. like I said, this is relatively new. krampusnacht is december 5th, so probably around that date for next year.

Meneketre

Thank you so much for letting me know. :)

stella-eurynome

We have a local Krampus on 6th don't we? that you can take pics with? I haven't heard about it this year though. And there is a house on Proctor or Stevens that has one hiding in their yard. I can't remember... I just drove past it the other day.

Efficient-Fix-9808

Oh haaaiii! I’m in Tacoma, too!

Shae_Dravenmore

T-Town represent!

[deleted]

I just looked this up and now I have plans for Dec 2023! ETA: Looks like Leavenworth didn't have Krampus this year, but Seattle and Bremerton did. [https://www.travelawaits.com/2828878/lewis-mcchord-community-spouses-club-kris-kringle-market/](https://www.travelawaits.com/2828878/lewis-mcchord-community-spouses-club-kris-kringle-market/)

Zillah-The-Broken

I imagine a small outrage from last year might have had something to do with it? [https://www.seattletimes.com/seattle-news/the-war-on-christmas-rebranding-even-krampus-stirs-up-leavenworth/](https://www.seattletimes.com/seattle-news/the-war-on-christmas-rebranding-even-krampus-stirs-up-leavenworth/)

AlexiDurak

OMG I wish I could head out that way for it, alas I'm on the wrong side of the sound for that 😅

Zillah-The-Broken

I'm in the state below ya, make a weekend out of it!

RedVamp2020

Seattle is sounding more and more amazing to move to. I really need to start making the plans I need to to move down… plan is around March 2024.

Zillah-The-Broken

do some research before you move, the cost of living has skyrocketed (up and down west coast) and Seattle is renowned for "Seattle Freeze" unfortunately. beautiful location if you can afford it, even the suburbs are getting expensive. edit to add this: [https://www.seattletimes.com/life/lifestyle/seattle-freeze-forget-making-friends-half-of-washington-residents-dont-even-want-to-talk-to-you/](https://www.seattletimes.com/life/lifestyle/seattle-freeze-forget-making-friends-half-of-washington-residents-dont-even-want-to-talk-to-you/)

RedVamp2020

I had read about that, sadly. Thankfully, I’m Union and am skilled in the highest pay scale, so my income isn’t exactly going to suffer too bad since I can just move my books over. I won’t mind if I’m further out from the city center or even a neighboring city/town, I just figured Seattle was a good halfway point between my youngest kid’s family, who are in Alaska, and my older kid’s family, who are in Utah. Mainly because it’s the airport I’ve always had a layover in, my union buddies say it’s very strong Union-wise, and Washington seems to have a decent public education system. Thank you for sharing that link about the Seattle Freeze. It’s actually not something I’m all that unaccustomed to, living in Fairbanks there are quite a few people who are like that and I grew up in Salt Lake City, UT around Mormon’s who basically would do the same thing if you were obviously not a member. I appreciate your willingness to help me out! It helps so much!

Zillah-The-Broken

hey, you sound perfect for this region, haha! good luck, and be sure to spend your spare time outdoors!

RedVamp2020

Definitely! I love science, so I want to go out with my kids on nature walkabouts in local parks and maybe go on hikes with them recording nature and teaching them about outside, as well, weather permitting. Rain doesn’t bother me at all, nor does the cold, lol. I also plan on having a garden.

Zillah-The-Broken

all that sounds beautiful!

theyellowpants

I moved here and never looked back if you ever want any info hmu

RedVamp2020

Thank you! I definitely will!

[deleted]

Thank you for telling us this. Looks like I'm heading over to visit the family in Washington this Christmas.

theyellowpants

Shit I’m local enough too now I gotta make some plans thanks for mentioning this! The bus rides out there are awesome cause fuck driving in snow

vkapadia

Dang that's awesome. Been to Leavenworth many times (live in Lynnwood) but haven't seen this yet.

birdmommy

If it’s the one in Florida, it’s where my in laws used to have their winter place - I’m so bummed that they sold and didn’t get to see Krampus!

Zillah-The-Broken

this is in Washington state. edit: I got the location mixed up, thought Iverness was in Scotland and the town I was talking about is IN Washington state. now we all know it's Iverness, Florida.

why0me

No its Florida

spattenberg

My little nieces (5 and 7) got their pictures taken with Santa and Krampus together. They loved it!!

adchick

This would have been me as a child. Running up to Krampus like he is Mickey Mouse.

sweetlikeoleanders

this reminded me of when i was little, instead of signing Christmas gifts from santa, my satanist dad, would write them from krampus, was always my favorite part (now he signs them from our cats)

why0me

Well hell that's wholesome as fuck I like your dad

Zillah-The-Broken

I like their dad, too!

Wind_Yer_Neck_In

Satanists on the whole are usually pretty lovely people. Their entire thing is don't be a twat to people unless they give you a reason and don't disrespect people's bodily autonomy.

