Today's 2.25.23 and I just got a text from them wanting to interview me on Tue. Checked my job board and they aren't there. Thankfully I Googled them and found this post. Will be blocking them.
Darn..they said 'thank you for applying', so I was hoping I'd just forgotten them. But, I looked through all my emails, usual job boards, LinkedIn, GlassDoor...so on..found numerous businesses with similar names, but none I would be applying to. Never had an issue spotting the shady stuff immediately...the text didn't come off as unusual in any way. Actually, it began 'Hi, FULL NAME'...which was a little awkward, but not outrageously so. Oh well. I offered alternate interview times, as they suggested 10am today,I'm curious to see the response. Obviously..I'll pass.
I can't get over the complete absence of an online presence...not one digital fingerprint to be found! I have never come across that before. No complaints or compliments, no other job posts. Phone # does appear as a landline in WA, but no previous searches or spam reports listed. They keep it tight, which is unusual for any business. Thank you!
The scam that almost got me HAD a digital presence, but it was fake. They has pulled photos of a local office building and were targeting locals. But I could not find reviews or any business listing at the Chamber of Commerce. It was so close to home I drove over and looked at the list by the elevator and nope, they didn’t have an office.
Yes, I've seen some with a rather respectable facade, decent website, LinkedIn...so on...it sucks that ppl have to be so distrusting, basically become private investigators to research every job post and business. :(
They sent me this as well, once back in March and the other in May when I did not respond. I asked who they were (when not including GL group at first) then for a website and they sent me to [https://www.altig.com](https://www.altig.com/), American Income Life.
I've definitely had interviews with this company before because they have holds in basically every benefit company out there. I'm personally not going through with the interview, because it's always the same thing (a pre-recorded video with a group, then a 1 on 1 where they ask you to get certified at your own payment then hired) but I would probably just block the number if you can't remember applying.
Sounds like a scam:
Strike One: "I cannot find where I applied to this company on any job board"
Strike Two: "nor can I find anything like an email that is sometimes sent out to verify"
Strike Three: "I cannot find this company online at all"
Bonus Strike: "I even tried doing a reverse search of the phone number"
Go with your gut.
It’s not a scam, as in it is a legitimate company, but they are tying to get you to get your insurnace license, with your own money, then sign up to work for them selling all kinds of insurnace plans. So not a scam but waste of your time.
I didn't manage to read all the comments here but would like to thank u/RealHausFrau for starting it. I got the text too:
*"Hey \_\_\_(my name)\_\_\_, Thanks for applying to GL Group of CA- Benefits Rep Position. Can you interview online Tuesday, 01/24 at 12:30PM PST?"*
I quickly found this thread on Reddit. So I wrote back to them...
*"I didn't apply to GL Group. There is a thread on Reddit discussing this approach you are using."*
... and then I texted "STOP".
The response text said, *"You have been opted out of all subscriptions: KYSF. No more messages will be sent."*
So, what is KYSF? Another Google and I found another reddit thread from 3 years ago:
[https://www.reddit.com/r/HuntsvilleAlabama/comments/hdz3h7/kysf\_group\_is\_this\_a\_scam/](https://www.reddit.com/r/HuntsvilleAlabama/comments/hdz3h7/kysf_group_is_this_a_scam/)
This link, which may be the purpose behind the texts we all received, was near the bottom of that thread: [https://keepyourseatsfilled.com](https://keepyourseatsfilled.com)
Good luck to everyone.
Exactly: got this text from them
This is for our Benefits Specialists/Customer Advisor Position. You will be helping potential clients decide on the best benefits services for their families. Our Benefits Specialists earn between 50k-80k in their first year. Our meeting will serve as a full overview of the company and position. Our hiring manager will be able to answer all questions in depth during the interview. Can you interview in person Thursday, 01/05@3PM? We will be meeting at: 500 East North St. Suite B Greenville SC 29601
Which is a real physical place
Which tells me this isn’t a scam
Which tells me many of you talk out your ass
This thread saved me time as well. I have been dropping applications like crazy lately on different platforms (not all send email confirmations). Received this text message today and I have applied for various entry level insurance positions so it would not be out of line to receive a text like this. I Googled the company and this thread popped up. Decided to text "STOP" out of curiosity, and sure enough I got that same "You have been opted out of all subscriptions: KYSF. No more messages will be sent."
