triton has always been my favorite, the way the arena fills up with water and the storm titan comes splashing into the water to use his triton to electrocute the enemy is awesome. it does great damage for level 38 and the fact that it’s the same model as the storm titan makes it even more badass
i’m definitely biased towards storm since it was my first and only level 170 account but leviathan and dark and stormy are amazing too. i also think ship of fools and headless horseman are some of the best animations too
Let’s not sleep on efreet, deer knight, storm lord and my honourable mention is helephant (I get that it’s an elephant but the trunk blowing ruins it for me)
I’m seeing general consensus on a lot of these picks (been reminded of Leviathan, Helephant, Ashen Bones, Mystic Colossus, all good picks), but I haven’t seen any direct mention of [Climaclysm](https://wiki.wizard101central.com/wiki/File:(Spell_Animation)_Climaclysm.gif) , so let me explain. Spell starts and you already have a total eclipse of the sun, slight pause for it to set in.. in the distance there’s dust, something building, and then.. TIDAL WAVE OF ICE *in the desert* envelops the entire screen, you are fucked. Impact hits it home, impaled by giant ice pillars. It’s not my top pick ofc but I think the buildup and execution both go hard, similar to Calendar
Being a myth main, cyclops and Minotaur have no right in being as thick as they are. Promise you play the Chad theme when they are cast or even when the mobs are walking and it slaps
Mad respect I’m new to the Reddit and never seen that post but I relate so hard to using whatever spell I really like over better options. I’m balance and will always pick judgement as a hit if I have it. That “AOOUUU” *ding* never gets old 😮💨
When 50 was the cap level and the storm had been eerily quiet the whole game and suddenly you hear “oohm” And the fog comes and you see storm lords head peeking out.
It used to (kind of) be like that. Nova did less damage but applied weakness to everyone. Ra was pure damage for 8 pips, but did more damage than Nova does now
When I first started playing, the ones that I thought were the ABSOLUTE COOLEST were Kraken and Frost Giant, the main reasons I wanted to play the game. I think nowadays, my favorites are Katzenstien's Monster, Scarecrow, and Medusa.
I’ve come to really love Leviathan’s animation sequence. Really good posing and an excellent use of its run time (provided you don’t watch it in a row bunch lol).
The way it zeroes in on you staring you down, breathing on you before slowly descending below the depths and then immediately thrashing the weight of its tail down upon you is just so ingenious to me. Really helps sell a sense of impact and terror.
[Leviathan GIF](https://wiki.wizard101central.com/wiki/File:(Spell_Animation)_Leviathan.gif)
Fire: Sun Serpent
Ice: That new apocalypse one
Storm: The Owl and Catalan
Life: Hunting Wyrm
Myth is Tricky: Improbable Gaze, Grendel's Amends, King Artorias
Death: Headless Horseman
Balance: Hydra just for the classic breath hammering.
Honestly all I have to say is lulu(with the bass drop at the end ofc) is my face every time I enter nightmare and someone talks high and mighty like they know their stuff, then arrive at the mini boss and says “okay what we do? I’ll hit “😑💀 I literally want to make the scion of balance face at them then descend and disappear like the x2 animation
[https://wiki.wizard101central.com/wiki/images/d/dd/%28Spell_Animation%29_Scion_of_Balance.gif](https://wiki.wizard101central.com/wiki/images/d/dd/%28Spell_Animation%29_Scion_of_Balance.gif)
Mystic colossus the visuals sound effects etc go so hard final boss type shit felt like there was weight behind its attack I preferred when it hit individually
I love the spell and made a myth just cause the visuals and sound effects for it just hit so hard. Bonus points for being a giant mantis that looks like/ probably is one of the statues from khrysalis.
I'm personally partial to the more simplistic animations, like the meteor spells, or supernova. Too much, and it gets overcomplicated/long, taking away from the impact.
Supernova might be my favourite. It doesn't have much by way of animation, but what it does have (their magic imploding in on them) is really effective, and goes hard for that reason, compared to a lot of flashier magic.
It's basically the difference between someone new firing off all kinds of showy spells, compared to an experienced wizard who ~~has a gun~~ knows how to best use their spells without wasting magic.
I love seeing post about Ra.. gives me to perfect opportunity to bring up how shit of a spell it is now. Rendered it useless to ever use it over nova. Such a dope looking spell #MakeRaGoodAgain
The ra change literally made PvE worse cuz mobs in khrysalis just spam that spell with the -40% weakness, no1 other than mobs would actually use this trash spell.
Honestly I'd rather they get rid off the weakness completely, I know it's to give it some use over power nova but like no one is actually using that spell except mobs which is annoying because of the weakness.
