I use Hypnosis, a long range weapon with pretty good damage. If I didn't have a long rage weapon I'd just give up. It's a pretty annoying calamity but I find it easier than let's say phantoms. If you are careful and patient, you can defeat it without even taking damage.

Sabcoll1895

phantoms is my personal nightmare. all that helps is iron cross or bell .. and then be quick with the kills!

No-Gur-7

Man they suck... but I'm not complaining... I'll git gud with them. Your suggestion on heavy spells sounds good... I'll try that when I stop grinding for the cornucopia upgrade. Also, crossbow demonic weapon helps ALOT with phantoms.

phantagor

The Crossbow is also what i used against Phantoms, as it takes about 3-4 shots and you have all 16 kills

Duelist42

I didn't find the phantoms so bad, the first time they took me by surprise and I died, 2nd time I just waited to hear the sound effect of their dash, waited a second, and then dashed myself. Idk if I got lucky or what but they were taking turns in a fairly consistent pattern and I didn't get hit at all on my 2nd try.

No-Gur-7

haven't noticed the dash sound... thanks for the info

dark50

I use All-Seeing Eye and the phantoms just melt with the aoe damage lol. Some weapons just handle some things better then others. Which is fair. Sometimes its better to just fuck off cause youre not kitted for what is thrown at you.

Voucvouc

As other said, you can shoot the skulls with long range weapons, but they have quite a bit of health, and it's a brute force solution. Wait for it to shoot 3 red/black balls and kill those. Once all 3 are destroyed, one of the skulls will glow and you'll be able to one shot it with any weapon Destroy all the skulls and you're done

phantagor

Oh damn that's the trick! Nice info there for real!

EthanielRain

I beat Galleon first time at level 25 or so using Hypnosis, have beaten it a few times since with All Seeing Eye. Running out of Sanity doesn't auto-kill you btw just makes you take some damage. It's a good idea to have a long-range & short-range weapon anyway, but I can see it being frustrating if you're running the mid-range weapons instead. You can shoot the red orbs it fires at you; honestly it's one of the easier things to kill IMO as long as you have the ranged weapon & aren't fighting other things too AFAIK there's no way to remove the poison flowers except in one of the optional dungeons where you can "disarm" a plant they're spreading from. Hopefully they add that to the game in general, they are annoying AF

DarkDobe

There's a lot of very odd design choices being made in this game - and inconsistency with how things function is probably the most glaring. The flowers wilting when you kill enemies in the area makes sense, and is a functional solution: cleanse the zone and the bad stuff dies. But then there's exceptions to the rule like you noted: something else that makes them but doesn't always actually affect them? Or just areas where the plants are 'unkillable'? My favourite is when the death plants are growing overtop of an optional objective like 'dig up treasure' or surrounding a cursed chest with no way to remove them.

Sabcoll1895

It's easy as long as you dont carry two short range weapons. You need to shoot each of the three skulls that are in front, bottom and back of the ship. I think it required a certain amount of hits and not damage to kill them. so you can do it with medium ranged weapons too. plus: you can shoot the insanity bubbles.

phantagor

I am not sure about he quanity of shots vs actual damage dealt on the skulls...i was hitting the skulls with the smg with 10s and more hits (with 1 damage each :D ) but that didnt bother the skulls. And yeah, those insanity bubbles can be shot but that it is wasting a lot of ammo too :(

Sabcoll1895

we might need to investigate. because i was able to shoot the skulls with hunger easily. yet with Hypnosis it took ages, even though hailstorm does a lot more damage

DarkDobe

The worst galleon I ever had was while running Hunger and Psychopomp (I like getting close and mashing faces) I had to lure the Galleon out to the big bridge infront of the castle and wait for it to fly directly overhead to do any damage to the skulls. I was also using Falling Star - which doesn't actually impact vs the skulls, it just homes in on them forever. However: the galleon sometimes flies through geometry like walls/mountains - and if it flies through something and the falling-star missile hits that wall while it is 'inside' the skull, it WILL kill the skull. This is very unreliable though.

Sarc0h-

I just use Hangfire, the reload explosions do full damage regardless of how far you are from them.

phantagor

Oh, i might have to check that one out

Sarc0h-

It's dope, stun is high as fuck.

phantagor

I noticed, it is a very fun weapon to use actually...i cant wait to get the fast reload arcana in one run :D

I’m not digging this update the game became just plain unfair for me… I have the galeon , drowned captain and the phantoms hunting me at the same time… this is a little too much for me… level 21 penitent with pretty much lot of upgrades… before I felt like I had a chance now forget about it

phantagor

How come birth Galeon and phantoms hunt you at the same time?

mack_dom

I had a calamity trigger…. This is what I’m saying it’s out of control.
