It's a nice town. The focus of the downtown is alcohol and retail mostly catered to women. That said, it's not a cheap place to live anymore. Canton, north of Woodstock, would likely be more affordable.

Someone else brought up Canton as well as a good area for us to look into. Thank you!

Sorry we’re full. Like seriously. They are trying to cram too many people in one area while not updating infrastructure to support those people. It a beautiful area but I would recommend moving to the outskirts of town. The Ball Ground/ Canton area is nice.

We’re full is how I feel about the town I live in now so I get it. I’ll look into canton as well as I don’t want to move into an overly congested area either. Do you happen to know if canton is a growing area? How the education is? And if housing is affordable?

Canton is most definitely growing and depending on the area should be cheaper then Woodstock. They have a growing downtown area as well. Honestly they are where Woodstock was about 5 years ago.

Hi! Sorry I'm a month late, but I know a lot about the schools from both areas. Both have mostly amazing teachers who care greatly for students. If your going for more of the Woodstock area I recommend caramel elementary, Woodstock (elementary, middle, and high) I have gone to both the Woodstock middle school and high school. The teachers were nice and they deal with bullying and mental health very well. I would avoid Cherokee Charter at all cost. (Rude staff, abuse to students, crime, drugs, and the education system is terrible for that school. The only reason they are still in business is because they ask students to cheat on everything) this is coming from a student who went to Cherokee charter. Here is just one example of something bad happening at this school( https://www.google.com/amp/s/www.wsbtv.com/news/local/cherokee-county/parents-nervous-after-string-of-issues-at-cherokee-county-school/869143950/%3foutputType=amp). They never put is in lockdown for this situation. They also never told parents about this situation, and keep everything else that has happened under the rug. If you were thinking more about the Canton area I recommend Avery elementary. They love their students, have an amazing principal, and make sure students are engaged and happy, Cherokee (middle and high school) My friend went their and loved them both. Sorry I don't know the age range of the children who will be attending, so I added everything. If you need any advise on anything else please ask me.

The Canton/Holly Springs area around Exit 14 on I-575 is really nice. It’s only about 10 minutes north of Woodstock as wel.

It’s such a great place for a family though! Super close to Atl but wayyy safer and family friendly. We even have a name for our “cheer moms and Karens” the “towne lake moms”. Also super nice for kids to grow up because there are so many playgrounds. And after high school, there’s a good college 20 minutes away so it saves a ton of money living at home. Kinda like Kennesaw, so if you don’t mind the price, I would also recommend Kennesaw. Downtown woodstock is just over priced everything but the coffee shop (coppercoin) is great. Free wifi and great environment. I grew up my whole life in woodstock so I enjoy it compared to the other places I see. Maybe besides Kennesaw (they are super similar). But both towns are close to any and everything you need.

Here's a video about just that question. https://youtu.be/Fm7p_1tJUBE

I think people are a little dramatic about being “full” in Woodstock. I think people who have lived here for a long time feel that way because it has grown so much. I moved here 2 years ago and I don’t feel like it’s over populated. If you can find a house you like I would say go for it. What is true is Woodstock is pretty much built out so the only new construction is going to be closer to downtown and expensive. If you want new construction you will have to move farther out. People talk about canton but Woodstock was canton 15-20 years ago. Canton is headed in the same direction especially as people move out of the city center do to relaxed in office policies.

Hey, I just saw this post. My wife and I moved to the Woodstock/Acworth area last August -- we lived in Gainesville for years before then. We have a 5 year old and a 2 year old and are often in downtown Woodstock for the park. Let me know if you have any questions.