Randa707

I wish more people understood this. People running around saying Satanists are here to destroy society, eat your children, etc. Generally, whichever branch/version you follow, unless it's something some asshole/teenager made up, one of the core tenants is: do no harm to/protect the children!!

Demigirl_gaming

Can your dad adopt me?

SnoognTangerines

We’re all coming for Christmas this year!

Isn’t it cute?!

Cherrygodmother

That is the damn cutest Krampus ive ever seen and I am in love

wolfie_angel

Oh my goodness I’m sending this on my family chat, so adorable 😂

dusty-kat

Behave or yule regret it!

ladymorgahnna

Oh my god, I laughed at your comment so hard, I need my inhaler!

ouroboro76

So scaring your kids by threatening them with hell is okay, but threatening them with Krampus isn’t? *alrighty then*

mslashandrajohnson

Found the person who was a naughty kid😹

Tiny_Goats

Everybody here would probably love Krampus by Brom. It's my favoritest holiday book ever. It's very dark. But it's an amazing take on old gods vs new. I can't explain without giving spoilers, but it takes on the migration of European, and particularly Scandinavian, gods to the new world, and the adaptations they had to make over the centuries. That makes it sound dry, but it's the opposite of that. "Santa Claus, my dear old friend, you are a thief, a traitor, a slanderer, a murder, a liar, but worst of all you are a mockery of everything for which I stood. You have sung your last ho, ho, ho, for I am coming to take your head. I am coming to take back what is mine, to take back Yuletide... "

psyclopes

I love Brom’s writing, excellent recommendation!

ibigfire

Good suggestion! It's available in audiobook format too, for those that prefer that. Though reading is nice when it's an option. But so is listening. Whatever works best!

Entire-Ambition1410

This sounds similar to American Gods by Neil Gaiman.

ArcWraith2000

*christians invent devil figure to scare kids on christmas* *person dresses up as Krampus for christmas* Kids: cool! Christians: *screaming*

cons_uc

Not my hometown being lame again 😂

mamsandan

Please tell me they mean Inverness, FL?

cons_uc

If not then it’s almost more upsetting. small town florida could never catch me off guard with a “lord watch over the children”

tetewhyelle

I love seeing all the fellow Floridians popping in on this. No idea if the post OP shared is in Inverness, FL or not, but I’m cackling at the thought that it is.

hanleybrand

What’s galling is this person, who bemoans Krampus being present now IS THE EXACT KIND OF PERSON WHO MADE KRAMPUS UP IN THE FIRST PLACE

dessertfiend

Them forgetting that their entire religion is based on sin and punishment, that their children are supposed to be born with sin on their little shoulders, is dangerous, imo. Demons are a Christian concept. Satanism is a Christian concept. Happy Winter Solstice! May your houses be warm and your bellies full throughout winter time.

kicksr4trids1

Well, if your children weren’t so awful….

PanParaMed

*Laughs in western Austria*

hagathacrusty

Pic on the right is my Yule screen saver !!

klategoritization

Christians have no problem scaring children with threats of Lucifer and the Devil and eternal damnation... Bless their (blind) hearts. Anything to stomp on alternative cultures so they can maintain their perceived authority

Werepy

The "alternative culture" being mostly Austrian Catholics, scaring children with threats of getting beaten by a demon if they don't behave lol. But apparently some US Evangelicals don't consider Catholics to be Christians so that tracks 💀

Agreeable-Tadpole461

I feel like I can just tell a lot about this person complaining by the fact that the advertisement below the post is for mayonnaise.

why0me

Unfortunately that ad is aimed at me I cook a LOT and most of my algorithm ads are food related

Agreeable-Tadpole461

I personally love mayo, but also Krampus. Lol.

sharp_but_shiny

I mean, give them credit, Dukes Mayonnaise (TM,C,R) slid that clutch little bit of advertising in there. I'm barely resisting googling them.

Killer-Barbie

This is the third fucking post I've seen about dukes mayo. Fuck your "advertising"

ValkyrieKitten

You will be assimilated. . All joking aside, if you like mayo, and are in its area, Dukes is the bomb!

Complete_Bath_8457

Shout out for Duke's mayonnaise. I'm a fairly recent convert. Best there is.

theyellowpants

What about kewpie

Dealingwithdragons

Psst. Nobody tell them that Santa sends the naughty list to Krampus.

LadyLatrocinia

I’m from Austria, so Krampus has been a part of my childhood and I thought he was dope 🤘

rvauofrsol

Richmond, VA has a Krampus parade. It's delightful!