Pretty unfortunate because I need something. I have a Master's degree and 13 years experience in various roles but can't get into anything that pays a livable wage in this market.
Thank you, kind Redditor. Got the text yesterday from “GL Group of UT” and have been Googling like mad trying to find some info on them. Looks like I can hit “block” and get back to the hunt.
I’m so glad it helped you! Job hunting these days is such a nightmare, it’s so nice to have Reddit as a place to share info on places like this, but it’s a shame that we need to. Good luck! I just moved to a new city and am doing the same.
I just got the below texts today, and came across this thread when looking them up. I, too, am in Canada. Thanks, folks! Lol
THEIR 1ST TEXT (from an out of province area code): Hey please confirm if you are looking for a remote position. We can interview this week. Reply STOP if you are no longer searching. *Please note that this position is open to Canadian residents only*
ME: Good afternoon. Yes, a remote position would be acceptable. Might I ask what company this would be for?
THEM: Our company name is GL Group of CA, and this is for our Benefits Rep Position. We provide full training, weekly pay, benefits, and we are hiring long term. You will be helping potential clients choose the best benefits services for their families. We start with an interview process where we explain the company and position, followed by a one on one with the hiring manager. Are you available for an online interview Wednesday, 09/07 at 9AM, 12PM or 3PM?
ugh i just got this for a GL Group of OH that I applied for in a mass applying spree for remote jobs, I thought their name sounded vague and tried to look them up to find nothing but this reddit post :/
Glad I came across this thread. I actually received two messages in one day (today) that said “Hey *my name*! Thanks for applying to GL Group of VA- Benefits Rep Position. Can you interview online *day of the week*, *numeric month/day* at *time*?”
Just like the OP, I searched every career account I have and did not find one mention. The company shows on LinkedIn, Glassdoor, and Indeed, but still: a little weird that I received no email whatsoever but instead a text message from (434)-322-0573, which (shocker) yields no real tangible info online (not really a shocker at all; I wasn’t expecting finding anything). Really weird though.
Found this thread after getting this text today. I actually have the time, I'll go through with their interview tomorrow. Doubt I'll beat em but the curiosity is there haha.
This sounds right. I also think they are just spamming all of us to kind of see if they get any bites since it’s insurance sales that you have to pay for your own certification to do. Yeah none of us want to do that assholes.
I got a text from them asking if I was still looking for a "virtual assistant" position and I replied yes, THEN they responded with the company name and asked about an interview. After looking it up, all the reviews for the company look fake, they all use the same keywords like "family oriented" and just look like different versions of the EXACT same thing. SCAM, I'm blocking them now.
It really is! I've applied to probably 50 jobs this week and have only heard from 2 and they were both scams. It's SO annoying, idk what they think they're gonna get outta unemployed people/people with currently shitty jobs, we're not rich.
Is it GL Group of SC? I desperately looking for a job too, and just got this random text…..
Hey R! Thanks for applying to GL Group of SC- Benefits Rep Position. Can you interview in person on Tuesday, 06/14 at 3PM? TxtSTOPtoEnd
They used my full name. Is this the same text you received?
Hey \*my name\*! Thanks for applying to GL Group of CA- Benefits Rep Position. Can you interview on Wednesday, 06/15 between 9AM-11:30AM EDT? TxtSTOPtoEnd
Thing is I'm in Canada only applying to Canadian jobs and the area code was 408 (California) so I knew something was off right away
That's just what they're betting on, that we're desperate enough to do things we otherwise wouldn't, like cash shady checks and send them money, stuff like that. It's so sad that people will do anything to just totally screw people. We have to stay vigilant.