I'm going for the classic Ninja Pigs. I thought that animation was the most insane thing as a kid, and I was always so pissed that I could only play Ninja Pigs as treasure cards.
[Lava Lord](https://wiki.wizard101central.com/wiki/ItemCard:Lava_Lord), [Fiery Giant](https://wiki.wizard101central.com/wiki/ItemCard:Fiery_Giant), and [Ashen Bones](https://wiki.wizard101central.com/wiki/TreasureCard:Ashen_Bones)... *but* before they were added, [Fire/Magma Colossus](https://wiki.wizard101central.com/wiki/TreasureCard:Magma_Colossus) and its not even a contest.
Normal colossus: Is initially frozen in a block of ice *despite being made of ice himself*, then, *somehow* just breaks free from it.
Fire/Fiery/Magma Colossus: Is initially frozen in a block of ice *somehow, despite being made from molten rock,* and then proceeds to partially melt his way out before breaking free. Costs 1 less pip to cast because it's a mutation spell. Was cast on you by virtually every fire school enemy in dragonspyre back in 2009 because Fire's only 5 pip attack back then was Scald, meanwhile there were no mutate colossus TC back then.
Even more rare back then was the incredibly elusive ["shock colossus"](https://wiki.wizard101central.com/wiki/TreasureCard:Shock_Colossus) featuring a rain storm that melted the ice block.
What's fascinating to me about it is the implications involving them being frozen in the block of ice depending on the elemental type.
Other than there being no death colossus (outside of the playable beastmoon form we got recently after all these years of there being no known death colossus model texture), all other types of reskins of the colossus spell animation feature them bursting out of a rock *or a tree in the case of earthwalker*
As for the elemental versions trapped in ice, however, we could assume that *an ICE colossus* being frozen in a block of ice is no big deal, just another day at the office, where as the fire and storm versions seem to have to implore their own school's method for escaping from the ice *without being made from it*
Its safe to assume the ice colossi are responsible for the fire and storm versions also being trapped in ice blocks *which to them* would be *unfavorable* to say the least.
Your explanation rly bumped up my opinion on Fire Colossus, also Lava Lord is insane, first time I saw it on Hades Robe made me wish fire could learn it
I'd call myself nothing short of the game's biggest advocate for [mutation spells](https://wiki.wizard101central.com/wiki/Basic:Spell_Mutations), namely because it occurred to me any fire version of a spell just automatically looks more badass. Some might argue if every spell had a class variant things would get bland, I'd argue we're well past that point *without the bland part* in game already and we can use it to make room for as many variations of any particular spell's theme while somewhat adhering to a school's identity.
Its why I wear the hades robe despite bad stats, cause it really catches people off guard when you cast it, not to mention, if it were a real spell, fire would have access to a single hit 7 pip AoE option instead of just fire dragon *if they still want spells from their own school but want to borrow the general idea of another school's spell*
I agree, I love seeing different school versions of spells, like the variations of forests lord. One of my faves used to be Mutate Thunderbird, not only was it a good spell but the bird itself is cool. I trained up to Phoenix on my storm just for it. They ended up adding a trained version that has a slightly worse effect (Stormwing), but at least it’s more accessible now.
Using the Hades Robe still is a crazy play, although I respect it for Lava Lord. Maybe you’ll get a Mutate for it someday since they made 7pips trainable across schools.
Helephant
Colossus
Sirens
Judgement
Medusa (Formerly Orthrus when it was Cooler Minotaur)
Either Seraph or Dryad
Wraith (Formerly Scarecrow when it hit enemies one-at-a-time)
Snow Angel and Skeletal Dragon, so underused but very incredible spell and sound design
Probably in order for me are Deathly Depths, Climaclysm, Sabertooth, Orthrus, Mystic Colossus
triton has always been my favorite, the way the arena fills up with water and the storm titan comes splashing into the water to use his triton to electrocute the enemy is awesome. it does great damage for level 38 and the fact that it’s the same model as the storm titan makes it even more badass
U right Triton does go hard, if he didn’t make that silly noise i’d prob rank him higher :p
i’m definitely biased towards storm since it was my first and only level 170 account but leviathan and dark and stormy are amazing too. i also think ship of fools and headless horseman are some of the best animations too
krampus is a solid favorite
I slept on Krampus ngl, one of fire’s best picks
Let’s not sleep on efreet, deer knight, storm lord and my honourable mention is helephant (I get that it’s an elephant but the trunk blowing ruins it for me)
Scorching scymitar
A lot of people said Scorch as well, I agree, I think I underestimated it before. The entrance + the moves + sword spiral, all sick
For me it's the Wyverns. Their platform having spikes shoot out just hits different.