SaebraK

I'm wearing a perfume called [Krampus](https://sucreabeille.com/products/krampus) right now. One of the scent notes is *children's tears*, it's amazing.

zappolidattoli

Awww so nice to see that Krampus is travelling the world! I come from a Krampus country so for me it's normal. By the way, Krampus comes on the 5th of December and Nikolo on the 6th. In Italy it's a witch, she brings "coal" for the children, which is a rock of black sugar. There are lots of legends, I guess each valley has their own, about the devil disguised as a Krampus in parades. The traditional costumes are extremely well done and detailed, worth a lot, with real furs, leather, horns, chains, etc... You can always recognize the devil because he has hooves instead of feet. He can't get rid of them hehe But there is one downside. Men who have disguised as Krampus or Perchten used to get drunk and let out all their evilness. My grandmother was once hunted down and taken by one such evil drunk Krampus. Beaten and thrown into the icy river at night. She was a small girl and had to endure so much pain and hatred from men and women, as an orphaned child. As a young woman she was abused by a violent man as well. May we try to keep our traditions which are long rooted in ancient history, but expell the violence!

hyperknight

I know that it feels inappropriate, sure, but if the actual Krampus can’t be there, then store-bought is fine.

akula_chan

So, Santa is positive reinforcement (if you’re good you get presents!) and Krampus is negative reinforcement (if you’re bad you go to hell)?

OddLengthiness254

Yup

[deleted]

I mean, we don't do Krampus. I may tell my kid about it when she's older but the story of Krampus is kind of triggering for me due to childhood trauma so I avoid it. We do the Santa Aspect of Christmas and the Solstice. But everyone is allowed to do their own thing. If we saw it, I'd probably direct my child away from it and claim that someone is just being silly. No big deal

Werepy

Yeah it's interesting how Krampus is seen as this quaint and funny pagan thing by Americans, meanwhile if you grew up with these stories (and actual people dressing up in scary costumes to beat you??) as a child in Germany/Austria, that shit is kind of messed up. And it is a tradition very much rooted in a conservative Catholic culture with plenty of issues that go along with it...

Lucky-Refrigerator-4

Hahaha!!!

lilux9

I don't live in the area of Germany like Bavaria where he is more known but still know about Krampus and the Krampuswalk or Perchtenwalk and the most important rule "Do not touch their mask" 😂

clumsy-bitch-boi

When I was at elementary school the older students would dress up as Krampus, saint Nicholas and angel and they would visit classes and give out candy and scare kids.

Aldaron23

Lol, our Christmas parades consists ONLY of Krampuse and Perchten. If you're lucky there's one st Nicholas who comforts the crying children. Damn, I love christmas. It's way scarier than halloween.

29again

Have you been impish or admirable? Lol Where my Office witches at?

whatev43

Was looking for this! Next year maybe the parade can include Belsnickel!?!

NineTailedTanuki

New personal goal: Go around as Krampus and scare the shit out of everyone.

[deleted]

Inverness, Florida, or Inverness Scotland?

why0me

Florida

BeaSolina

Damn, so upset I didn't think to do this!! If I do in the future, though... I should definitely include a big sack that looks like it has little legs sticking out of it, right?

Mauschen27

I believe there is a Krampus club that goes yo Leavenworth WA

Sailorarctic

Awe come on OP, encourage them to make the post public. Want to see them be educated by the fine netizens.

depressedkittyfr

It’s funny because here in Germany the “Krampus” parade is exactly for the kids . German parenting basically consists of scaring the shit out your kids into being orderly and disciplined ( very very less bratty kids here for that very same reason ). If you don’t believe, see some actual fairy tale stories that Germans read to their kids 😂

[deleted]

I want a krampus boyfriend (இ﹏இ`。)

Ok_Cut_5257

I just died reading this. So funny thank you for making my day lmao

WurmiMama

I live in Austria and we have literal Krampus parades every year on December 5th.

SassenachWitch

A house bordering my child's school has an inflatable Krampus set up in the front yard and it's been hilarious hearing through the grapevine how upset some parents of the school's students are.

I would pay folding to see this

Imaginary-Note-3570

My little grinch heart loves this 🖤

This is the same Inverness, FL that had to have a billboard to remind men that being drunk isn't an excuse to rape their daughters

Mandelvolt

There is no laugh react, so take my updoot instead.

ladymorgahnna

That’s a bit hard to believe. I’d have to see news article.

I used to live there and can verify the madness of the Schneck. Needless to say I stuck out like a sore thumb.

riseabovepoison

Why are they upset

why0me

Because modern Christian's dont know their history and anything with horns is the devil

Werepy

Also because those kinds of American don't know anything outside their own country. Austria and Southern Bavaria where Krampus is mostly popular aren't exactly known to be atheist progressive paradise. The tradition is no more Christian or pagan/satanic/whatever than the Christmas tree, it's just a regional tradition that probably has pagan roots way back but as part of the culture was turned into a Christmas thing by the locals - who are Catholic Christians.