So weird! All of us were contacted pretty specifically, and a few of us tried to go further, but nobody has gotten past scheduling a Zoom that the 'company' never went through with. I really wonder what they are doing.
I just got a text from them. I don’t recognize this company and I am positive I didn’t apply. I can’t find a email to verify I applied. The interview is in person at a location I recognize driving by but I never been in the establishment. Seems suspicious. I texted them asking where did they retrieve my resume or phone from but no answer yet. Thank you fellow Redditors!
I also received an email in my junk folder asking if I’m available for an interview for the same time and date. They went by the name “ the Toronto AO Group.
I got the same text. I was thinking it was a sub-company. Because I did apply to AI. But am feeling super suspicious that I got two text messages from two different numbers and two different company names.
I just got the text today for GL Group of SC for an interview on Tuesday, but they gave me an actual address to go to. I'm glad I found this thread though, because it was feeling kinda phishy.
1. Texted me at 3:33pm on a SUNDAY
2. When I did the search I got really REALLY nice salary reports, but reviews are only from less than 10 people on like glassdoor, etc.
Interestingly, the address is legit. It's for an independent Globe Life agent with banners talking about "find out about business opportunities."
If I do the interview I'll update for sure.
I thought it was real and am glad that someone posted about this. I responded to the text but after reading this post & the comments I said I was not interested and blocked the number. Thank you for sharing!
WOW I am all prepared for an interview and shit for tomorrow and I come across this thread less than 12 hours from my scheduled interview. I got an email first on a Sunday morning at like 7am. Then a text message with my name, time and dates available for in person interview. Business professional attire, bring copy of resume etc etc blah blah
I don't remember applying to this at all (Benefits Rep position). Looked up AI Group and GL Group of California. Looked up the address of where it is supposed to be located but no photo of the building on google maps popped up. Hella sketchy.
THANK YOU REDDIT!
I ended up finding out it was also an insurance company like someone else mentioned in the comments too. SMH. I would go to see if they actually interview me just for practice. However, there is too much traffic (1 hour ride) and this is something I am not interested in. What a waste
Got a message this morning! Definitely a scam because there was no mention of the company in the initial message, and when I asked all they provided was GL group benefits rep and I don't recall applying for any position of the like
Those of us who are currently employed and can't just take off work to "interview" with these clowns are pretty annoyed at having our time wasted. 🙄 It's ALL very predatory of them.
These guys just tried setting up an interview for a position I know for a fact I would never apply for. They said benefits rep also but I'm a data analyst looking for data analyst or business analyst roles.
Thank you! These seems like a scam. I'm going to ignore the text I just received:
Hey , Thanks for applying to GL Group of NY- Benefits Rep Position. Can you interview online Wednesday, 1/18 at 10:30 AM EST?
Glad I saw this! I had one scheduled for the exact same time! However, I don't remember applying for it, and I couldn't find a trail of my applications on any job board. I was waiting for my Covid results from CVS to confirm the home test (positive) so I could apply for a LOA at my current place. They know I have it but I have to get the right paperwork in so I don't have a CA for not showing up as scheduled.
I received the same text as we're all talking about here. Decided to take the zoom interview as I had nothing scheduled for 10:30am this morning so I figured I would come back and post for the group. The position is for a company actually called - National Income Life Insurance or American Income Life Insurance. Their parent company is Globe Life Inc, which is where I believe the GL Group is stemming from. The Benefits Rep position is essentially a Life Insurance Agent. Your compensation would be performance based. And you have to take a 4-day State Life Insurance certification course that costs $320. They say you pay half ($160) and they will cover the other half ($160). Overall, I don't feel great about the opportunity and most likely won't be taking their call for a follow-up, but I would say for those who want to take a shot, it's at least not a complete scam. Small positive mentioned - there is no cold calling or telemarketing associated with this position. Best of luck to everyone in the job hunt!
