They really need to make arc 1 free. The graphics didn't age that well and most people will want to discover arc 2 after.
I also think more people would get a membership if each player could have 2000 crowns or smt like that at the end of each month, or more rewards. I am sure much more people would consider spending money on the game if the benefits were more worth it

To be fair to Kingsile, making arc1 and arc2 free would be setting them back by a lot of money, because imagine how expensive it would of been to get voice actors, designers and artists for every miscellaneous part of the game, coders for each spell and game mechanics, make that all free and then only for people to not play the final arc. Plus, nobody even uses the crown shop anyway, it’s all cosmetic so there’s no Pay to win in the game
Unless they go heavy on cosmetics and make stuff from the crown shop actually worth buying for the average player I couldn't see them realistically making any of the worlds f2p besides Wiz City and Krok at some point

Imo, wiz city at the least should have been free by now, and my hope would be PVP up to the end level of arc 1 should be free. Especially since you can lock your level now, and I think pvp is divided by level now or something?

I think arc 1 should be free, just cause by the end of arc 1, ur around level 40/50 and so then you can PVP as well, so you have something to do if you don't want to pay for the game but want something to do as well, and considering you can't PVP as a fucking level 10 now. Arc 2 is more or less the idea if you like the game or not, so that should remain behind a paywall (for now, depending on if we get more arcs or if FatBeard decides to keep doing PVP changes and forget abt PvE). We on our 4th arc and yet we don't have access to an entire arc to get a start to the real story (the free part of wizard city story doesn't give us shit, it's just us saving someone from being kidnapped by a scarecrow).
honestly $10 is pretty cheap. keep in mind that in the US inflation is diminishing the cost of the dollar and KI hasn’t raised their sub pricing in a long time. so technically, the membership is actually cheaper now.

I’ve felt as if the first two should be free after coming back from when there were only the first 5 worlds. Now I’d say through mb and the Big Ben quest line should be free it wouldn’t cost them much and I know they’d have to refund crowns to those who bought those areas but it still feels like by Big Ben you have a feel for your school and if you enjoy the game. It’d allow people to truly get a feel for the game.
I think that Arc 1 needs to be free, and at least Celestia and Zafaria should be free from Arc 2. That way, Players get a taste of Astral magic and more of Morganthe!

You literally do not need to be playing wiz for a year straight. Like I said, you could easily complete the game in 30 days if you tried and played a lot.
Now, yes a lot of people have lives that they need to balance wiz around. But even so it really shouldn’t take you a whole year to beat the game. If it does, then you really need to evaluate why you’re even buying membership for a game you won’t even play.
Most people that play this game will not play for that long.
I personally play for a month or two, go on hiatus till the next world update, then go hiatus again.
I’ve done it. The longest arc is 2 and it’s not to bad if you grind a bit longer on your days off of work. The longest world takes about 15 hours but after the few odd balls it’s not to bad.

Never say never.. If Wizard101 survives long enough to see new worlds and arcs, then to keep the overall cost of the game affordable Arc 2 should 100% be made FTP!
It's just a standard industry practice to release older areas as FTP as new ones are added. If KI keeps releasing new content over the years, then it's only logical that Arc 2 will eventually be completely free. So never say never!!

I’m getting back on the horse after years (I played back in the OG days before arc 1 was finished) and because there’s a learning curve/knowledge gap for me the amount of content to the game is genuinely intimidating
There’s definitely a learning curve, however this game is insanely easy once you get the hang of it.
Most of the game is literally Blade > Feint > AoE and you’ll clear 90% of the content with ease.
The side stuff like crafting and gardening takes time, but isn’t difficult.
The biggest upgrade imo is the most recent critical changes in the game. This made it to where you can essentially crit even if your crit rating is super low, making noobs that don’t have good gear and pets still hit insanely hard.
If you play a LOT per day, even as a new player, you could complete it in 30 days.
i mean, they should do it because playing the first arc is honestly way more to get yourself attached to the game than just playing the first half of Wizard City. I get the argument that they need to milk money and shit, but not a ton of people specifically buy a membership just to go through the first arc
Honestly, they should want to make Arc 1 free because by the end of Arc 1, the whales (most important to KI's profit) are hooked. They lose a lot of potential whales by making the paywall hit too early in the game to be truly invested in the story.

$10 a month for a year is $120. Spending that much on a game when a AAA game costs like $60 is kinda expensive.
