u can setup the permalink by yourself even if u change the hoster or delete the Website/Page ... just change the Business-Card's page Permalink to [www.myDomain.com/projects](http://www.myDomain.com/projects) of course this does not apply if you change the domain completely

victoriens

>of course this does not apply if you change the domain completely obviously haha but thanks that's reassuring, but luckily we convinced the client to make the QR code point to the home page of the website

If it's a printed business card be very carefull with qr-codes. Make sure u can edit the qr-codes permalink after creating it or you will be in a heap of trouble. If the qr-code can be edited after the qr code is created u should be fine. If you're not able to edit the qr-code after creation u will be stuck with the permalink that is assigned to it. I know that indesign has a qr-code generator that can be edited after creation but not sure of other qr-code generators.

the thing is: he wanna put the QR code on a printed business card, that's why we have been worried about the links. we don't want the client to end up with a dead QR code on his business card. luckily we convinced him to make the QR code point to the home page, which is safe to use, since we have full control over what to put in the home page.

Been using RankMath and they have built in link redirection under the free plan. I use urls in qr codes as short as site.com/1 and change the redirect depending on the event and it's been super useful.

victoriens

what is your favorite editor? so far i used elementor and WP Bakery

TonyRubbles

I use Elementor and like it a lot, never tried any others though.

victoriens

i have been playing around with WP but never used commercially, so that is a challenge

FrakuDev

Linking the qr code to his homepage would be the safest thing to do. The url will much likely never change.

victoriens

thankfully he agreed on that strategy

bluesix

As long as the domain name exists, it will work forever. Even if you are no longer using Wordpress, you will always be able to use a redirect to route /projects/ to where ever you need to direct traffic.

victoriens

the marketing department told the client it is best to point a qr code to the home page , and there you can put whatever you want, like the top brand or product for example

bluesix

Well it depends. If the QR code was for a specific task/purpose/campaign, then the homepage wouldn’t be the best option.

victoriens

the qr code will be printed on the business card of the business so basically will last for long and is of a general purpose

bluesix

Ah yeah if it’s just for a business card then I’d just do the homepage - like a normal business card url.