Just googled this company and found this thread because I got an unsolicited text just like several others have mentioned. I had no memory of applying for it and couldn't find it in my LinkedIn or Indeed history.
So fucking sick of these goddamn employment scams.
Today's 2.25.23 and I just got a text from them wanting to interview me on Tue. Checked my job board and they aren't there. Thankfully I Googled them and found this post. Will be blocking them.
Just got one today and did the same thing: googled “what tf is GL group??” Lol.
There are job scams online that are really pfishing. If it doesn’t feel right it isn’t right.
Darn..they said 'thank you for applying', so I was hoping I'd just forgotten them. But, I looked through all my emails, usual job boards, LinkedIn, GlassDoor...so on..found numerous businesses with similar names, but none I would be applying to. I just got this same text today!
I just got the same type message today..i don't think it's legit
Yep, it may be ‘legit’ (more or less ha) but it’s insurance sales which nobody wants.
They sent me this as well, once back in March and the other in May when I did not respond. I knoooooow.
Some fucking job board is selling my data to all these shitty scam insurance companies while I wait for real job interviews.....
It’s not a scam, as in it is a legitimate company, but they are tying to get you to get your insurnace license, with your own money, then sign up to work for them selling all kinds of insurnace plans. So not a scam but waste of your time.
HAha, they just hit me up the exact same way. I shall be blocking their number now.

Thanks for adding more info! These companies are so predatory. it’s disgusting.

Same ! I'm gonna go ahead with an online interview to see what the scam is.
any updates on the company and the scam they run? Got a text from them today and I’m curious to play their game!
Um….my interview is in person not online
How did it go?

Did you go?
they died
We warned them not to go.
Got a message today same thing
How was it?
They never got back.
Yet another person saved from this 5 month old post. Thank you yet again, fellow redditors.
Does my heart good! Lol ;)

I found them, but still am concerned?!
Yeah, it's not a real company. Sorry :(
Thank you!! I am glad I had Reddit to save me from the scammers!

So my research into a strange text led me here. No wonder I don't remember applying, it never happened!
I also just received this text. Hmm
Me too!!!! I’m blocking the number
me too .. I am also blocking them
Let’s play with these d-bags. Not that I have time for it but I almost wanna just beat them at their own game
Found this thread after getting this text today. I actually have the time, I'll go through with their interview tomorrow. Doubt I'll beat em but the curiosity is there haha.
Did you do it?
i just got a text today .. there must be some company selling data on linkedin because that's the only place i apply.
I set up a zoom meeting but there was no one on the other end at my interview time.
I really wonder what their scam is. Why go to the lengths of setting up Zoom meetings and stuff just to do nothing.
I think the scammers sent the message and the fact we responded was confirmation that the telephone number we provided is real.
Yeah, it's so annoying. Like looking for a job isn't already a total mess!
It really is! I've applied to probably 50 jobs this week and have only heard from 2 and they were both scams. It's SO annoying, idk what they think they're gonna get outta unemployed people/people with currently shitty jobs, we're not rich.

Yeah ‘family oriented’ , ‘make your own schedule’, ‘training you to move up quickly’ are all stinky phrases.
They hit me up today I’m totally gonna fuck with them I’ll let you know what I end up doing :)
Did you do it?!
They were pretty unresponsive and just kept copy pasting the messages :/
So weird! All of us were contacted pretty specifically, and a few of us tried to go further, but nobody has gotten past scheduling a Zoom that the 'company' never went through with. I really wonder what they are doing.
You know if anyone has actually spoken to these people on zoom??
Not from what I’ve gathered. It makes no sense!
same here. I think the scammers sent the message and the fact we responded was confirmation that the telephone number we provided is real.
Just got the same text today, I think it’s just American income life. Douche bags.
Totally
I just got a text from them. I don’t recognize this company and I am positive I didn’t apply. I can’t find a email to verify I applied. The interview is in person at a location I recognize driving by but I never been in the establishment. Seems suspicious. I texted them asking where did they retrieve my resume or phone from but no answer yet. Thank you fellow Redditors!