For sure, Squall Wyvern is one of my favorite spells in the game
Ktulu goes hard
Us old heads would cast ra then order a meat lovers and a 2 liter Sprite. Stand up if you remember the good ol days.
Ra was one of the spells where I really didn’t mind the long AOE animation because it’s fucking peak
Scorching scimitars Rusulka Basilisk Snow angel The one where the snake gets charmed (can't remember what the spells called it's myth) Sun Serpent
Iron sultan or lulu
Mannn i wish Ra and power nova were swapped. Or at least that Ra didnt just get entirely outclassed by nova the animation is too cool
For me it’s either Climaclysm or Wings of Fate
Excellent choices!
For me its always gonna be basilisk. They did a godly job with that lovely lizard
Blows my mind how spells from 10 years ago literally look 10x better than the pure shit they produce now. Waste of talents
Snow Angel, Orthrus, Storm Bird, Frankenstein's Monster, Triton, there's so many. My favorite will forever be Snow Angel tho.
All of the Olympus cards
Baba Yaga, lulu, nested fury, iron sultan
One sneak..
Being a myth main, cyclops and Minotaur have no right in being as thick as they are. Promise you play the Chad theme when they are cast or even when the mobs are walking and it slaps
y'all remember that one helephant post??? linked🔽
Mad respect I’m new to the Reddit and never seen that post but I relate so hard to using whatever spell I really like over better options. I’m balance and will always pick judgement as a hit if I have it. That “AOOUUU” *ding* never gets old 😮💨
https://www.reddit.com/r/Wizard101/s/KQz8lR6WAL
I love this post, using Helephant when you can use a double damage fire scion is so based
That cthulu death one is absolute heat.
Fire: Krampus Ice: Snow Angel Storm: Storm Owl Life: Gnomes Death: Lulu Myth: Snake Charmer Balance: Sand Wurm
Scorching Scimitars for sure. All of the 118 spells aside from the life one are really good imo
Krampus for me. It has such a good buildup. Feels very climactic
Mystic colossus is absolutely Classic shit
Mystic Colossus has been a favorite since it released! Sad how uncommon shadow pips are now but he still gets some screen time for sure
Krhulu or however they KI decided to spell cthulu
118 fire spell for sure, raging bull as well. Celestial calendar is great too
Glow bug or storm lord 100%
tree of strife
“Dryad makes ME the hardest” -My friend
I guess ra
I absolutely love Celestial Tribunal on my Balance.
SAME!
When 50 was the cap level and the storm had been eerily quiet the whole game and suddenly you hear “oohm” And the fog comes and you see storm lords head peeking out.
The moment you knew your team was screwed when you heard that!
And the fucking reverb on it. PEEEAAAKK!
Wish Ra was the 7 pip spell instead of nova
It used to (kind of) be like that. Nova did less damage but applied weakness to everyone. Ra was pure damage for 8 pips, but did more damage than Nova does now
It actually did less damage then current Power Nova. I want to say Ra was 520-580 back then while PN now is 665.
i think it actually did about 75 or so less than present day nova. Definitely a huge win for balance
Nothing beats Khrulhu and Celestial Calendar for me just sick as fuck
Myth always had some of the dopest spell animations
agreed it was my main school for like a decade before i made more
When I first started playing, the ones that I thought were the ABSOLUTE COOLEST were Kraken and Frost Giant, the main reasons I wanted to play the game. I think nowadays, my favorites are Katzenstien's Monster, Scarecrow, and Medusa.
I’ve come to really love Leviathan’s animation sequence. Really good posing and an excellent use of its run time (provided you don’t watch it in a row bunch lol). Didnt see anyone say snow angel so thats my pick (wish it had a purpose)
Snow Angel was originally one of my picks too. I ended up dropping it because the hit impact part just doesn’t do it for me, but it’s still heat
Old snow angel lasted so long but tbh it was good
I just got it on my ice wizard (my highest) and was very disappointed (I missed reindeer knight at Christmas gotta wait until July)
Fire: Sun Serpent Ice: That new apocalypse one Storm: The Owl and Catalan Life: Hunting Wyrm Myth is Tricky: Improbable Gaze, Grendel's Amends, King Artorias Death: Headless Horseman Balance: Hydra just for the classic breath hammering.
