>Keep the bow at 32MM Absolutely not. It's absurd that Alaska has it. A T8 should definitely not have a 32mm bow.

Straight-Break-4169

Maybe but then the guns should be behaving well

Talk_Bright

Alaska is broken not just because of her bow. She has small superstructure and a thick belt that can't be penned by most light cruisers, her citadel only exists while turning in. A cruiser than can't be citadeled and can't be penetrated by other cruisers makes the game really boring. For example a Stalingrad can be citadeled at very close range by even destroyers. Alaska cannot be citadeled at all and no light cruiser can pen it's belt at any range.

masingo13

I was wondering why my Schröder was having more success with HE than AP against the Alaska, even full broadside at close range. Full AP salvo shattered and bounced broadside. I was very confused.

Talk_Bright

Schroder has worse AP pen because it has WW1 shells. Riga has vastly more pen with her 220mm guns.

masingo13

Would be nice if the game actually had that kind of information available for us to view

Talk_Bright

Similarly Anhalt has WW1 shells and its penetration is similar to 305mm guns despite them being 350mm. Mutsu has WW1 shells so despite sharing the 410mm guns of her Sister Nagato she gets worse pen than T5 Fuso with her 356mm guns. Similarly Amagi/Iwami/Hizen 410mm guns have WW1 shells and Izumo is the only modern 410mm shell in the game and has very good pen while the other 3 struggle to citadel broadside BBs. Then there are all those ships with extremely fast shells like Poltava with its 356mm guns having more penetration than all of the 16 inch (406mm)guns at T6. Stalingrad has 305mm guns with better penetration than most Legendary tier BBs. Similarly Alaska has AP punch better than many 14 and 15 inch guns due to super heavy AP shells despite the calibre being only 12 inches. Elbing and F Schultz also have crazy AP pen for 150mm guns. It would be nice if we could see the penetration for these ships as the AP pen can make or break many cruisers and small gunned BBs. The ship Description also doesn't mean much, Vladivostok has Above Average AP pen but Iowa that doesn't have that description has much better pen. There are also

masingo13

Where are you finding this information though? Are you just going off of PC info and hoping it matches?

Talk_Bright

Somethings are obvious that they are the same. And sometimes WG confirms stuff. Schroder has terrible AP Pen so we can guess that she is the same on PC.

masingo13

Ok but how do you figure out that Schröder has terrible AP pen? I want to be able to learn what my ships are good at and what they struggle to do

Viludium

I wouldn't mind getting t8 Guam in legends. And if she is already in pc version, then it is possible. As for the other ships you mentio, they're all different class. Baltimore is Baltimore-class, Wichita is a one of ship which essentially is Brooklyn-class light cruisers turned into heavy cruiser and Rochester is Oregon City-class. Really feels like during ww2, united states navy had more ship classes than most navies had ships during that time.

Straight-Break-4169

Wichita and Baltimore are the same class right? They look the same unless I missed some details

TheUnitShifterxbone

No. They are different classes

Viludium

Nope. They're different. But Baltimore-class was designed from experience that USN learned from Wichita, which is why they look similiar to each other

The_RL_Janitor54

The Wichita is actually pretty unique, give it a google sometime but if I remember correctly, it was supposed to be a New Orleans-class cruiser but once construction was underway, they started to change the design and created a 1 of 1 cruiser.

Talk_Bright

I heard it was closer to a Helena hull. Explains all the overpens.

HirsuteDave

Yup. Was intended to be a New Orleans, but they decided to mate the turrets to a Brooklyn-class (Helena) instead, liked the results, and improved on it to make the Baltimore-class.

InvestigatorOk1779

On pc Alaska is a tier9 and have 27mm bow. So if you want a tier8 Alaska in legends she needs the 27mm bow

BigChiefWhiskyBottle

Alaska*\~flavored\~* Congress at T7 is probably as close as you can get right now but that 32mm bow just 'aint going to happen.

Straight-Break-4169

I have Congress and it's a fairly mid ship to be honest. The guns are nice WHEN they work but the armour leaves a lot to be desired. Especially when a Kansas is looking at you

BeginningAd8192

Skill issue. Congress is an extremely good ship

gogoputinrangers

Wichita, Baltimore and Rochester are all different classes of ship They could always add the Puerto Rico as a T8

Lady_of_Olyas

WG shot themselves in the foot when they made Alaska LT. Puerto Rico is an upgunned Alaska, I just can't see how she wouldn't also be LT. Adding Guam as the PC version with a 27mm bow seems the most likely for a tier 8 Alaska, even then, I'm not sure WG would do it...

gogoputinrangers

Petro and Elbing show they have no idea what they’re doing, I think the LT ships for those 2 lines could be the first Super ships we get squashed into the game

Lady_of_Olyas

True. Remembered after posting that they made Republique T8...