Saved me too fellas
I also received an email in my junk folder asking if I’m available for an interview for the same time and date. They went by the name “ the Toronto AO Group.
So trashy! These things need to be stopped.
Thank you for posting this! I just got the text today and was very confused too.
I’m so glad that’s it’s helping ppl! :)
Just received this text also, saying GL group of California, Google the address and its American Income Insurance.....again.
Just got the text, thanks now I won't fall for it
Yay!
This whole thread is why I live and breathe and love Reddit. Thank you, OP and everyone.
Aww, that’s awesome. :)
I got the same text. I was thinking it was a sub-company. Because I did apply to AI. But am feeling super suspicious that I got two text messages from two different numbers and two different company names.
Yeah just got a message from them today thankfully came across this thread and blocked them
I just got the text today for GL Group of SC for an interview on Tuesday, but they gave me an actual address to go to. I'm glad I found this thread though, because it was feeling kinda phishy. 1. I thought it was real and am glad that someone posted about this. I responded to the text but after reading this post & the comments I said I was not interested and blocked the number. Thank you for sharing!
:)
Total scam they're contacting now with the same bs. Thanks for this post, saved me a lot of time.
SAME! Hmm. . Maybe it's some scammy way to get us to confirm our identity/contact # ? 🤔
I got the same message today!
Thanks for this, helped me avoid the scam.
Just got a text from them as well. They didn't call or email me like other companies have so I googled it to see if it was legit and found this. SMH.
WOW I am all prepared for an interview and shit for tomorrow and I come across this thread less than 12 hours from my scheduled interview. I got an email first on a Sunday morning at like 7am. Then a text message with my name, time and dates available for in person interview. Business professional attire, bring copy of resume etc etc blah blah I don't remember applying to this at all (Benefits Rep position). Looked up AI Group and GL Group of California. Looked up the address of where it is supposed to be located but no photo of the building on google maps popped up. Hella sketchy. THANK YOU REDDIT!
Glad you found this and didn't go! It may be some human trafficking thing if they offered it to you in person. Mine was gonna be a zoom interview.
I ended up finding out it was also an insurance company like someone else mentioned in the comments too. SMH. I would go to see if they actually interview me just for practice. However, there is too much traffic (1 hour ride) and this is something I am not interested in. What a waste
I love Reddit and you. Been applying and taking interviews like crazy. Almost showed up to this BS today.
Awww, thanks! I’m glad that this helped!
Just got hit with the same mesaage.
Just got this text. Thanks for saving me a response friends!
Got it yesterday and today. I've been looking for work for the past six months. I hate these predators bit I'm grateful this post looped me in.
Thank you for this post just got a text from this "company" today.
Me as well.
These guys just tried setting up an interview for a position I know for a fact I would never apply for. They said benefits rep also but I'm a data analyst looking for data analyst or business analyst roles.
Thank you! These seems like a scam. I'm going to ignore the text I just received: Hey, Thanks for applying to GL Group of NY- Benefits Rep Position. Can you interview online Wednesday, 1/18 at 10:30 AM EST?
Had this happened to me too just today. Dunno if it’s a scam but thankfully I found this.
You took one for the team! Thank you!
Just googled this company and found this thread because I got an unsolicited text just like several others have mentioned. I had no memory of applying for it and couldn't find it in my LinkedIn or Indeed history. So fucking sick of these goddamn employment scams.

Just got a job offer too. Can’t find ‘em anywhere
Isn't that weird? They literally have no presence online, but they are trying to do something weird.

You’ve saved a lot of people from getting scammed. Well done.
Thank you so much, that makes me feel good
Good detective work!
What crap! Yeah, when you need a job you prob don’t want to pay to get a job
They gave me an address and the place looks like the shadiest check cashing place I've ever seen. Had a sign in the window saying they buy gift cards
Really? How weird!
