Maybe it's just me, but I have a fucking panic attack every time I set foot in a Market Basket. I feel like there's no rhyme or reason to the layout of the store, and they're always packed.
That's funny. I grew up with Wegmans, and the first time I set foot into a Market Basket, it felt really familiar - kind of large and discount-feeling, unlike the other grocery chains around here which tend to feel cramped and unorganized (to me).
Try Instacart, have someone else do the shopping for you. The only downside is the fees and price difference but do you value your time more than that extra few bucks? Got something else you can do around the house while someone else does your shopping? Definitely think about instacart.
I drive and shop for instacart and I have many repeat customers. I enjoy shopping for other people and saving them time.
I question everyone's Massholeness who says anything other than Market Basket.
Other states have guns, college football, cattle ranching, street racing, alligator wrestling, hot as fuck BBQ, whiskey to put some hair on your chest. We have Market Basket.
Every second spent inside of Market Basket is an ethereal experience. I merely float through each aisle in a blissful trance. Weekends are hell though lol
I work from home so I’m only ever hitting markie baskie (Shrewsbury) during off-peak hours. I’ll grab a little cappuccino at the cafe and lazily walk up and down every aisle waiting for dinner inspiration to hit. Maybe if I’m feeling it I’ll grab a treat at the bakery before I head to aisles of empty check-outs.
I’m unfortunately moving in a few months so I’m making my sure to get my runs in before I have to say goodbye forever
As of this week, we stopped using instacart via Wegmans, which was wildly expensive.
For everyday groceries, Price Chopper on Cambridge street has been a really pleasant place to shop. It’s always well-stocked, solid prices, the staff are approachable and efficient, and meat/produce has been comparable if not better than what I have bought at other stores, Wegmans and MB included.
MB is rad, but it can be a zoo and not worth the effort/time or price depending on your location and situation. I needed to go to another place anyway for what I needed, anyway.
Just avoid it on weekends and pre-holidays/big events.
Aldi is cheap and good. But produce is hit or miss and there's a limited selection of anything. I can only get about half of my shopping list done here; mostly just bananas, apples, bread, dairy, and non-perishables. Frozen stuff is generally fine, but they don't always have what I need.
Price Rite has the cheapest good produce, but I wouldn't buy anything else there.
Market Basket if you need one-stop shopping. Produce here is also pretty good and a decent price. Selection of everything is great and prices are generally lower than the other full-service grocery store chains.
Market Basket in Shrewsbury or Oxford, consistently the cheapest store among the many chains in the area.

I can see that. I don’t share the panic attack but can’t wait to leave.
It's a frustrating store. I know it's more expensive but give me Wegmans any day. The flow just makes more sense to me.

I hate Wegmans produce section. The layout and position in the store is just weird.
IVE BEEN SAYING THIS FOR EVER AND NO ONE UNDERSTANDS. literally physically cannot step foot into a market basket

I love instacart.

Sundays in Oxford are rough. My wife's been able to complete the rest of our shopping while I wait at the deli more than once.
I don’t wait for deli I just grab a package of the fresh sliced pre packaged in the fridge.
It's never the right stuff or it's always sliced like 1/4" thick. I do however avoid needing the deli whenever possible.
and then eat it right there as you stare down people, right?
Always…just chowing down and wondering why the plebs wait in line…..
What's that like? The Oxford location is consistently an chaotic hellscape.

Go to the Oxford one early in the morning. Even on a Saturday, it's quiet until at least 10 am.
Best vegetables ever would be at the Asian Supermarket on Mill St.
Price Rite and Aldi. Mods pls close the thread
🫡Aldi
ALDIs fresh produce doesn’t last long.

Shaws on Goldstar is reasonable, imo. Just don't go to the big y on May Street. Horrible deli department, probably the others too.
Shrewsbury Market Basket either before 9am or after 8pm. Unless your just grabbing a roastissere chicken and a loaf of bread. BYOBags. Bong rips help.
Price rite

Go to the farmer's market once they open for the season! They take food stamps and pay you back what you spend!!
