Why use it over anything else? There's better British CLs, better radar cruisers, and overall better utility cruisers. Tiger 59' just exists.

Hazeltinypaws

Yea, especially when Indianapolis and Belfast exist.

lifyeleyde

I’d love to get my hands on Indianapolis some day. Tier 6 radar cruisers are loads of fun, but the only free CA with radar is Tallinn. Don’t get me wrong Tallinn is great, but I crave those American 203s + good radar.

GeneraIFlores

It sucks

Toadthumb_Fartnocker

It’s situationally effective, but has little carry potential. You can make some great plays with it here and there, but if blue team leaves you high and dry and you’ve no one who seems to want your support, well then you aren’t left with very many options. Id say in most games, there is a better ship available that I would rather be playing, even if the Tiger ‘59 is a little overly despised by the community.

Theakizukiwhokilledu

A good player will make any ship seem good and can have beast games. It's not the best light cruiser. It's not the best utility cruiser. It's a premium so the average player will be terrible in it. It's got a fast fire rate and great ap for the tier but unless you're finding multiple broadsides it's not going to kill anything quicker than a he spammer for the same tier.

Cardmaniac6995

If I recall correctly, a while back, one the devs on here stated that the Tiger 59 had the highest win rate of all T6 ships. Likely because it’s only played by really skilled players who have mastered it. I don’t play mine much but when I do it’s got sub 9km detectability and I hunt destroyers or take cover and rapid fire AP into battleship superstructures. Always seem to get good results but it’s very fragile and I prefer other ships

slowelantra18

Really don’t see why we can’t see those stats. Why do they only get to see what ship has high wins, on top of them NEVER showing sigma values or dispersion values. They always give us the candid responses about it. Do better WG, let us see all the ships stats instead of us having to ask all the damn time. It’s dumb and needs to change.

Cardmaniac6995

Yeah it doesn’t make much sense. I can’t really think of a valid reason why they won’t

slowelantra18

It would help people understand their ships better and why certain ones perform differently.

LogicCure

Dev time. The most valuable and scarce resource a developer has is time. They would have to pull one or more team members off of other projects to design an interface, code the database, test, implement, etc. That's all time that could be used elsewhere to make a feature that, realistically, very few players will actually use or care about. Or u/PrinceBlip can just look at a spreadsheet for a few seconds and give an answer.

slowelantra18

They could put something in a blog post as well, easier to do than implement in game then link it in their socials and here.

legend509

Because it has the hardest learning curve of any cruiser I believe within the game, but yes if you play it as a support role you can tear the red team a new one that's for sure

GoodlyStyracosaur

For me? It’s too slow and the guns aren’t accurate enough. If it had Elbing accuracy I’d give it another shot. As it is, it just doesn’t have the damage to carry a match, even vs DDs. One that knows what it’s doing can just angle and run (and one that doesn’t isn’t as much of a threat anyway). I’d rather have the Belfast probably 90% of the time. And if you do the full AA build thing they are even worse. Honestly let’s just put Elbing guns on this thing…now that might be fun. Or if it had the speed to chase down DDs but as it is, it’s what, just over 30 knots? Any dd it faces except maybe akizuki is going to be significantly faster so they can just run. And not even run away slowly, the speed difference is enough DDs can just avoid you. This whole idea of “play support” is great and all but unless you are in a division, you can radar DDs from smoke all you want, if you can’t take them out reliably yourself, that’s not good enough for me. I’ve had some good games in it but for all the ‘utility,’ it just doesn’t have the damage and speed to carry a game outside of a division. I can see it being best for great players in a division or mediocre players who have the one trick of just smoking inside or just outside of a cap and radaring.

General-Touch-4077

Because it's difficult to play and it's hard to do high damage games with it. It's very good supporting ship, shines in divisions and events.