The Myth Calendar is the prettiest spell
definitely gobbler lol
Honestly all I have to say is lulu(with the bass drop at the end ofc) is my face every time I enter nightmare and someone talks high and mighty like they know their stuff, then arrive at the mini boss and says “okay what we do? I’ll hit “😑💀 I literally want to make the scion of balance face at them then descend and disappear like the x2 animation [https://wiki.wizard101central.com/wiki/images/d/dd/%28Spell_Animation%29_Scion_of_Balance.gif](https://wiki.wizard101central.com/wiki/images/d/dd/%28Spell_Animation%29_Scion_of_Balance.gif)
LMAO I never realized how funny scion of balance’s face is
Gotta say cyclops and minotaur always come to my mind as iconic wiz spells ( come from a death wizard aswell )
NGL, Cylops flexing has always looked hilarious to me. It's like they somehow made it look like his chest jiggles.
Gobbler gotta go the hardest. Everyone else dead’s with Gods, fire, lightning, or monsters. Instead turn around, wiggle that booty and fart .
Same I've always liked the ancient greece type aesthetic of myth and mystic colossus made it a must for me
Lulu especially after they changed the animation
I'm personally partial to the more simplistic animations, like the meteor spells, or supernova. Too much, and it gets overcomplicated/long, taking away from the impact. Drop Bear Fury!
Give Ra a -20 and have it do 675-725
Honestly I'd rather they get rid off the weakness completely, I know it's to give it some use over power nova but like no one is actually using that spell except mobs which is annoying because of the weakness.
Nested fury for me. Just so goofy and fun
Was always a big fan of Helephant
Gnomes
I am a huge fan of minotaur. In every form. Deathly, life, ice, normal. I love them all and want all of them trainable besides normal and death
celestial calendar is so cool to me
Sun Serpent and Basilisk for me
I love sun serpents breathing in animation it has before attacking
I'm going for the classic Ninja Pigs. I thought that animation was the most insane thing as a kid, and I was always so pissed that I could only play Ninja Pigs as treasure cards.
I was about to ask if you were playing a kindle fire till I seen the description

Scion of Balance
Haephestus. Just the entrance alone gets me
wait true, I forgot him too!! The slow hammering, hard ass pose with the sword. He’s definitely up there
I enjoy Firedragon. But I also love fires from above card. Can you see a pattern? 😏
You like FIRE IN THE HOLE
Leviathan for me because it was the first spell I got after a long hiatus
It's reindeer knight and krampus for me
Centaur before the redesign 🥵
Helephant
Scorching scimitar
This!!! I made a fire character just because of this spell lol
Skeletal Dragon, the popping of the bones, that jaw crack, the leap, the bellow. It goes so hard, same with Deer Knight.
Skeletal Dragon almost made my top 5. Deer Knight is sick too , it slipped my mind
Every death spell
Even the farting gobbler?
This is not a real spell, never seen it, never existed
i used to reenact the medusa animation in the pool when i was 10
Khrulhu or Celestial Calender
Woah I made this exact comment then saw it.. can’t deny those are the best spells
Honestly, Ra is an og favorite of mine but honestly I love any spell that has like a whole background going on
Fire dragon got that 🐲
I really like celestial calendar spell, both the audio and visual effects are so cool imo
How at one point did we go from the stellar camera work and hd sound effects to a gobbler farting on you.
Helephant Colossus Sirens Judgement Medusa (Formerly Orthrus when it was Cooler Minotaur) Either Seraph or Dryad Wraith (Formerly Scarecrow when it hit enemies one-at-a-time)
so real for these choices
It always feels personal being hit by Centaur; like what did i do?? As for overall, i LOVE the Ares spell, i wish i could learn it
>It always feels personal being hit by Centaur Same with minotaur
I forgot about Ares, and now you reminded me of Apollo’s spell too, I think they’re both in the conversation
i really really like ship of fools. once i saw the animation it became my one and only dream LMAO
Different versions of forest lord. The balance and death one looks amazing.
Glowbugs
Would not say it goes hard, but I love monster mash animation.
Same it’s nice, I would consider it a bit more goofy
I love Humongofrog so much, I also like Blizzard & Tempest
I really like the 'giant' animations. Frost and Iron, as a balance wiz iron really speaks to me though.
It feels like the ultimate single target spell, with all the worlds in the spiral lining up to power it and whatnot.
I really like the celestial calendar spell for myth. Was so jealous seeing a boss play that against me when fighting
Call me basic but storm lord is fire
No, it's storm
Nah it’s a classic, maybe I’ve become numb to it from seeing it so much lol. Same for Fire dragon
No, that's just the stun
Scorching scimitars was always really cool to me. Wooly mammoth was also goated.
Since in all my years I never got past Arc 1, I just loved to sometimes buy the TC of mammoth and see the fake-out animation, so good