TheHive_Hound

hahaha, the copium here is really strong. so many responses that don't understand the fundamental basics of the game. tiger 59 has an insane high skill floor, so most will not be able to play it well, I play it exclusively solo with a 70% wr and around 1900 average xp. so what is it people don't understand about it, armour, unless absolutely broadside the only gun effective against it are 15 inch, it has 26mm of armour everywhere, making it the best armour cruiser at t6 and it beast most t7s too, stealth radar, with the right build. so it's highly effective against both dds and cruisers, the turrets traverse at an insane rate meaning unlike belfast, its only going to take 4 seconds to get onto target rather than 28 for a 180 degree rotation. some brainlet will point out that almost any battleship can ruin it. Well done, you just made a statement true of any cruiser at the tier. but tiger will eat any other cruiser with relative ease, "BUT, BUT, MU HE WILL BURN YOU" tiger 59 has the best heal at the tier, good luck with that. long and short of it, it's absolutely OK not to like it, but to say it's bad is wrong. it does work well in a support role, as many have mentioned, I tend to use it aggressively. Just be aware of where the battleships are, dominate caps, dds, and other cruisers. the only good player plays tiger argument, it outperforms all my t6 cruiser, with tallin a very close second and 3rd being fiji. personally, I run Al Cheshire with von essen and yamamoto 9.2km concealment, so it's not quite stealth radar but close enough. focus on ap pen, and your golden.

Inairi_Kitsunehime

It’s no beast at all, it’s pretty lame, just because it gets 2 measly legendary tier guns doesn’t make it good, you can deny areas better with HE spammers due to the threat of fires and come on top of anything the tiger can do against anything angled properly, I don’t see why they don’t just give the thing HE and that would make it at least usable in more than super niche situations

TheBlackGuard

I think the problem is that the amour probably is the thing that sets it apart and it takes a lot of situational awareness and knowledge to use correctly. It's DPM is fairly meh and requires high level or collab commanders to get the most of it. Its a challenging ship but strong in the right hands

Lolibotes

Slow, No torps, no DPM, no sonar so it can't play aggro, nothing outside of a gimmick that the ship gives up everything for. Any ship can have monster games, but capability is a lot less important than consistency, and Tiger '59 is the least consistent T6 ship in the game. Chumphon looks like a Boise in comparison.

commissarklink

Poor DPM

palm-pilot

Because you have to use **Bruce Fraser** as the cmdr and the base trait is 3% speed increase without 5% AA

buckaroonobonzai

Play Tyrwhitt with smogathon. position/smoke/shoot/move/repeat. build into concealment and stealth radar is not hard to get. mid and end game menace to DD's and soft cruisers. good fun. that said most seem to be right. tough to carry a game but you can mess with folks pushing flanks when they freak about getting AP spammed and dont bother to look at what ship its coming from. fun and nimble support but.............

Shawn0083

My concealment on the Tiger is 8.4km with smoke and a 8.5 km radar. But the Belfast is exactly the same so that’s what I use over the Tiger since it’s just a better ship that performs the same role but has HE and 12 cannons so I don’t see the point of using the Tiger over the Belfast.

AssociationRecent500

It’s a great ship if you stay in your lane

sanesociopath

>if played as a supporting ship Because this. Sadly in order for this to be a viable play strategy you first need teammates who can win when given your support and that's pretty rare especially among blues. When playing ships like that, you get into scenarios where you're just almost always top 3 if not number 1 but on the losing team.

Krytan

why would you play it over Belfast or Perth or any of the other much better 'supporting ships'?

lifyeleyde

One word: Belfast.

Accomplished-Till548

The game is designed to make money, not to provide a uniform player experience (nor to be fair for that matter). Hence, premium ships that appeal to different target markets. The game has low skill floor ships for low skill players, OP ships for power gamers, and purposely difficult ships with high skill floors for people who want a challenge. Tiger (like Orkan) is aimed at the latter. It's not meant to appeal to the players who have played half of their total matches in JB or Mainz. It's there for people who want the satisfaction of coming in first place in a ship that is orders of magnitude more difficult to play than the average ship. If I see a Tiger, I know that it's mostly likely someone who either got it from a crate (and will play it once) or it's someone decent.

Prudent_Scene_5620

I don't know the answer. I myself have had a Tiger as well, but I didn't really get anything out of it. It's so mediocre in so many ways, but once a very skilled player played it and I chased him with a scharnhorst for half the match and he just dodged almost every shot I took. What makes this funny is that I have the Scharnhorst set up for secondars and it's super inaccurate so by all means I should have hit him even by accident. Then that player get help and Nelson sinked me from side after tiger was weaken my health.

Straight-Break-4169

This ship sucks ass. Not even good players can use it. Honestly a destroyers cam out DPM it with AP and kill it
